Sounds like the mountaineers were at it again! Hope they didn't punish you too badly Kingsley.

Great job Gag, great job and good strategy. I, on the other hand, had a somewhat different strategy. I went out and hammered the hills of St. Therese! Ny strategy was to hold back for the first kilometre, around 3:40-45. but ended up running 3:55. This included a rather long uphill rise for the first kilometre so it helped to keep it slow. The stiff wind didn't help much either.

I was hoping for around 38:30, but ran 10 seconds slower (38:40) but, like GAG, I was content that I am on track for Ottawa as well. Won my age class and finished 17 out of 200 over-all. 1:25 is doable in Ottawa, I now believe. More importantly, sub 37:00 for 10K may be realizable before season ends at Parc Lafontaine.

Obviously, there's two trends in our little community:

the roadrunners

the everything but the road runners

I promise to give the everything but a try after NCM.

KZ I know what you mean, That Grommit talks to much.

Latest Update from the Pittsfield cool running Ultra Forum.
It's not too late to start training for Pittsfield Peaks Ultra
Challenge. June 9, 2007 - some recommendations from race director Andy Weinberg:
A. Spend the next month in State prison.
B. Have a friend drag you behind their car at 30mph on a gravel road.
Two days per week recommended.

"Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a
well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn-out,
shouting, 'Holy sh*t! What a ride!'"

You're up early, Roly.

I think I'll have to get up as early as you do to squeeze my runs into the working week. There just isn't enough time in the day...

By the way, how many kilometers or miles do you think Gro's loop is? Last week was for sure the most miles I ran in one week, but I am curious to know how many I did. Oh yeah, like Gro said, I am definitely NOT observing the 10% rule.

Tonight, I have a longish run planned. Roly, I'll let you know if my legs are okay from the 3-hour Groly Run-Walk-Talk-Picnic Extravaganza.

Did someone mention food? Mmm... all the more reason to eat guilt free. *gobble gobble*. I'm in. As for meeting I'm scheduled to meet KZ at Viau metro station at 5:30pm Saturday. If this is convenient for anyone else we could meet up there.

Best,

TB

I estimated about 16 miles for the day. I will bring my Garmin on Saturday and measure the loop. Sure you don't want to join us on Saturday when we double last week fun. 6 loops starting bright and early. Good luck on your 10K Saturday.

I usually wake up during my 3 weekday runs at 3:20 AM and am out the door around 4:00 am. Maximizes time spent with the family.

Wha-wha-what?!

16 miles? Holy crap! That would mean that last week I ran about 44% more than two weeks ago! uh-oh.

My April kilometrage looks like this: 40, 31, 45, 65. Am I getting into dangerous waters? Too much too soon? That's on top of a total of 460 kms since late December.

On second thought, maybe I won't be getting up as early as you do, Roly. To me, THAT'S dedication...

TB, Lifeany: Saturday will be great! Good running, good eats, celebration all around! Kind of like a Lionel Richie song.
