Don't get that backwards...it could be messy, trying to keep your head warm with baklava. JC is indeed running...as long as we use the broadest interpretation of the word.

I'm not sure if its just that work is so hectic re Budget, or that combined with the house incident my commitment and drive to do my running is very low. I'm finding it just too easy to postpone or crawl on my treadmill. Got up to go with the group this morning, looked at the weather and crawled back in bed. I need my butt kicked if I seriously am going to achieve my goal at Mississauga. I know once I get in the grove my drive will go up because I just generally feel a lot better when I'm running hard and consistently! SO KICK MY BUTT GUYS!Had a really nice thing happen this week - our CAO has been with the town for over 30 years and he told me I'm the second best treasurer he has ever worked with (and there has been more than two ) and I'm doing a fantanstic job Number one walked on water according to all the old timers. Maybe I can run on water ;-). Thanks for the feedback on Grimsby, HPG. Patti

I was talking to the Events Director for RR today and he was saying they have over 50 runners signed up for Grimsby. If, true I bet they are hoping for a lot of late entries. I have run a couple of races where there was nobody in sight in front of me or behind me...not much of a racing experience. They are normally called tempo runs.

10k yesterday, 14k today, per program - shorts and tank top, and lots of HGTV. Doesn't look like its warming up anytime soon. Guess it really is winter.Patti

Patti, there's only one person that can get you out of bed in the mornings and get your run in....and that person is about 315 pounds, has some strange genetic mutation and carries a small tree log wrapped in rusty barbed wire. However, they're not around here so I guess you'll have to try to get yourself out of bed.My run Sunday was horrid. I was just lacking energy and could not get warmed up at all. I got my 2 hours worth in anyway, not much fun though. My allergies are just raging these days too...time to change the furnace filter, I think, since the windows probably won't be open again till April sometime.

Hey Patti - Just remember how you felt for the last couple of miles of Chicago. You were *so* close. Just get out there, day after day, and you'll get it done. I always promise myself that if I'm feeling crappy after 15 minutes of running, then I'll let myself stop. I've only stopped once and that was when I had broncitis (I didn't know it was broncitis at the time).Tri training is going well on my end. I've really ramped up the hours since we're now less than 26 weeks away from Lake Placid. I'm averaging close to 11 hours a week. This week is scheduled for 12.5. Fun, fun, fun!

aurang, its Boston - 4 hours. Guess that should be motivation enough. Thanks Jim, you are right. And Dawn, yup, it would be nice to do it rather than be so close.I'd rather be running now - sitting at work listening to 30 delegations regarding the Town giving money to save the old Oak Tree on Bronte road - it's probably going to die before the meeting is over . Don't think of it as a tree...think of it as a china cabinet, or a dining room table. If they run the road around it, some drunk's gonna keep going straight and run into it anyway. Ask if you can bring your treadmill to these meetings.

I have it on good authority that aurang is desperately trying to become a Clydesdale.

That's old news, Jim. I'm not helping this weight gaining cause of mine. I ran 70 miles last week, 18k yesterday with a fast finish and another 10 today. Maybe I'll have to settle for being actually decent.

Woke up nice and early and was just about to go close up my suitcase and take it out to the car when I realized that I am heading south tomorrow.hmmmm...I think I'm ready to hit the cruiseport. I'm a bit concerned about Miami on Sunday. There's some football game there or something.

Patti I have heard similar things from a number of different people (diff. municipalities and other consultants) clearly you are doing a great job. Dawn ~ I am very impressed with your Ironman training! Hey Jim are you going to do ATB? Do you have a marathon plan for this year? I ran/walked this morning still discomfort with each stride. Saw my GP yesterday and she thinks it is time for a MRI. I see the sports doc tomorrow to assess the situation and determine the next steps. Looks like no skiing this year (as I longingly read the Whistler snow report) which upsets me as much as the no running. Cheers HPG

Thanks Craig - always nice to hear positive feedback!JC - have a good trip - its always better to be early rather than late aurang, are you being a bit of a Sh** disturber? Fun, eh? Jim, we are thinking of starting a pool to see how long the tree survives once construction starts. I'm taking wagers although we had one on the amount of donations they would get and we were all wrong! Dawn, interesting article in the Star yesterday on Ironmans. From the "typical profile" they quoted it confirms what we all know - you're special! You go, girl! 10k - on the TM....next two weeks are the busiest of the year re Budget, so I'm not beating myself up about the TM, just making sure I get my runs in. I AM GOING OUT WITH THE GROUP TOMORROW NIGHT. Quote to fix the house came in today - $14,500!!!!!!!!!! I'm in shock and thankful for insurance!! Patti

Now *that* was funny. Thanks for the support everyone. I really appreciate it. It's amazing how much signing up for a race like this can motivate you to get out the door day after day even when the race is 6 months away.

Hi everyone,I live near the Newmarket area....not sure where all of you are. Have decided to get into running more seriously now than ever before. I work out at the gym daily, with a combination of cardio and weights. My plan is to participate in the Missausaga run this May -- not sure what distance I am going to target. Have to begin my training and then I will decide. Is anyone else considering this run ? Anyone close to me? Would be interested in finding a training partner.

If you go 30 miles south on Yonge Street from Newmarket, you wind up in downtown Toronto, which is where I am. I'm running the full, yes.

Hi MikeI'm in Mississauga and planning for the full in Mississauga - Ottawa as backup, if things don't go as well as planned. I've managed all my runs over the last week, but on my nice warm TM. Sunday was 22k, and that's as long as I ever want to run on a TM even with a great movie on. I can't believe how cold it is - you would think it was winter in Canada Worked most of Sat and Sun, worst should be over by early next week. OK, aurang, not knowing where you are on 24 but what do you think Christmas was like at the Bauers? Patti
