Hi All!Far be it for me to throw a little sunshine into this cloudy thread, but I am running fairly well these days...thank you very much!! Unfortunately we are in the beginning stages of snow season at the mine so will be doing a few indoor runs until spring. We already have 4 feet of snow, with a forecast of another 4 feet over the next 4 days. Nevertheless, my body feels good, my head feels good and I'm running up a storm around Smithers these days.

Tig, after all those years in Timmin's, I can't imagine a coupla feet of snow being an issue for you. We got a whole centimeter forecast for tonight.Mornings have been great to run these days. Although it's those odd conditions where one layer is too little and two is too much. but haven't seen any wet stuff in the AM.

? Where on earth do you live?[/B][/QUOTE]Smithers, BC. But I work a couple of hours south of there....in the Coastal mtns....about 50 km from the mighty Pacific. In the winter the jet stream drags clouds across the ocean onto land, where they give up most of their moisture before marching into the prairies. Last winter we got 11 meters of snow. That is not unusual for the area. Many places, such as Stewart get much more.

Alright the first sowfall this season, who ran? I managed 7k on the snow covered sidewalks. A couple of guys rolled down their car windows and yelled out something which I couldn't understand. I imagine it was words of encourgement... afterall it's not like I was on the precious freshly salted and somewhat bare road. Running in snow is definitely better than running in rain.

A beautiful evening run of 13K including a run down the beltline lit by the full moon, HOOOOWL.Just recieved my registration/confirmation package for the Goofy 08 races. Will probably be looking forward to the warmth and sun come January if the past few days are any indication of the winter to come.

Hey everyone. Just back from a Thanksgiving trip to the US. Nice long weekend, except for the fact that I have to take my girls out of school. I hate doing that, but I also hate missing such a big holiday with my family. We also had an 80th b-day party for my Mom!! That was fun!So, back to reality now. I only did 1 run over 6 days. Ugh!

On a map, it looks like Smithers is just down the highway from Watson Lake, Yukon, home of the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had. Needless to say, I've also never seen so many fat people in one town.

Lots of 1st nations people around here. They have a higher propensity to get obese, leading to much higher incidence of type 2 diabetes. As for the fat white eyes.....well we have a Ronald McRottenfood in town, plus a KFC, A&W, DQ and Taco Bell. That wouldn't have anything to do with it would it?

I was a little surprised by what I saw in some very small towns on the Alaska Highway. I thought people in remote areas would be in great shape from smashing rocks or wrestling polar bears all day, but I guess they drive everywhere and eat grilled cheese every day. It's a beautiful area, no doubt about it. I wouldn't want to live there, but I'm already planning on going back for a trail half in Whitehorse in August.

Wow, what a lousy day for running. I guess my 60+ minutes shoveling the driveway is going to count as my workout this Sunday.Hope everybody is warm and safe.

Today's wind doesn't help the conditions any. I could just unzip my jacket and let the wind push me along, although trying to tack back could prove difficult. aww I can use a couple of days off anyway. 11 weeks into my second chance and this will be the first time I have taken consecutive days off of running. Funny how it effects the mind though, talk about feeling guilty.

I'm busy taking a break. I want a bit of downtime before working on winter maintenance, kinda recharge the bats.

No break for me. Got to get in my Goofy 2008 training in. 30K on Sunday and then a 35K next Sunday, before it's taper time (yay). Not too pleasant doing 3+ hour runs in the cold wet weather. Not too bad yesterday late afternoon, but for some reason I had to make four porta potti stops. Dunno if it was the three coffees I had early in the morning, or my bladder was suffering from shrinkage. Got to love all the house infills going up to provide porta potties every few miles here and there.

Hi All!Just stopping by to leave a quick message wishing everyone a great holiday season. I am still rehabbing my knee and it is getting better but slowly. I recently got a custom brace so skiing is a go for this winter - which is a great thing. Happy running all. Cheers, Craig
