I'd thought about it, but I'd have to run it by proxy, since I won't be around that weekend.

Had a good run today, nice to get out while the heat's off. 7 and an arf miles with 5 1/2 moderate tempo imbedded. Try to get my long runs back in order starting tomorrow.

Hi all,

Thanks for the good wishes. I am at least relieved to be doing something. The doc who is doing the surgeon is the one got the second opinion from. The first doc, who is from the sports medicine clinic, was much more pessimistic and was reluctant to do proceed with the surgery. Once I have had the surgery, get a picture of the extent of the damage, go through rehab then I will explore what my running options are. No matter what the outcome I definitely intend to bike and swim more and hope I can get back to the running slowly.

Jim and Aurang ~ nice results at the Nightcrawler. Jim I think my best (only?) time at the nightcrawler was 34:4? – and as I recall we had Krispy Kreme donuts and beer after the race. Aurang – how much below 30 do you think you can go for a 5 miler?

Cheers,
HPG

Craig, I ran the last two miles at 5:50 pace, and I think I can run around 5:55/mile for 5 miles, which is about 29:30. I'm running a 10k on Sunday and I definitely think I'll beat my PB of 38:40 and my goal of 38 minutes. I could get under 37 minutes if it's a great day and I'm in great shape, but I'm not betting on it.

All the best with your recovery. Just don't rush back.

Holy Moly, I go away for 2 weeks and only miss a couple of replies.

How the mighty have fallen!!!

I celebrated July 4th in Fort Collins Colorado. I think there were probably more American flags flying on my street in Mississauga than in Fort Collins...a far cry from times I have spent it in New England.

I mountain hiked, and biked, and white water rafted, but never raised a foot to run.

Driving on some of the highways in Wyoming and South Dakota would allow the Porsche to go zoom zoom. Feels weird, but fun, to have the cruise set at 160 km/h.

JC posts and we follow

Dawn, wishing you a great race! You've trained hard so you will do great!

I was off on vacation last week, had a couple good runs with my younger sister. Worked this week, and now off for another week but hanging around home.

Training is underway. Track work last night - but only fiished 12 out of 14 laps of tempo as the lightning was flashing and the rain came down in barrels - not buckets! In a minute I was soaked!

Took the boy and buddies to Harry Potter tonight - really enjoyed it. Like the books, this one is far darker than the previous stories. The magic special effects are very cool. Eagerly anticipating the final book - likely two copies purchased in this house!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone! I can't believe it's only a week away now. Leaving Monday for LP, so I'll be out of touch most of the week. My bib # is 2329 and you can check out my splits at www.ironmanlive.com on July 22nd. I want lots of people keeping track of me so I won't be tempted to walk during the marathon. Of course, that might be the only way I can finish, but I want to run it if I'm able.

I'm hoping for around 14 hours: 1.5 hr swim / 7 hr bike / 5 hr run plus transitions. The run is the big unknown for me since I don't know if I can run a marathon after 114 miles of racing!!

So, send speedy thoughts my way at 7:00 am on Sunday!!

Oh, you thinking doing an IM on Sunday is tough...I'll be driving home from cottage country on that day, so there!

I'll be running with lots of bug spray on my neck for the next week. The horseflies are gonna luv me.

I'll be keeping track, Dawn. Don't walk during the marathon. It's swim-bike-run, not swim-bike-walk. You'll do great, good luck.

I hung out with Ed today at work. That was fun.

Good luck Dawn...I drove the bike course and found it too hard on my vehicle.

There are a couple of people from Port Credit Running Room who are going to LP.

Have a great one.

It's swim-bike-run, not swim-bike-walk.

That's going to be my mantra all day! Thanks everyone!!

Hi there! Just checking in from Lake Placid. We've been here since Monday night, but just checked into our hotel downtown last night. The transition area is all set up and I got registered today. Went for a quick swim in the lake. The water temp is *perfect*.

It's raining here today (and probably tomorrow too), but the weekend is looking really good. Maybe a bit hot, but no rain I hope.

Good Luck Dawn!!!! Have a great race.

Heading to Picton for the weekend, therefore long run today, but it was only 15K. However, came after last nights tempo run so I'm a bit tired.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Dawn's kept her word so far. She completed the swim in 1:24 (presumably no walking there), the 112-mile bike ride in 7:04 and has completed one run loop in 2:33. Her goal was 14 hours, and with a half marathon to go, she's at 11:11. She's going to get under 14, unless she fades badly on the run.

Okay, so she slowed a bit, but Dawn finished in 14:03. Wow. It must be such a thrill and a relief to finish. Congratulations! You must be so sore.

Congrats Dawn!! You hit your goal and I hope mentally you feel great. Physically, I'm sure you feel pretty sore but you are amazing!
