I just got home awhile ago from a brutal run with the Phoenix group.. They said 19.5k and I was just behind Dennis who said he ran it at a 4.50/k pace.. I was tired before the half way mark, and thanks to Mercury1 for help on that last stretch with the big hill.. Man, I was tired! I will be sore from this, but I guess you need to do a long run every now and then... Next one will feel easier! Thanks to the Phoenix group.. I am having fun learning new places, and meeting some great runners! Rolyone.. sorry we missed you, but I know what you mean aboout driving to train..Truxx

..... yep we're back. 2007 is off to a slow start.... ie. I haven't run yet this year! I caught up on lots of sleep [+/- 10 per night!], skied for about 6 hours none stop on tuesday, walked gomez often, read about running and generally took it very easy this past week. So I'm looking forward to stretching my legs a little..... However, I have a little ankle ache happening in the same spot as last years sprain [in sympathy with dr?].... it aches when I wake up in the morning and is stiff until I've walked about a bit... I ran up and down the drive to the chalet this morning with gomez [50yds] and it felt fine.... but after 3 hrs of inactivity, driving home tonight it ached again... very strange..... anyhoo... I'll be at the monument @ 9 [via the path next to the cemetery@ 8:30].... see you then!grommit

.... killington had some MAN made snow on a thin base until last wednesday... the temps went up and it started raining..... it's like a ghost town down there, everyone has one has cancelled or gone home and the hills are bare... never mind.... we'll be able to do indoor skiing soon I guess WTF..... I can also report that the size of vehicle in Vermont is about the same as up here, although the outta-state SUV's are mostly huge.... Ho Humm..... and finding diesel is a challenge..... Bravo Bush/Cheney!! that's my rant for the moment.... BTW has anybody rented "An Inconvenient Truth" yet?..... my local video store's copies we're all out last night.... where's my tights? grommit

“I like the way you mooovvee..” didn’t matter, kick ass tunes, mellow tunes, dance tunes, legs wouldn’t do what I had on my schedule.. which was 10k …heart rate remained a little high, out of the range suggested. My last run was Thursday night, so I find it a bit odd that I didn’t have a little more energy. I have been busy the last couple of days, okay, okay, no excuses.Came home after 8k and did some core, stretched. The weather is great, scary but great. Overdressed, kept taking my gloves off and putting them back on. Same with the jacket, zip and unzip… Met the greatest number of runners ever for this area…guess we are taking advantage of the clean streets and sunshine. Enjoy the remainder of the weekend, get out if you can, rain on the program tomorrow. Truxx, how you feeling today after that long run ? Gro – ankle okay after your mountain run ?

Against my better judgement I continued on for a second loop of the cross today, and ran a small portion in the trails. I let Stephane run in the trails with Gro, must admit I was pooped out today. Nap time. That would put me at around 22.5 miles in the last three days. Opps about 40-50% increase in this weeks milage from the week before. Tired, dehydrated and the hips are a bit sore. At least I can rest tomorrow guilt free. Also with my discussion with Stephane I need to start drinking water, I rarely drink the stuff (See Below)W.C. Fields said he wouldn''t drink water because fish fornicate in it.

Happy New Year! I'm a NO for anything social, been leaving work past 7pm most days and I'm not downtown anymore... BTW I checked out the NB store this weekend, nothing to rave about and the salespeople didn't even know if the 825's were running or walking shoes... Bert at Endurance is #1. My MAA days are numbered, I just joined McGill masters swim team! Merc: Did you get the message? Open 3000 and 800 at the Claude in 2 weeks!

Thanks DR. There would have to be a Geezers 3000. I don't want to get blown away by those fast young dudes! Forget about anything shorter than 3K, even that is way too painful!! HNY by the way, and since when are you a Master, you cute young thing!Hey Truxx. Two hot new runners making the Phoenix group very competitive. I am having a difficult time keeping up for sure.

Well Merc, just to let you know, one of the biggest track meets in Canada is happening at Mcgill that weekend, so many of those young studs you speak of like me will be spectating or not there. If you can pull off an 11min 3000m again, I think you would be fine.

I concur with Gro. Freezing last night in Ile Bizard. 3 x 1 mile in 6:20 average, into a bitter, stiff wind. FROZEN fingers and a few other sensitive places. Breathing next to impossible for this geezer who has exercise induced asma. Sort of like breathing through a slurpy straw.

Merc, stop the whining your starting to sound like me. 6:20 average, I would have exercise induced asma running at that pace and that slurpy straw would feel plugged at the end. I ran this morning starting my run at at 8:00 min/mil and worked my way up to a 7:13 min/mil for the last mile, and my breathing was fine today and heart rate got no higher than 170. Slowly getting better. And the little pain I get now in the back and hips seems to recover overnight,. Now I just got to start running in the trails more, which hurts more for now, but I guess you use the core muscles more and thats what I am working on strengthening. Hello Everyone. I got in a great run this evening, to the RIver and back again. I ran it at a good pace, and I thought the conditions were great.. no ice to contend with.. no mud or puddles to avoid though the parks.. Just a nice thin layer of snow covering, and most of the pavement was dry. It is nice running more often. I am going to try and stay motivated through the winter, and blow my last years mileage out of the water.. So what are the weekend plans? I think I am in as long as these conditions keep up like this.. I think the weather is supposed to be nicer Saturday.. Let me know, and I will check back. THanks Truxx
