Back in town last night until Monday. Incredible!!! No snow at all and I ran in shorts and t-shirt this morning. This is a record for sure.

Might run Mt-Royal this Sunday, if I'm not in another weekend rush. Stay tuned.

Hello Everyone! What a day! Beautiful out there.. I ran the furthest I have yet here from my neighborhood to the freeway and back home. I would have made it to the river if I didn't have the jogging stroller, and that pedestrian pver pass with all the stairs. At least now I know how long it takes to get there.. under 45 minutes!
I got home right before we would have gotten soaked, but I decided to stay out in the drive way and clean off the stroller from all the mud that sprayed it on the trail on the way there.. I avoided the trails all the way home so it wouldn't get worse.

Let's see, Sunday.. I will be there! I am going to suggest 9:00am again, as it worked well last week.. Let's hope for a little more of this nice weather.

Mercury1, good work on the Jetty work out! I have to try that.. Maybe next Monday and Wednesday.. Or will the group be too full from their Christmas party?

With white $hit up to the door knob, six feet of ice on the lake...... hydro bills that blow yur socks off, the works.... I didn't come to Canada to get this UK weather-$hite

Truxx, 9:00 am Sunday works for me.

Grommit, good to have ya back, we need to talk....i've seemed to have lost my running mojo. This plan of mine to work on developing a little more speed and entering ROAD Races DOESN'T MOTIVATE ME . So I will work on developing to run faster but to run faster trail races. You see when I think of races like Jay, the HAT, and other trails I kinda perk up a lot it's like heading into a long week-end. When I think of of road marathons I get the feeling of going to work on a Monday morning a nessesary evil that you gotta work thru to be able to afford a fun week-end.

So who else is up for a nice Sunday run on the Mountain.

Hello everybody,

I just drop in to excuse for not being very active these days. I had a terrible rush at work. Moreover its the season where the type of positions I am looking for in Canada are posted ...

Now it's all over. My vacation started yesterday evening. And in 45 minutes the train will leave that will bring us to a city where TB would like to run a marathon. I will send a travel report after my return. Take care

Ralf

Hi Gomez. I agree with your assessment of things (except for the Hydro bills). We need to go for a run-as long as it's slow and not far.

Roly-aka the camelion- you keep changing your priorities faster tan I change my shorts. You can't hide from the speed workouts ol' boy wether it be on the road or on the trail.

Ninja. Nice to hear from you. You disappeared for a while. Thing I also heard a wimper from DR a short while back. She must have lifted her head out of the water long enough to give us a shout. I hope she doesn't wrinkle like a prune from all the swimming.

Did an easy 40 minutes last nite along the Lachine / Dorval waterfont. Strong headwind but warm. Body acted like a sail on the way back. Ribs very uncomfortable but as long as I don't pound out the pace I can tolerate the discomfort. Hopefully things will be better for the hills Monday night. Comin' Roly? How bout you Gro? Might enjoy the pain.....

Hmm, hmm.
I've cheated. My plan was to run with you guys tomorrow morning. But running under the sun today was too tempting, and that's what I did. Wow! It was good to run the good ol' (and almost dry) mont-Royal.

Merc, Priorities have always remained the same "trail running" However the means to get there have been very confusing. I know that I need to work on developing other area, speed, LT and VO2. I just recently realized that I can work on speed and getting to be a stronger trail runner and enter the races that are truer to my dreams and not everyone elses. I really respect what other coolrunners want achieve
Boston, VT100, running the fastest half, 10K or an Ironman they are all amazing goals just not mine right now. For me right now ther is only ONE RACE. I will not be happy until I complete JAY. I have to do everything I can to get me to the finish line. It may take me a few years but I will do it. Point finale.

Monday this week with Phoenix is tough I'll try to make it but don't count on it.

Roly

RalfM: Why do you tease me so? ;-) My travels will bring me there one day Good to hear from you.

As for myself, early start this morning 7:30am. Roly, I may end up seeing you on Olmstead My run bring me to Lafontaine Park, Jeanne Mance park and Olmstead so I'll be the goofy asian kid wearing yellow running around with the orange shades.

Light rain today with a mild 4 degrees. All I can say is that following the run, I'll smell *fragrant*.

Have a good one,

TB

Lookin' forward to it Scott. BTW, Monday night is Ile Bizard, Wednesday is Lachine (Jetty). Sounds like you all had fun this morning. I wanted to join you all but had to meet a contractor up in Saint Lin at 10 oam.

Found a trail today that I didn't know existed! Startd out at my place in Lachine and ran along the south side of the canal but diverted off at Clement St. in Lasalle, turning left on Des Oblats St. alongside the Mercier Bridge on ramp. Continued to the end of the street & turning left on Wanklyn going past Seagrams all on a grassy shoulder at the edge of some railway tracks. The tracks abruptly come to an end after crossing Neuman and there is the cutiest stone/grass train where tracks obviously used to serve Seagrams & Labatts. Very green, no cars or people in a very wide space between back fences on one side and Labatts & others on the other. Way cool!

As I only wanted to run about 75 minutes, I turned off at Dollard and headed to the bike path at 4 Towers (the beginning of the Aquaduct on the river, Lasalle Blvd.) and back to Lachine passing under the Mercier and back to the sixth ave. crossing in Lachine. I got the distinct impression that had I not turned off, the trail would have gone as far as Angrignon Park / Metro but I could be wrong about how far. I am sure they go at least as far as the Lasalle Legion on Shevshenko and after that, who knows. It was fab Gro!! You'da loved it. It was starting to get too dark or I might have explored further in spite of doing the achy-breaky. Anyone have any other out-of-the-way places like that, that are mostly unknown?

Yes, nice run yesterday Truxx thanks for showing up, a little slippery on the old carriage road.

So this coming week-end Saturday on the Mountain may be best for me around 9:00 am. Anyone interested.

Still working on it... Honest. Have been working like a hound since I got back, and now the in-laws are in town! I will have something for you to read... I promise. It took until Thursday to walk up & down stairs without wimpering. Even played hockey on Friday night. Wanted to run this weekend, but the in-laws...

cheers all.

Thanks again Mars.

Hi all! Nice to see you out last night Truxx, those hills are tough but you stuck to it. Hope to see you out again Wednesday. Maybe one of these days we'll have some cake for ya. I think we're all still a bit full from the x-mas feast, so it may be a while, but no worries.

For anyone interested, the Phoenix are having a Hogmanay Hustle for Scottish New Year's on Dec. 31st at 7pm on the mountain. We'll meet at the Smith House (I think) and start from there. It's not a race, just a fun run 'cause we're welcoming some visitors from Scotland, and 7pm is New Year's in Scotland. Feel free to join us, who knows, there may even be some whiskey and shortbreads, if that's any incentive. Kilts are optional. Hope to see some of you guys there. Apparently there's prizes for the best Scottish attire? That could get funny. Anyway, check out the site for more info.

Hey Roly, hope to see you out with us some time soon too. Those are some nice shoes, I like the red ones. $50 is quite a deal for those. Enjoy.

I had a great run with the Phoenix running group, at Ile Bizard. It was my first time there. I felt like I ran out of gas after the first leg out of 4.. I was trying to keep up with Mercury1, and I have to get in better shape for that! I guess I was over dressed for last night too, but I will find out something that works.
It was a great work out, and I am glad to have run with them again. I am going to try to go on Wednesday night too, if all goes well! They are all really nice, and I will start remembering names soon, I hope!

I hope everyone is off to a good start of the new week. I am glad o enjoy a few more days of running without ice on the streets.

So Truxx you made it out last night, that is quite a long trip for you. Starting to run regularly again looks like Merc's going to have some competition.

Speedyfeet looks like the Phoenix Resident Curmudgeon has blessed our pages. How it's going. I would like to run with your group more often. But with the travel time and the family schedule it's to much running around during the week. This summer when school is out and the kids activities have stopped for the summmer break I'll have more time to travel. Plus Monday night running hills doesn't fit my training with long runs scheduled on Sunday.
