PS: Good luck to TB for Sunday; Merc, Mikey, Speedyfeet and Jlo for Boston on Monday! PB's for everyone!

Hey DR. I won't be here (at least I hope to not be here!) The nearest metro is Place D'Armes. Once you get out, walk up the hill (either st.urban, or St. Francois-xavier). If you are on St. F-X, stay on that street until you walk by us - just past Notre-dame st. If you are on st. urban, cross in front of the church along notre-dame st. until St. F-X. Turn left, and we're just down the street.

Snow? WTF???
I second that!!!! AMEN!!! I feel that this snow might be my fault, as I have bought a bike, and DYING TO RIDE!!!!

Merc & TB, Best of luck to both of you!!!!

Wow, hard to believe that it is snowing back home.

The arrival was made difficult by the hotel room not being available for 5 hours: We landed at the hotel at 7:30am and lost a day of rest.

The weather has been hot. Hope of establishing a pb is diminishes as the temperature rises with each degree: I'll try to fedex some home to everyone.

The food is delicious and I am beginning to understand why people enjoy this city. I wish I had more time to visit:

The run expo was alright; as per usual, too much money was spent and I was able to see models of Asics shoes only available in Europe.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. In all honesty; I wish we had Montreal weather for the race:

Another challenge is typing on a French keyboard: The layout of the keys is different to that in Montreal:

Best;

TB

TB: Put your hands in the air and step AWAY from the buffet table...

Can't imagine how long it must have taken to type out that message!!!

Here's some coolness for you if you'll send us some heat... I think that's a great exchange.

Go do it!

I don't know yet if we will run 18 or 21k, but me being the wuss I am, that could mean 18k, only up to the Smith House then back down again, but you never know ... I may decide to run the loop at the top too if I'm stupid enough ...

Toc, toc, toc ... any takers? Anyone? We'll be going super slow ...

Hi everyone!

First ever "long run" today. To get ready for my first race I decided to run 5k. Never did it before... best distance was 4.2 up to now.

Well I did it so I know I'll be ok for the race. I am slow but it's not as bad as I thought it would be!

Have a nice week-end! Any.

P.S. If you are still going to Hurley's on the 23rd I might come along!

Well, there were no takers at the mountain ... BAH ... I don't need any of you to help me run an 18k. Humph!

Merc & the others who are going: Good luck with Boston!

TB: Good luck in Paris ... take the heat in stride ...

Any: Congrats on your first 5k run! That's a milestone! Yes, please come out to Hurley's with us on the 24th ... we're really harmless ...

Please RSVP:

HURLEY'S - TUES, APRIL 24, 7:00PM

Be there or be square. No reason not to turn out, I've given lots of notice!!

Cheers!

I was at the mountain also yesterday, at about 1:20 pm. Ran up the old carriage road around the cross and back down then ran back up and did it again. Not sure my time or distance sinse somewhere along the run my Garmin batteries ran out. I was hoping to run around 25 km, Guess i may have been a little short. Saw the lovely KJ and her freind on top, sorry I couldn't stop to chat, stupid me only had one layer on top and was feeling cold enough without stopping. Hope you both had a nice run KJ.

I have a feeling Merc is gonna hate the weather forcast for Boston Tomorrow;

FORECAST: Boston Marathon
The most up-to-date weather forecast calls for a predicted Spring storm on Monday, including heavy rains (potentially 3 to 5 inches), with the start temperatures in the mid to upper 30's. Wind will likely be East (in the face of the participants for most of the race) in the 20 to 25 mile per hour range, with gusts to as much as 50 miles per hour. This will produce a wind chill index of 25 to 30-degrees Fahrenheit.

BTW good luck today Easygo on your orienteering race.

Truxx I am assuming your running the 10K in St-Laurent, good luck and let us know how it went.

Any, congrats on your first 5k good luck in your race. Keep it up and you will be running on the mountain with us in no time.

Roly

Just returned from the race: It was a hot one today: With over 30K runners; things became crowded; Lots of elbows to deal with: However; runners were very polite saying; "pardon" everytime we bumped elbows: Chants of; "Allez" and "courqge" we echoed by the crowd throughout the race:

Things I enjoyed/
Courtesy of runners when you bumped into them
spectators

Things I did not enjoy:
weather; too hot for me as this was the first warm weather run:
Bottlecaps: we were provided unopened bottes of water so it was not uncommon to see th ground littered with bottlecaps near a waterstation:
Orange rinds qnd banana peels: Same as bottle cqps.
The two tunnels smelled like a uriinal.

As a result of the hot weather; I changed te time objective and was ai,ing for 3:40: The first 5km was run too fast and I was aimng for a 5:10/km pace: At the half; conditions started to deteriorate with the temperature heating up: From thqt point; things were reduced to long run pace with walk breaks sprinkled in liberally:

Just hung on to the finish with q final sprint effort:

Overall; I did have fun and tried my best

Congrats TB, you survived!!!

You managed your run very well. You had no choice with that temperature (the hottest mid-april since 1949). Trying to push yourself in these conditions was dangerous. It was not a race, it was a long run in Paris (which is not bad ).

Being used to run in the cold and then in the heat for a marathon is a no gainer. Consider it as a long run, and you know what? You can have your revenge in Ottawa in six weeks (that's what I did after Boston 2004).

The Boston Athletic Association site warns runners against risk of hypothermia!!! Oh my God!

Bravo TB, we just read your report, munchkin, mom and I. Congratulations on hanging tough, despite the weather, the crowded conditions, and the odor.

Ran the 10k in St Laurent this am, not crowded, the weather forecast probably kept runners away. No PB, but thats okay, it was a chance to see how my leg would hold up, and I'm glad to report no pain. Hamstring tugged a bit but that was that..

Enjoy the remainder of the weekend folks df

I hope everyone had a nice weekend! I did get in a nice training run yesterday, so I will try and keep in shape until another race sounds good.

Congrats DF. Glad to hear that your leg is cooperating. Now, all you have to do, is to take it easy this week with a day off the day before your 21k and you'll be just fine...

Congratulations for another great accomplishment, especially with this temperature contrast, TB.

Good job Df, I'm glad to know that you are doing fine.

Let's keep in touch, this week, to schedule a rendez-vous before the 21k.

TB: Wow ... 03h 49' 45" ... fantastic finish in that kind of surprise heat. You did us proud, Turtleboy ...

Merc: 15k at 1:06:04 ... Rock on!

Others at Boston: Can't wait to see your tracking times ...

Easygo: Sorry to have missed you, we decided to start later a bit later since no one posted that they'd be there at 10:30! Drat!

Anyone run outside today in this slosh? Oof, I think I'm still tired from Sat.'s run ... Whether I train outside or inside today, it will have to be swimming.
