AQUA-JOGGING. WATER-RUNNING. POOL-RUNNING. Run in da wah-tah. There's a pool at the Y! Use it!

Gag: how's the swimming? Join Masters yet?

Good Luck JB! Maybe bring back some sun and heat if you can cross the border with it...

Gomez: Chew da shoes, chew da shoes.

Anyone else racing soon? Anyone hear about the MTL-OTTAWA bike ride in February 2007?

McGill open meet this weekend... anyone besides Acidosis racing?

Watch out for the germs. Purell often. My bro has some sort of gastro (unless he`s hungover which I hope but I don`t think is the case) and I am getting rid of a slight cold... Apparently swimming clears the sinuses.... Gross, I know but why else do you think there is so much chlorine in the water? On that note, I`m off to bed. Stay warm and drink OJ.

Las Vegas update:

Picked up JB + DW at the airport at lunch time. JB looked lean and relaxed. Leaving their airport, I drove down a bit of The Strip on the way to their hotel. They could not stay away from the car windows trying to soak in the sensory overload of first-timers in Las Vegas. I think they were blown away to say the least. I dropped them off at their hotel, and then had to return to work.

While I finished my work day, JB + DW settled into their hotel room, and then did the tourist thing: get lost inside Caesar's Palace, took in the Atlantis show inside the Forum Shops at Caesar's, and checked out the Fountains at the Bellagio.

At that point, I picked them up, drove back home to pick-up Mrs. Mountmars, and we went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant (their suggestion) that's a favorite of ours. JB very generously picked the tab for a great dinner. Thanks JB!!! And thanks for the bagels!!! Mrs. Mountmars and I must have spent 10 minutes getting high inhaling the smell of real Montreal bagels. Wow... ambrosia...

Mrs. Mountmars & Mrs. JB discussed pre-race, race, and post-race strategies over dinner. JB is really excited about the race, but he's cool as a cucumber. Just the right frame of mind.

By the time we finished, it was about 8 PM... early for us, but with the 3-hour time difference and the travelling, they were pretty beat. So we drove them back to the hotel, and came home.

I'll be going to bed at a reasonable time, trying to catch a decent night's sleep before visiting the expo and a day of tourist activities. Obviously, tonight is the one to sleep since it's difficult to catch much the night before a marathon. Especially with a 6 AM gun time.

So that's it for now. I'll drop by tomorrow evening if I can.

Take care y'all.

Mars

Good morning Rol - sounds good to me, see you then.

BTW - just got in from a loop through the hood, still windy but not brutal as yesterday. Dusting of snow making it a tad slippery...nice to be outdoors. Enjoy the weekend.

Thanks for the update Mars

Roly: JB's family name is Jamieson. I was unable to locate it on the site:

http://devine.doitsports.com/vegas/

Perhaps his time chip was buggy. I'm looking forward to his race report.

Nice seeing yourself, DF7 and Truxx this morning. Keep working on speed it will be well worth the effort come next September in Toronto.

Regards,

TB

I couldn't find his results either, nor Mars' since it's been so long since I used his real name. But I got a text message:

"I DID IT!! about 5 hours. Everything hurts. Can't think straight."

Good going JB - congrats on your very first marathon - we are so entirely proud of you. You set a goal and you did it.

Thanks Mars to taking care of our boy - wish we could have been there to see you cross the line too. Congrats.

Knee: No problem bringing Naomi to my b-day party if you'd like, and could you please RSVP on the E-vite to entice the others?

Have a good evening folks,

Sally

JB's comments apply to me also...

Just out of a nice long hot shower. Gosh that feels nice. Knees a bit tender, upper-inner thighs, hip flexors, and quads really tight. Traps just barely noticeable too. But a little empty after the effort.

JB was real strong out there. I was with him for almost the first 10 miles, and we had a great time on the course. But his pace was pushing my comfort zone a little too much by then, and I encouraged him to move ahead. He did real well, didn't hit The Wall until mile 23.

On my side, because of the lack of training, I had to be real conservative with the HR. No matter, by miles 14-15, HR creep had set-in, my quads were very tight and needed stretching almost every mile, and my calves needed stretching every couple of miles. And the wind was really brutal blowing S-to-N, which included much of miles 10-18, and miles 23-26.

I took it a mile at a time, and worked as hard as I could. By far my slowest marathon ever at around 5:09 (haven't seen the official results yet), but I still had to resort to a heavy dose of mental fortitude to supplement what little training I had done in order to finish. But now it's done, JB is no longer a virgin, I've got #9, and everybody had a really fun time because overall, this is a really fun course. BTW, I haven't seen JB's time either, but it looks like he came in about 10-15 minutes before I did. He did a great job.

And I cannot forget the outstanding work of our support team, Mrs. JB and Mrs. Mountmars, who drove, ran, carried, and cheered on the outside of the entire course trying to hook up with us at agreed upon mile-marker to help us re-supply. They looked like a team from The Amazing Race running in and out of destinations.

That's it for now. I'll drop by again this week with more energy...

Mars

Good work you TWO!! JoeBoxer and MountMars!! Congratulations, and recover quickly! It sounds like a nice race, and thanks for posting even though you must be tired!

Also.. Thanks fot the nice run this morning.. Man I almost got lost up there a couple times it has been so long since I ran there, hahah.. I feel great, after another mini break, and I appreciate getting to run with our group again! Who is running where, and when next time?.. Next Sunday Hockey is a little earlier, so I would have to try to get back here about 45 min. sooner.

Bravo Marcel, merci d’avoir partagé si rapidement après l’événement. You had reservations on this one but pulled it off anyways, congratulations ! Whats next ? I mean after you’ve rested ? Liked the image of Mrs Mars and Mrs JB as a team on the Amazing Race.

Hope to hear from JB once he is back in town.
