Hello once again,

It was great to see some folks yesterday! Merc, DF (thanks for hanging out with Cordelia for a moment for me to get a picture of the other two!), and the whole Omni clan!

I did get a few pictures of some runners, that I have posted in our mtlcoolrunners yahoo page. Let me know if you need the link.

Can't seem to access the CR's Group on the web. Can't get beyond the sign-in. I continually get the confirmation email which I click on, but keep getting back to the same place. I give up.....feels like groundhog day! Hope the pics were nice. I'll rely on you all to describe them to me / us.

Yep, birthday boy, nice evening for a run. Lots of stars, beautiful moon, full on Monday, great view of the city from the 450 - colder now, quite windy.

Note to self: checking out the night sky and navigating broken pavement don't mix.

Congratulations to everyone who participated at the LaSalle event last week.

The Around the Bay event last Sunday proved to be a success. The conditions were ideal, overcast, cool, no wind nor rain. Despite having ran this event 3 years ago, the memory of the hilly course in the late stages of the run were very fresh to me.

Pacing proved to be more difficult than anticipated. This was especially true at the beginning of the event where I found myself going too fast and was reduced to exerting a mental effort to slow down.

With over 4000 runners I was never alone and got to see many runners from different running clubs including those in Montreal. Many runners were getting ready for Boston.

The hills were demanding but thankfully the hills my long runs prepared me properly for it. I am happy to report that I did not have to walk up the final hill. I did suffer though.

The finish in Copps Coliseum was a nice touch. This finish wasn't there when I ran it previously. However the steep descent and the hard right turn into the coliseum made things more complicated than required and reminded me of the entrance to the Olympic stadium during the festival de la sante.

Aside from setting a pb on this course, the most significant achievement was my ability to record a negative split. It's a great confidence builder and serves as evidence that I am capable of exercising discipline and not allow myself to be distracted by others during the event.

Let's hope that history can repeat itself in 3 weeks

TB

I felt guilty about not running, so I went out and ran one of my normal loops. I got one of my best times, if not the best! Not bad for the first run after a three week or so break! I am looking forward to more of these spring conditions.

Truxx, cool your running, now we still have to schedule a run at Bromont.

Hey LC I still O U a beer or three for saving my life last year. But can't make it to Hurleys next week.

Man the 13 KM on the road today is far more painful than 3.5 hours on the trails. My shins, back and legs are killing me.

Gro. Have you been to the Pittsfield site recently. And why am I sure there will be lots of beer at the after race feast.

BTW the total elevation change is 24,000 ft 12,000 up and 12,000 down.

Ultra Division
The last 9 miles will be a surprise.

Death Division
The mileage will be much less but there
is a liklihood of death.

I think the hights of the mountains has increased looks like a bit more than 12,000 ft

Pittsfield Peaks Elevations
Wilcox - 2840 feet
Carmel - 3365 feet
Hedgehog Knoll - 2025 feet
Darning Needle - 2885 feet
South Mt - 2065 feet
Joe's Hill - 1820 feet

Happy Friday everyone !

Was on the hill yesterday evening - muddy but clear, almost all the snow is gone. Lots of walkers, dogs and of course cyclists

Weather seems to be getting better, fingers crossed, and the weekend so far looking good - enjoy.

Congrats on the PB Ninj. Enjoy the b day celebrations Gro.

What hill are you talking about? In Illinois? The only thing around me is a small mound on the lakepath at Montrose.

Sally. Put me down for Tuesday at Hurleys.

Roly. You might want to take along a parachute to Pittsfield! Tough elevations!

Truxx. You have proved it once again. Lots of rest = fast times. That's my philosophy too. Sounds like you need more rst. Take the next two weeks off!

Anyone want a drive to Vermont Sunday for a 6 mile race? I'm going.

Was it your birthday Gro? Did I miss it? I'll tip an Alexander Keith tonight in your honor. I'll be in St. Lin, returning Saturday. When I move from Lachine on July 1st (or sooner), can I hope to get one or two of the CR,s to help me move? All you can drink and you get to visit home!
