Not Yesterday.. But I took a page out of Rolyone's notebook, and went for it at 5:00am.. I got to the trails I have been running, and the fresh powder made for the perfect start of the day! Thanks for the idea. I have been meaning to run early again and today it was nice.
So, I hope everyone enjoys the nice new snow, and makes the best of it this weekend!! Grommit.:When do you get back, Are you running the Mountain this weekend? Easygo: I guess you will be x-country skiing?

Wow! Truxx, 5 am, I'm impressed. Roly's zeal is contagious. I have to admit that his idea of a very early morning run on the Mont-Royal, one nice spring morning does'nt sound bad at all... Bonnie, can you come on Sunday? Df, I hope you enjoyed your homework free night. kj

Ah Truxx, Come to the dark side young Jedi. Cold and dark that is right now. Good job maybe when gro starts his night training for the VT100 you can join us on the trails at midnight. As for Sunday see below.

Early morning run is much more enjoyable in the Sping and Summer. Can't wait. The winter is just trudging along in the cold to keep the training going. Df7, Korina had a viral infection so no medication, she had to let it take it's couse. She is starting to feel better, just in time for Sring Break. Bad News, I woke up this morning with a cough, headache and a slight fever, that is how it started with her. Just in time for my vacation next week. so I'll see how it goes today and if I can do my long, long run tomorrow and my long run on Sunday. BTW I'm looking for a cheap used rowing machine to crosstrain, if any one knows where I can find one to buy or borrow. let me know. WoW ! You guys are serious runners ! Going on very early morning runs , tm, And by the look of this morning, snowshoeing. No joke I do admire your determination. Yes, Truxx you're right i'll be skiing this weekend. Last sunday my son (7) came in second in a 8,7 km competiton in his age groupe. My oldest, Andréa, came in fourth, same distance but different age groupe. Big Cry after missing the third place. Sad but in sport there is life lesson to be learn. No running this week, but manage to go to work by bike a couple of time. Well good bye everybody. Have a good run on sunday and enjoy the snow it won't last... OH ! almost forgot... my friend in Val-David want to organise an unofficial race/run in the spring. Nothing serious for serious runners with a B-B-Q after ( about 15 km ) and in the fall, a 23 km trail run, same concept .I'll keep you posted.see ya, easygo !

Thanks for the encouragement! I had a lot of fun this morning..I had on sun glasses to block the snow at first, but they got all wet and I couldn't see much. My face was a little numb, but when I wore a fask mask I couldn't breathe in enough air to keep up with my pace. Rolyone: Sorry to hear about you not feeling well.. Get well soon. I think soup helps! I don't agree with the winter runs just to get to the Spring.. This is another sport in and of itself! I am really enjoying the different textures of snow also.. Today it was the best.... So as for Sunday.. I think I am expected to go in earlier than 1:00pm.. Sorry I won't be able to make it unless something changed in the plans.. Kj.. I will see you soon I hope! Enjoy the weekend.. I will be here on the SOuth side it looks like. I will keep posted. Truxx

Roly: I've been sick for over 2 weeks now, started as a cold that wouldn't get better nor worse over 6 days then got better for a day, then got worse: had a hacking cough, sore achiness all over, fever, now I'm 2 weeks + in and I'm coughing, lost my voice, sore throat + the nasal congestion/sneezing has returned... CLSC says it's normal, flu bug lasts a month these days, pharmacist says that's bull**it. I'd watch out and go see a doctor if it lasts more than 10 days.

Hugs DR. Actually no. I might catch it too, but you know what I mean. Take care of yourself! Easy in the pool. Lots of infections sit there on the surface waiting to hitch a ride.Truxx. You seem to be running up a storm these days. Can it be that you are getting serious? Woooohooooo. Lately I have been taking more days off than running. For every day I run I need two days to recover, it seems. Not the way it should be, especially with Boston creeping closer. May be some underlying issues I need to check out. We'll see. Have a great weekend everyone. If there is a mountain run tomorrow, I might be up for it. Gonna do an hour or so today if I can find some plowed road. The weather is spectacular out there. It gives us hope. (at least until Tuesday)

DR Sorry to hear you were sick for so long. I felt pretty bad most of the day yesterday and with about 2.5 hours of shoveling and being very tired I went to bed early. Woke up feeling great this morning, go figure. Truxx, don't bail we were going to meet up at 11:00 am. Merc, KJ, you in? Sinse I felt so good this morning got in an 18.1 mile run in 3 hours 3 minutes. So tomorow I think I'm good for only one loop at the top, ok maybe two. but nice and easy.

I'll be there I would like to meet them too. BTW if anyone wants to try a trail race the Pittsfield Ultra Challenge has a relay option for 3 member teams. Each member has to summit at least two of the 6 peaks. Truxx/Merc/Df7 Team 1 Chops/SS/TB Team 2 KJ/JB/Easygo Team 3 ext....

Great! see you tomorow Roly -just be as cool as usual please -I'm using you to impress my friend. I just phoned Truxx to try to convince him but he has to work... Humph! I think he should really review his priorities. About Pittsfield, if others are interested to team up, I might be into this, it sounds life fun!

Intriguing idea Roly, and interesting team make-up but I will have just completed the Ottawa Halfand the following week-end by the Pierrefonds 10K, so I will need a bit of a break in all probability. What distances are we talking about anyway?

50 miles divided by 3 person teams so about 17 miles a person over two mountain peaks.

But where? So hard to figure it out with my being on the big screen and all ... DR: Hope you're feeling better soon ... have you ever thought about taking some time off from training so hard and RESTING? Roly: Yeah, take it easy tomorrow, that was a super long run ... Merc: I'll probably run something at Ottawa, don't know yet what ... either the half or the full, but this winter, I've run so little ... don't know ... don't know ... Soooo tired, look who's going to bed before 4am? Sally ------------------ "Follow your bliss" My Ironwoman Inklings

Sounds like a cool relay, guys! Wonder if someone can videotape it...!Sally: I did rest, Saturday I did NADA. Nothing. I only went out to buy fruits and juice and crackers. Other than that I slept all day and didn't even do physio! I'm going to rest today too then try going to practice Monday morning. The swimming seems to help with the breathing... or is it the hot steamy shower... DF: Sorry I didn't get to bump into you before I left the MAA (and the hot steamy shower and the steam room and the sauna...)... Hope you're doing well, and keep swimming! BTW for the first time in YEARS, I am not hungry. Me... not hungry. Can you imagine?

KJ et al. Are you doing the mountain today at 11:00? Where will you meet. At the statue? I will go if I can figure out where to park the car. Must be pretty tough at that end of town with all the snow.

Thanks for the run guys & gal. Nice to see you again in such nice weather! Had a nice workout on the upper half and even nicer going down to the start. Worded as if I was on the downhills at Boston, keeping my torso forward of my knees and keeping my heart rate above 168. Very invigorating. Sorry I couldn't stay longer but I promised a lady runner friend (retired teacher) that I would meet her for coffee on Parc. We must do that more often! Sorry we couldn't have Sally with us but there will be other days.

Unfortunately I started my run early so I was done by 11am. This is pretty much it. I'm looking at the training program and the intensity, frequency and duration are on the rise. On some level, I knew that this would occur but find one self in the middle of it with no signs of relief until the beginning of April is not very encouraging. The shin splint on my left leg remains and I do not anticipate this injury recovering. My goal is to prevent it from becoming worse. I started using a half water/half Gatorade solution on my long runs today and it does help. Core program and drills consume the majority of my time. Just looking forward to running without any specific purpose in mind. Have a good week. TB

Thanks, KJ, Norman and Mercury for a nice run today on the mountain. I must admit yesterdays run took a lot out of me. The legs were fine it was the physical and mental fatigue that was hard to fight. Tomorrow will be a full day of rest and Tuesday will be a lite bike ride to get the blood flowing thru the legs. TB, Take care of those shin splints, They can lead to a stress fracture. http://www.rice.edu/~jenky/sports/shin.html
