I'm having a birthday party for daughter's 13th birthday today and seven 13-year-olds will sleep over... so I'm not sure about tomorow, what kind of shape I'll be in. So far so good, I still might go running. But dont wait for me if I'm not there by 9:00....

Good luck to the Ile Bizarders tomorow.

I should be at the Gates at 8:30 .

Truxx, you going to join at the monument at 9:00 or want to meet up ealier at the cemetary gates at 8:30 on Mount Royal Street. Get in a little trail run with Gro. I can call and give you directions.

Ran for a 1.5 hours in the woods near home on some pretty soft pack snow that felt like running on sand.

Here is an interesting story of a local from Verdun who won the Boston Marathon in 1937.

Can someone turn off the wind switch please?

Third long run in a row that I'm struggling against strong wind. Ok, I know, that 's the price to pay for staying in the countryside. But still. I don't really mind the cold, but the wind can be tough.

Finally we got a real winter. Not as harsh as 2003 and 2004, but colder than last year for sure. As I'm training for the NCM, I'm just beginning to put mileage and I did my first 15 miler today (well, not quite, but close). So I'm thinking of you guys who are training for Boston or Paris.

Speaking of long runs, I really like running long, maybe because I take it easy. Always liked it. But I still hate threadmills, but it's better than running at -20 with a 50 km/hr wind. And I'm getting used to it. I don't regret that one month pass at the local gym.

And as weeks go by, we are in the middle of February and hopefully it will be a bit warmer and less windy for my next long run next weekend in Mtl.

(I wonder if I should bandit the hypothermic run...)

Good for you for doing your 15 miles in the wind today, RG. Dont despair, the best weather of the year is just around the corner!

My goal this week is just to run 30 minutes every morning before work -I go all the way to the top of the Mont-Royal stairs and back. That's all I can manage, these days.

My lowerback is strained since december but I found out that doing the 'Child pose' asana as many times as possible during the day really helps.

Truxx, did you go running with Grommit and Roly this morning?

Unfortunately we missed both you and Truxx's company today we waited at the mounument as long as we could before starting to get cold. Another 2 hour run with Gro, on the Mountain and in the trails. So much for starting my taper this week-end for next weeks half, oops.

Df, when Whiteface is calling, you got a do what you got a do.

Yeah... I survived the party. They were all very sweet (even the one who called 911 as a joke -no kidding, believe me, he's not about to do that stoopid trick again). I almost bankrupted myself with the new iPod gift but resistance is futile -these things are too cool to abstain from.

Did yours chose her highschool yet?

Ok, below 20 tomorow. I'm not doing my 30 minutes. I admit. It's supposed to get warmer by Wednesday, right?

Hey knee - apparently it "feels like -28" at the moment, I'm checking cause if its snows heavily tomorrow, you know how it is, schools might get closed ...and it looks like Thursday is cold as well then warmer Friday through the weekend.

Nope, she hasn't chosen yet..uniforms have to be purchased this spring..english equivalency placement (sp) tests...will have to have a family pow wow again...

911 call and it was a "he" hunh ? Sounds like quite the party.

Take care of your back..

Merc - you okay ?

Hi Df. Yup, I'm just fine....a day older but fine.......Took yesterday off and rethought my Boston strategy. Quads quite sore from the Hivernale hills in Ile Bizard.

On reflection, started a bit fast - 1st kilometer up the hill in 3:45, followed by the slop through the golf course. Looking closer at the results, it seems everyone was from 2 - 3 minutes off their usual 10K times. I felt I was in 38:30 shape but hoping for a sub-thirty-nine. My 41+ was a bit of a shocker but considering that I decided to shut down for the last 5K, I shouldn't be too suprised.

A bit more mileage and lots more hills are now the new strategy! Ugh. Lungs almost dryed out.

Yesterday got in a 6.4 km run at 4:50 min/km pace.

Easy 5km this morning at 5.19 min/k pace. Funny last year that pace was a tempo run. Yeah progress.

KJ early morning runs are not so bad, so will I have company for a 6:00 am run up the mountain this spring.

Wow, glad to hear about your progress Roly. Good going, you are so steady.

6:00 am on the mountain on a WEEKEND? Hahaha. No thank you, this is one level to far for me (into insanity).

It was very difficult out on the roads this morning. I had a tough time this am, was up at 5 to get going because I wasn’t sure about the status of the schools. When I finally left munchkin’s school and rushed back out in that horrendous wind to catch the next bus, we heard a loud thud.

The bus driver hit a young woman crossing the street. We didn’t know if she was killed but when we herded off to catch another bus, some of the folks stayed to look after her, she was conscious and crying, on her side in the snow.

Plse be careful, don`t let your guard down for a minute if you are running outdoors today or any day. Even if a driver does see you, he may not be able to stop. The roads are slick and the wind affects visability. Don`t take any chances, I keep hearing the thud as I try to work.

This, from someone, who plays chicken in traffic all the time. I’m not feeling so good right about now.

DF, what a horrible story.

You're right, we gotta be careful. But fortunately, here in Mt-Ste-Anne, they have cleaned the road very early this morning and I did my run in perfect condition (except for that brutal wind). We got over 30cm of snow last night.

As a bad news never come alone, in Quebec City, parents and friends are still looking for a 16 years old who went running last evening and never came back.

Nope, just got home, thought about her alot today. Gag, they are still looking for him, it doesn't look good.

6 sluggish ks on the t/m at the MAA, it was relatively quiet, guess the weather had people heading home.

Friday tomorrow, bring on the weekend.
