Belated appy Birthday Ninja! Ahhhh, to be 16 again!Gomez!! What did you do with my Gazette? Sally, Roly, Df et al. Did you seriously run outside today? I played it safe when I heard the forcast and did my long run last night. Two hours and fifteen minutes from Lachine to Beaconsfield and back. I love running along the water, though it was a bit breezy. Tried out some Dollar store hand warmers for the first time and they work. Problem is, they glow for eight hours so if your run is only an hour or two.........? They actually get warmer as time goes on so I left them down for my cat, who had a good night sleep on them.

3.1 miles @ 7.27 min/mile + 5.4 miles @ 8.13 min/mile on the TM. Total 8.5 miles in 1:07:32 It's just too easy having the TM in the house. I'm training for the treadmill Olympics. Bonus work: 25 k on the bike and some weight training. Tomorow I will attempt to run in the trails near home for a slow 12 mile run. [This message has been edited by rolyone (edited Jan-20-2007).]

Nope, just snowboarding ....BRRRRR!!! That wind, right into my face. I saw a man with frostbite on his face. No running tomorrow either - I cancelled the morning run with my friends. Supposed to be something like -19C with windchill -32C or something silly like that. I'm going to the pool. Any takers? Hope everyone's having an amazing weekend! Any one interested in a 2.5 km snowshoe race up Mount Royal on February 22, 2007. Snowshoes are available at the race on race day for those who don't have.http://www.lemontroyal.qc.ca/en_lesamis/25.html Too cold for me today I'll run on the TM again I'll put up the heat and play tropical music and pretend it's summer.

Pretty chilly out there this morning when the unforgiving wind was blowing. Legs were unresponsive resulting in a slower pace. Saw a group of Running Room runners (10 and 1ers) so I guess they were in training for the Ottawa marathon. Overall despite defying conventional wisdom running under these conditions will turn me into a mentally tougher runner.Had the pleasure of seeing DF at the gym during my cool down period. Went for breakfast and enjoyed her company. Have a great day everyone. TB

Question : Have any of you swam at the CEPSUM? Are any of you members and would like to go swim at 6:30am on tuesday or thursday to check it out? TB: Working off the big Portugese supper??? You at least ate the sprig of parsley right? Ms. (forgot her name) at the reception told me you'd gone out for a run... I spent 3 hours in the pool swimming, drills and poolrunning with Jen... I've decided that while the pool is small, it's a great place to practice breath control and hypoxic sets... I'm off to buy one of those bank robber face masks and I don't care what I look like in it...

8 miles on the T/M, bright and early - didn't want to try outdoors, shame, with the sunlight at lunchtime, perhaps not bad after all. To avoid the boredom of the gym, tuned in the tunes and cnn...should be some interesting moments coming up in american politics. Thanks for the company over eggs & bacon afterwards young man..remember what the lone diner who had been listening to us told us when we got up to leave ? He had watched a show covering people who lived longer then others and the common factor among the group ? They were passionate about something. Have a good week everyone - 'fly PS - Roly - did your tropical run include flowered swimming trunks and a rum punch after ?

Thanks Roly but I will list my summer schedule (tentative) in a moment. Nice work-out on the TM, btw. Good pace, nice mileage. You must have burned a patch out of the tapis. No outdoors today, no way. Easy TM day at the YMCA. 45 minutes, starting at 8.0 mph for the first 10 minutes, 8.3 for the next 10m, 8.6 for the next ten and finished up with 8.8 mph. Heart rate finally reached 160 bpm's which was as fast as I wanted it to get, since it was my easy day off before getting back to business tomorrow with Phoenix. My anticipated race schedule (provided I remain injury free) is: Jan. 28 - Ottawa hypothermic (Half) Feb. 11- Ile Bizard (10K) March - Lasalle (10K) April - 1st- Westford, VT. (10K) 17 - Boston May 16 - St. Therese 10K 27 - Ottawa (Half) June 2 Pierrefonds (10K) 24 Montpelier, Vt. (10 miler) July 4 South Hero, VT. (10K) 9 Utica Boilermaker (Half) 16 Stowe, Vt. (8 miler) August DDO (?) 19 Great Raison River Run (Williamstown) Sept. Run for the Toad Vaudreuil (15K) Toronto Waterfront Marathon OR Oct. Hudson Mohawk Marathon (Albany) OR Ottawa Fall Colours Marathon (undecided on the Fall Marathon) Cross des Couleurs (12K) Park Lafontaine (10K) WHEW! There it is. Ambitious, but racing is fun, especially 10K's. Anyone want to join in with me on any or all of these races? Comments?

Hello All! It was a beautiful weekend! I finally made it out running right before the sun went down. It was nice, I kept a mellow pace, and found some deserted roads so I could stay off the ice. I didn't want to mess with the trails because the park seemed pretty crowded, and I still don't know which trails are groomed, or what is the proper thing to do with those cross country tracks.. run with them, next to them, in the middle.. what? I just don't want to get anyone too mad.. there is so little snow this season. Anyways.. I was out there for an hour, and I enjoyed it.Mercury1, Wow.. what a schedule.. I will be there for the 10k in Feb, and march hopefully.. I still have to check with the family schedule, but I am sure I can manage something. Truxx

Greetings from Mt-Ste-AnneMy race schedule is not as detailed as Merc. But one thing for sure, I registered for the Mtl half in April and I'll probably register tonight for my 4th NCM (Ottawa). What can I say, it's a good ol' favorite. If I'm in Mtl I might run at l'île Bizard and LaSalle, just to see if I'm in shape. The hypothermic race is a half, isn't it? This week is my first officially training week for Ottawa. After building a 50k base a week, I'll start this week adding a bit of volume until I get a max of 90k. P.S. My evil contracts is now over, so I have my weekends free!!! Yeahhhhh!!! [This message has been edited by runningag (edited Jan-24-2007).]

Hopefully will be back at it on the weekend and add some skating.

Gro. You are the first (and last) one to call me "organized." I'll take your laundry though and stash it under my bed with my last two weeks worth. Second night- off in a row. Too cold and too tired. Weather puts this weekends race in serious doubt due to Raynauds Syndrome and exercise enduced ashma brought on by the cold. Heard rumors of -40 degrees? Better find a blankee for Gomez!

That sucks, I'm sure you'll be on track soon enough. So when is the big day that you aiming to break the 2;00 hour barrier. RG, were at about the same weekly milage I'm running around 30-35 miles a week. this week I'm scheduled for 34-35 miles. Gro/truxx this week-end is filling up fast next week I have more time plus it looks cold for this week-end. Merc, I suffer a bit of asthma in the cold as well, I start weezing alot. So 5.5. miles in the warmth of my basement this morning, yesterday I was sliding around in the snow near home. Well I think I found a race I would like to try I'll start the training after the Montreal; Hypothermic Half and see how it goes. I'll keep it quiet for now and see how the training goes Gro You wouldn't approve.

To run or not to run..... outside. This is the question.Good news, there is a gym near Beaupré. But I don't know what to do, endure the cold or the boredom of a threadmill?

Hmph! Got my answer! I have just realised that I forgot all my winter outfits in the washing machine and I never put them in the sécheuse. And if it's still to cold tomorrow, I might as well run 13 miles on a threadmill....
