Week one of work and swimming practices... : Tired and sore. Replaced yesterday's run with a pool run, I think I am addicted to chlorine... Gag: you still swimming? Watch the ankles out there, the slush is hiding the holes in the road...

These days no, 'cause I'm at Mt-Ste-Anne. I haven't abandoned, it's just that the pool is replaced by the slopes. It's not as cardio as swimming, I admit, but running after a half day skiing is tough.

You weren't kidding Cold, windy and slippery. Almost fell coming out of the garage. Shuffled the hood for 1/2 hour, tears freezing to my face. There is som sun, hopefully the streets will be better as the day progresses.

At least we`re not in Manitoba... -37C, -48 with the wind... WOAH. If it gets that bad, I`m hitting the pool for a water run. In the meantime I`m gonna go check out the Montreal winter air as DF did this AM..

I made it out there this morning.. It was cold leaving the house, and I realized I should go back and get the traction grips, or whatever.. So I was able to convert my shoes to winter ones with those things, and it was the first time I ran with them it think.. I might have brought them before, but I don't remember a whole run with them.. Anyways my run was at St.Bruno, and I did a couple loops around one lake and a figure 8 to get back to it in between.. The total time was around about 1:10.. but I was pushing the baby stroller too.. I am going to classify the whole run as a hill run! Pushing that thing in the snow slows you down a bunch!! Believe me!.. Anyways, it was a beautiful day to run, and it is still gorgeous outside!! Get some spikes or drill your shoes, and go for it! I am hooked.. winter running is going to be my new thing!Truxx

What's everyone talking about ice and cold. I ran in shorts and a HR chest strap only this morning 20 degrees in my basement on the TM. 10 K in 48:12 getting closer to my short term goal of sub 45 minute 10k. Did you run at Mont St. Bruno, if so how about we meet next week-end at Mont St. Bruno. I have yet to run there and would love to try it.SS, Sorry won't be able to make it to Hurley's.

Rolyone: Yes next weeked it is! You name the time (Saturday, Early)assuming no hockey or work), and I will be there! I have it dialed, but there is still lots that I have to learn. So we can decide together the distance, and it is nice that all the trails lead back to each other, so you can't get lost!! ( So far) Cool.. I will be looking forward to that all week. I am really fortunate it is so close, so I can get there as early as you want to make it...Headlamps??(check) hahah I hope everyone enjoyed this nice day! Wow..Sunny!! Truxx I was thinking more like Sunday morning if your available, or Saturday afternoon. Saturday morning My oldest has Ballet then drum lessons, thats when I'm home with the youngest bonding. Also would you be able to provide directions to Mont St. Bruno.

I wiped out at "grand vitesse" coming down the steepest part of my route and took a chunk out of my knee.... didn't feel a thing frozen/endorfin stoked legs.... just got up and kept going.... but when I got home and took the tights off.... impressed the hell out of boys but got the royal rolling of the eyes from K..... not impressed... Any body running in the am? G

No Invite required if you wanna run with us you just say so. Running on my own latter today sticking close to home. Mollasses wouldn't want to slow anyone down.

Pretty nippy out there today. Long run with a running partner of mine. Word to the wise, when designing a course to run, always know where the washrooms are. Fortunately we were able to locate one in Maisoneuve park for him. Following the run, time was spent on the information superhighway looking for rest stops (gas stations are your best friend). I'll be at Hurley's Tuesday night following my run. Have a great week everyone. TB

..... I'd agree with TB on the temp, nippy[nice word].... I managed to find another couple of hours last night to repeat saturday's workout.... minus 1 loop. I love these trails.... runnig in the dark, they are sublime! Managed to stay upright the whole time, headlamp ablazing... tunes way too loud.... very focused on the floor... About 28 miles for the weekend, 4:13... nice to have my mojo back and now to work..... argh! grommit ps. for those who care.... I've added a page to the blog to track the build up to july 22nd... this year's event! ..... there, now I'm publicly commited! Yikes

..And I'll be tracking your progress and hopefully run some trails with ya.. and Mont St-Hilaire in the spring. Just going to keep training to run the Hypothermic half then build up more milage after. Run the Whitface race and see where my training brings me. Wait and see what crazy Dan is planning for the new Jay. [This message has been edited by rolyone (edited Jan-15-2007).]

For sure, Gro, will be checking up on you and you got your wish today, snow. Anyone try to run outdoors today ? Where are Chops, Knee, Omni, JB ? Shame, Montreal thread seems to be dwindling down to a handful of contributors. No running today and had to cancel the pool plan. Make up for it tomorrow. Going to be colder over the next couple of days..

Been thinking the same thing. 5.1 miles at 3:45 am 1 mile w/up, 3.1 miles @ ave pace 7.30 min/mile + 1 mile cool/down. I guess when you heat up molasses it runs a little faster.

Yeah I made it out last night to try out the real snow thing!! I had my new winter shoes on, and made it to the park, and then after found a trail that looked like people had walked on at least.. So I gave it my best, and only made it about 8 minutes in there until it turned into the little groomed trail, and that snow was no good! So I just wandered around a bit more, and then called it quits.. I had a little wipe out, and after the numbness wore off I still don't feel any pain, so that is cool! It was really minor.. I have a lot to learn about different snow conditions for running.. due to the lack of experience. I know.. I am not used to training... haha I hope everyone else finds a little spot to enjoy this stuff.. I am going to keep exploring and finding the best snow\! Truxx
