I had a change of plans and I'm actually going to be running the Half this weekend as well. I'm sure I'll see you guys there.

I fear no beer, bring on the green!

Congrats Spencer!

Hahaha!!

I ran your Cherry Blossom Marathon yesterday, and WOW! was I impressed. I swear there were more cops on the course than runners.

Too bad my car broke down about 15 miles out of town, I had to pay $80 for a tow-job, $420 for repairs, $70 for an extra night in the motel (even had to change rooms), $20 cab fare(to the marathon start!) while car was in the hospital. It was a mess.

However, the marathon took my mind off all that. It was one of the best supported events I have ever attended (20 marathons). Every aid station had the nicest people (even us "back-of-the-packers"), the cops were out en masse (great for a marathon), traffic control was impeccable, even in town.

My congratulations to Macon, Georgia. The CBM is one high-class event.

Did you see this story on marathonguide.com?

quote:

Cherry Blossom Festival Marathon - Mar 18 - Macon, GA
The course was long for the frontrunners, ugh... Chuck Engle was leading the race, following a policeman in the lead car when the road came to a T, the policeman stopped, rolled down his window and said "which way does the course go?" Well, the course went a totally different direction altogether and by the time the lead runners were back on course, they had clocked an 18+ minute mile from the six mile mark to the seven mile mark... The result, a 28+ mile marathon for the lead runners and times which Andrew Musuva (a great runner and eventual winner) and Chuck Engle will wish to expunge from their records. Andrew Musuva, whose PR is in the 2:teens and generally runs in the high 2:20s and low 2:30s was the winner in a "time" of 2:47:41.

If you meant the "preceeding," then, yes, it's serious.

It was my first Georgia marathon, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, I was nowhere near the front, so I didn't have the extended version.

I also didn't realize that the Cherry Blossom Festival was such a big deal in Macon.

Oh hi guys. This is where you've been hiding. I have checked the old forum for weeks now. At least I have something to read for a while to get caught up!

I think the CBM was run fairly well. There must not have been any law enforcement anywhere else but at the marathon. My biggest area of concern was while running the ending stretch along Forsyth Rd. Traffic was zooming by with mirrors not far from runners.

I see Alan ran a great time. Josh and Perry, did you guys run under an alias? Didn't see your name anywhere.

Has anyone run the Dogwood festival 5k in Perry before? If I am not working I am going to go and try it out. I figure it will be a nice race for a comeback. I haven't raced at all since January and I miss it. By the end of this year I hope to be under 18 minutes. I will crack it if it kills me!!!!!!!!!!!

Perry is a good race...it's a good course to try and pr on...it's pretty flat.

I got a question about Cherry Blossom....there was a group there taking pictures for the race. Does anyone know what group this was? How about a website?

Oh..and Jeff Galloway is going to be speaking at Run Fit Sports this afternoon.

Alright then...thanks man. That will help me to get some confidence back. I am struggling with being slower. It is crazy how only 1 month can just kill your conditioning. I think I am doing better now, but 2 weeks ago it was depressing.

It was a good day at the Dogwood Festival 5K, despite the rain. Alan ran alone to an impressive 15:10 (I know you wanted sub 15, Alan). The chase pack got lost. But, Clark still pulled out an 18 min. 2nd place finish. FPD runner Erin Colunga was 1st female.

The rain turned out to be a good thing for Fila and Run Fit Sports, as everybody crowded under the tents when the bottom fell out. It seems that every name I pulled out of the drawing box was a friend of mine. But, it was a complete coincidence.

The Twisted Ankle trail marathon that I was planning to run is now full. That's what I get for procrastinating, I guess. So, I'm looking for another goal race the end of May. I ran a solid 20 miler today. So, I need to use that endurance for something.

Maybe if the mile splits wasn't in the wrong spot I would have pushed for the extra 10 seconds. According to the the third mile I ran it in 4:29 .The Nike Air Coos felt great .Did a 14 miler in them yesterday." Hell of a pair of Shoes" quote from Bill Bowerman in Prefontaine .

whats up guys. its kurt. Perry, sorry i didnt get out there to run that 20 with you. but today i did a good tempo and then i ran about 7 with Buddy Davis, it put me a little over ten today. well im going to have to start tampering down for this track meet. I decided to drop out of the 10,000 and just watch those guys run. but im planning on running the 5,000 and the 3,000 steeple. Alan im glad you like those Coos's and a 15:10 is still a good time for you running on your own. well its time to go.

Good luck to Philip and Kurt as they go to Savannah for some track racing this weekend. Alan, are you running anywhere?

It looks like the foot is almost better and I'm thinking of doing a road race next saturday. Is there one in Macon or the area next weekend?

I know the MSO course is a tough one, do anyone know anything about the Bobcat race and how the course is? I've also considered doing that cherros race in Covington, they have both a 5/10k. I'm not looking for anything special, but I don't want to run a tough course for my first race back, and I'm not expecting a whole lot. Just sub 17 for the first one back.

Bobcat is ran in downtown, so it should be flat. But it would be alot of turns. I think its going to be a good race. The GC&SU cross team, i think, are going to be in the race, thats will some competition.

Dowtown Milledgeville is pretty hilly , alot of rolling hills. I'm gonna go and run the course wednesday to see it can handle a fast pace. I got ahold of the course map and it has 18 TURNS , average of 6 turns per mile. So depending on how the course is I might be there. I need that sub 15.

the track meet well. Friday Caleb and Phil ran the mile ( Caleb 4:38 and Phil 4:50), the womens 10k was interesting Michelle La Fuer won with a sub 36 and Donna Graciea a sub 38. Also Kutter ran a 31:44 by himself. My 5,000 go so well but the steeple was awesome. I almost didnt run it. But after the first water jump it went smooth, but i bruised my heel. I ran it in 12:26 but i was just playing around. I plan on doing another sometime soon.

I didnt know Millegville was hilly, the parts i have been in were flat. I was right about the turns though. Maybe you can still run a good time.
