Yeah, the Buggython was pretty tough. Plenty of hills and a fairly tough course. I think the fact that I didn't taper for it like i did Labor Day and the absence of anyone to run with at the 3 mile mark slowed my time a bit. No complaints, though; overall good race.In other news, i just got some Nike Air Zoom Elite 2's. Fairly light weight and quick feel. Im going to do some 400s on the track with Perry and the Mary Persons boys on friday morning to get some leg turnover for Camp Little Shot. I'll let everybody know how they are. Im not a Nike Freak, and it will take a lot to get me out of my Mizuno Wave Aeros. Who knows, these shoes just might offer me the stability i need in my life right now. LOL. Nah, to heck with that...how bout a nice easy 20 miler this weekend, Perry? Mileage last week: 47 Marathon Countdown: 8 weeks 2 days Long Run: 17 -Phil

How was Little Shot? Anybody doing Macon Challenge Sunday? I got my 10K PR at that one last year, but the route has changed (and so have I; s-l-o-w-e-r!) Scott and I rode our bikes dowtown today and I think we figured out the route based on what the dude told him, but it wasn't marked so we're not positive. The Xterra Scramble 5K/10K is the same day, but in the afternoon at 2:30, I think. I've never done an off-road race so I might try it out. It's up near Athens though, so it depends on how much $ I have for gas that day. (I can ride my bike to the Macon Challenge.) Of course, that'll change if anyone wants to carpool to try something new. Any takers? [This message has been edited by runawaygirl (edited Oct-10-2005).]

Little shot was hilly. I hear that this is a usual occurence for this race, but i didnt know that there literally wasnt a flat spot on the course. Hills are typically my strength, so i ran decently well, but it's definately not a course to set a P.R. on. It all went to a good cause, and there was an excellent turnout so im happy. For this upcoming weekend, i was orginally going to shoot for Peachtree City 15k, but im not going to be able to get off work at Run Fit and i think that they have met their limit on entries anyway. My next choice was Macon Challenge on Sunday. Just got off the phone with Corkery, and he said that it was definately canceled. Just F.Y. I. Sooooo, with that said, a 10k trail race sounds great. I do about 50% of my mileage out at the Georgia Childrens Industrial Home, so im sure i could handle it. Money is an issue of course, and i would prefer to carpool with someone if possible. I dont mind driving, as long as i get some gas money. Shoot me an email or just stop by the store. therunnerboy@hotmail.com -Phil

Thanks for the info - I guess I won't be riding my bike to a race anytime soon after all. Scott works out at the Health Club sometimes with the race director for Macon Challenge. He'd mentioned something to him about problems with state funding this year. I guess that's what happened.More folks available to go to the Xterra race, I guess. For me, it's going to depend on rain (and still gas money, of course.) But if I know it's going to be slogging through mud, I'll leave it up to the hashers. I've only tried hashing once, and I skipped it Saturday because it rained all day Friday - I'm not quite that adventurous yet. Y'all let me know if anyone else wants to go to Xterra. Maybe we can get a good Macon Tracks group together.

Anyone doing the "O" run this weekend. I think I might do it considering it seems like a small race and I will have a better chance of finishing higher in the standings. I am half way to my goal of losing 20lbs. I am down to 175. The last 2 weeks I have mangaged to log 32 to 34 miles and I am feeling pretty good. I probably will run the 10k at the "O" and call that my tempo run for the week. Spencer

Never mind about Xterra - turns out there's something else I have to do Saturday afternoon. If anyone still goes, be sure to tell us about it.

Well great news everybody. Since my dissapointing run at the Air Force Half Marathon I have been trying to drop some weight. Well, I dropped 10 pounds and it payed off. I ran the Oxygen Fitness Center 10k and finished 2nd overall...not a lot of competition there....but I PR'd by over a minute. My previous best 10k was 39:11 at the Jim Herrin Run.....but today I felt awesome and I ran a 38:08!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't even push myself to full capacity because within the first mile I knew I was getting 2nd place behind this Air Force triathalete and because everyone behind me was already WAY behind me. I only ran really hard in the last 1/4 mile or so. The whole race I just felt so relaxed and poised. No back pain, no nothing. So I am pretty happy. I am thinking that if I keep training hard I can finally break 18 in the Geico 5k. Spencer------------------ http://interwovendesign.com/kick/userdisplay.php3?username=sjoranje

Well, the new route for Susan Komen Race for the Cure was challenging compared to the old one (IMHO.) Kudos to Anne Wright who organized the best start I've ever seen at that race. Not a single walker at the start line, for a nice change. Weather was great too. Only regret...Does S K R f t C always have to be the same day as the GISA State XC Meet? Couldn't we hold it the next weekend? Scott

20 miler??? I wish - it's been awhile. I was actually thinking about doing the Boston Mini-Marathon (1/2) on Saturday, but only until I looked at a map and saw how far away it is. It's practically in Florida.

You should think about the Silver Comet Trail half. I did it last year and really enjoyed it. It's a fast course; not much to see, though.

Amber My 20 miler will be done very slow.I considered doing Boston also but the drive down and back is bad, especially on Ga-Fla football Saturday. My next race might be "Strong Legs" in Atlanta Oct.12th. I half way committed to running it with a friend. What about everyone else? Any races planned. Steve

T-minus two weeks to the 5K at GEICO on Nov 12th. Scott and I borrowed Perry's wheel and measured it today. So far, so good, but I'm getting a little nervous about how well I'll pull it off since it's my first time directing. Gary Musolf's been directing the springtime race there for 22 years running - he's a tough act to follow, but he's allowing me to learn at the feet of the master. Anyway, if you want a wicking shirt for only $15, registration needs to be postmarked by Nov 9 or you can do it on active.com. It goes to $20 after that. Either way, it's a great deal. Hello everyone! I hope the running in Macon is going well. We have our biggest meet of the year this saturday in Tampa. We've already won our Conference meet, but this is Regionals and it's time to put up or shut up. We have to finish in the top 3 to make it to Nationals, and we're currently ranked 3rd...so lets keep our fingers crossed that it happens! Good luck to everyone in all of their races coming up. I'll let you know how it goes!Steve - I wish I could join you on those long runs and do a marathon...but coach says my marathon days are done until I'm out of school. I have to agree on the Susan G Komen Race. Much kudos to the organizers. I didnt even have too much trouble weaving through the walkers in that last stretch on Forsyth. My only somplaint were the huge timing chips, but dealt with it no problem. Overall a great race for a great cause.Congrats on the trip to Nationals, Josh. Keep me posted on how you do. Well, i was just checkin in on here. It's sunday, and that means that it is time for a long run. I'll let everyone know how it goes. -Phil

Great Geico race, runawaygirl. The rolling hills were perfect, and i loved the finish in the parking lot and the gravel road. If there are results posted anywhere online, i would appreciate the link. Too bad i didn't get the win, but i just didnt bring my "A" game. My mileage is kinda high right now, and my long runs are really long from all this marathon training. Kenneth wanted the win bad, and he ran a great race. Much congrats to him.Immediately after my last post on here, i headed out to do my long run for the week. It was a 20.5 miler. Ran just under 2:34. Bout 7:30 pace. It's slightly off of my 7:15 goal pace for the St. Jude Marathon on Dec. 3rd, but i have a feeling that my fartleks and tempo runs will carry me through when race day gets here. Im going to go 22+ today. I will let everyone know how it works out for me. This will be the last long run. Mileage last week: 72 Marathon Countdown: 2 weeks 6 days Long Run: 20.5 -Phil

Phil, i did a 20 miler this weekend also. My pace was a good bit slower than yours. Good luck on the marathon.I ran down at the river yesterday afternoon and ran into Bill Harrison. He was there on his bike because his back has been giving him trouble. The river trail will be a great place when they expand it a little. Question for anyone with a GPS type watch. Do you like yours and would you recommend it? I get tired of checking my distances. Steve

Runawaygirl,Hey I had already payed and everything a while ago. Does this mean that if I showed up on saturday I would have been stuck with an XXL? I am small!! That sucks that I can't get a shirt my size even though I pre-registered!!!! Can I not get a hook up? I mean I did tell you in advance that I would not be there and I did pre register too! Let me know. I can't fit in an XXL but if that is all you have I am sure I can give it to someone that will appreciate it and that way I get something for my 15 dollars. Man that makes me mad that I couldn't run and now I can't even get the shirt. Spencer
