I was able to make it through the 20 miler pretty good...the last 2 or 3 miles I started to feel it..but I ran 6:35 pace for the whole thing..so I think it was pretty successful...I'm planning on running the Jacksonville Half Marathon on Dec. 19 and then doing the Full in Warner Robins. I think sub 2:50 is a good goal. Scott, Keep at it, I know it's murder not being able to get out there..but sounds like things are coming around pretty good for you. As for thanksgiving day...there is a local thing in Cochran were we run a 4.8 mile course..and the neat thing about it is..they give $50 to the first person to finish, but they also give $50 to the person who can come closest to guessing their time before the race starts and your not allowed to wear a watch. There are only about 25 people in it..and it's always poeple from Cochran..it's more or less just a social thing...still pretty fun though. I'll do it..then do about 13 that night... Josh

We almost fell off the front page so I thought I'd post.I'm on track with 6 weeks to go for Warner Robins. Need to get in 2 more 20 milers which are dang boring. You know, the legs get real heavy after awhile and make you feel even slower. How are you guys doing?

Scott, Kimberly had suggested that we (you, her, me, Angela, and anyone else who is interested) meet at Perry's store this Saturday and caravan/carpool to the race in Madison. Angela was asking me about it, but I have no idea what time we are or should be meeting. Do you know? The Tucson half-marathon would have been a great run if I hadn't reinjured my hamstring right after the 2-mile mark. Some loose gravel on the road caused my leg to turn funny, and the pain returned. I ended up shuffling along the last 11 miles. I had high hopes for a PR but, instead, ended up with my worst time in a half--even worse than Omaha. On the bright side, Tucson was the most beautiful course I've run. Nice view of the Catalina mountains the whole way. One last thing: I heard an ad on the radio this morning for a 5K in Warner Robins on Dec. 18th, sponsored by the Red Cross (I think). Does anyone know anything about this? Edited to add: I found info about the Red Cross 5K on the Robins Pacers website. I hope everyone is doing well. The race in Madison is at 10:00am (5K at 9:30). I thought we could meet at Run Fit at 8:20, and that'll give us time to get bagels & coffee at Chesapeake. It's between 50 minutes to 1 hour to Madison, and there's usually plenty of parking, but it's not close by to the registration & start line. If you are wanting to run the 5K we can meet 30 minutes earlier. Sorry about the 1/2. Hope your hamstring is better now. Scott

I'll pass this info on to Angela, and we'll plan on meeting you at 8:20 on Saturday. See you then. Amber quote: Originally posted by MaconMoves: The race in Madison is at 10:00am (5K at 9:30). So how was Madison?I ran a long run this last Friday morning instead of Saturday. I parked at Central City and planned on doing about five miles around that soft surface before heading up into town. I'm not sure why my plan changed but I ended up circling the track 21 times. That will not happen again. Hope all's well with you guys and gals. Steve

Madison was a bit of a bust for me, but Kimberly got a PR. At mile 2 I had to stop and walk as I had my first encounter with shin splints. I walked until Kimberly caught up with me, then I ran with her. The pain went away at the 9:30-9:45 pace. I've got some exercises to do that should help, so maybe I'll be better by Museum of Aviation. Amber had a hard time of it too, with her hamstring playing up. Angela did well though too. Scott

It's been a while since I have posted. The store has really been keeping me busy. But, I am happy to see that the thread is still going.Steve, I still have 2 folding chairs (blue) at the store that I think belong to you. David & I brought them back from Ekiden. Josh started working full-time at the store yesterday. So, maybe that will allow me to get caught up on a few things. I've been upping my mileage in preparation for the Aviation Museum Marathon. I don't intend to run it all out, but I would like to do well. I'm training to be in 2:49 shape, and plan to run 2:59. I'm also toying with the idea of running the Silver Comet 50K in February as a long training run, then the Cherry Blossom Marathon in March. May not happen, but we'll see. Scott, Amber, Are the 2 of you meeting for the group run on Wednesday? Last week, Bill & Joe ran early and Craig & I ran at 6:05. Also, is the group meeting at the triangle on Christmas Eve morning? I wish everyone the best this holiday season! ------------------ Perry My User Profile

My family is getting into town Wednesday evening, so I won't be able to make the group run. Is there usually a group run on Christmas Eve from the triangle? I'm interested in this. Happy Holidays everyone, Amber

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas.Perry, Yea they are my chairs. I'll swing by and get them soon but haven't thought much about since the weathers cooled. Thanks for holding them. I think I'm about ready for The Museum Marathon...one more 20+ mile run. See everyone around. Steve

Amber,The group ran on Christmas Eve a few years back. I'm not sure if it's an every year thing. I didn't make it to the triangle on Sunday. So, I'm not sure what the plans are. I'll try to find out and post another message. ------------------ Perry My User Profile

Hey all. Time for the Museum of Aviation again. Weather channel foretold 27 degrees yesterday, then 37 today. Can't imagine it not being cold that day. Some of us are getting together for a pre-race carbo dinner. Kimberly was going to host, but now it looks like Trey may do it. If you're interested post or call/email Amber, Kimberly or me. I'll not be able to come to many of the Wednesday night runs for a while, as I'll be teaching a class at my church off and on through February. Anyone interested in learning how to cane email me or contact 1st Baptist Church (the one on High Place in the phone book). See you at Warner Robins. Scott------------------

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but Trae wants to limit the dinner to 8 people, and I think we've already reached that number. Good luck everyone; see you all Saturday. Amber

I'm doing the full marathon. Looks like the start might be a little chilly. Anyone thinking about running Al Toll the next weekend? I might just run the 15k easy. Good luck everyone. Steve [This message has been edited by truckin (edited Jan-12-2005).]

Anyone doing the "Dirty Runs the City?" Steve Corkery said only 4 people had signed up. Sounds like it would be more of a group run situation!

The "Dirty" race isn't listed on any of the calendars that I have checked, except Macon Tracks site and the newsletter. And with the Aviation races on Saturday, I wouldn't think that they could draw many people.

The "Dirty" run has been advertised on the 97.9 radio station, but I think they are hosting the race....and Dirty is a dj for the station, hence the name..Dirty runs the City... so the race might draw a group from people who listen to that station...but aside from that, I wouldn't expect a big turn out..Josh

I know it'll be just 2 days after the Half-Marathon, but as I'll be doing that real easy, I think I'll go see what the Hip-Hop race has to offer. It will definitely be a change of pace. Scott------------------

Congratulations Josh. That was a great time....how much of a pr?How did everyone else do? My run went exactly as planned until about 20 miles when the wheels started coming off. I started out at an 8:00 minute pace which was too fast but felt great. I chugged along through the first 20 at exactly the 8:02 pace and slowed quite a bit over the last 10k. My final time was 3h 38m 33s. It was a 10 1/2 pr but with better pacing I could have shaved another minute or so off. I am sorer after this race than any I've run before. Steve
