David said that he would be there. Kristy is also going to try to make it. So, it should be a good group. I posted it on both the www.macontracks.org and the www.runfitsports.com websites. I also placed a notice in the window of the store.Scott, since you seem to be the most familiar with the area, can you suggest the route? Josh and I ran 6 miles from the store a few weeks ago by running through Wesleyan and then through the 2 neighborhoods that are on the way to Zebulon. The Grand Opening for the store will be this Saturday, the 17th. So, it would be great if everyone could stop by. There will be samples of all the nutritional products that the store offers, plus you get to draw for giveaways or discounts off merchandise with every purchase. I did a 6 miler with my neighboor across the street last night. It was a great run. I hadn't run with him in years. It did make the run a lot more enjoyable to have company. I hope to see everyone on Wednesday, ------------------ Perry My User Profile

That pretty much covers the areas I know unless you want to cross Forsyth at rush hour! Looks like the inaugural run will be a doozie. The high for today is forecast to be 100 with a heat index of 115. I'll show up, but I may decide not to run. Scott

What will be the name of this running group? At 101 degrees maybe "Survivors" if there are any.I can't do runs in that kind of heat anymore but as the weather cools I would enjoy participating. See you guys on the 24th and be careful.

quote: Originally posted by JSM: Glad to hear you guys had a good weekend of running, or coaching...I went down to Waycross to run in the Swamp Fest 8k, and it wasn't a very fun experience. I've been sick for the past two weeks and one tons of drugs..but I've been running pretty good this week so I decided to go give the race a shot. When I got up saturday morning, I didn't feel like getting out of the bed. I was so tired, but I thought being a small race, I should be able to win...and 1st place won $100... Before I even parked the car, I knew I was in trouble. As I pulled into the parking lot, I saw a guy who I've raced a few times in the ATL area and he runs for the ATC competitive team, I think he finished 4th in the cherry blossom marathon ...Todd Liscomb...we usually go back and forth..so I knew It wouldn't be an easy win. Then minutes before the start I saw the cuban guy who finished 2nd in the Labor Day 5k...so I felt my chances at the money go out the door. As the race started..a quick pack of 4 formed..some guy from Jacksonville was there as well...and before we knew it we knew it, we hit 2 miles in 7:20...thats right 7:20!! At this point I knew I wasn't going to win..and I knew the course wasn't right...so as bad as I hate to admit it, I just gave up. I was no longer running for time or money...so I just ran to the finish line, turned in my card...cooled down and left. Talk about disapointing...my time was 24:10 and they said the course was about 1km short..so I would have been in the 27:30 range...not to bad I guess considering I didn't run as hard as I could the last few miles...I just hate when things go wrong at a race like this...now I wish I hadn't got out of the bed...but I'm going to race again this weekend and hope to make up for it.... Josh GO DAWGS!!!
Just checked this post you had written a while back and wanted to congratulate you on your world record 2 mile in 7:20 en route to your 8k in 24:10. Thats crazy. Shouldn't you be at the trials????

And the scary thing is...I finished 4th at that race! And I would be at the trials...but that whole Blaco thing has got me sidelined...maybe in 4 more years...

Sorry I didn't make the group run wednesday guys...(and girls) but I sick on wednesday and as the day went on, I felt worse and worse. There would have been no way I could have ran any distance. But I will see you guys this wednesday. BTW, I hope to see everyone at the store tomorrow for the grand opening. There will be a lot of samples and great deals on some of the things we carry at the store. And Mike will be there dressed as a Monkey...should be interesting. Hope to see you there. www.runfitsports.com

I hope the Grand Opening was a success. Mike in the monkey suit was a hoot, I hope he didn't keel over with heat stroke. Hope some more come out for the group run this Wednesday evening. Scott

The Grand Opening was very successful. Our best day yet. Mike attracted a lot of folks with the gorilla costume that probably would not have noticed the store. It was hilarious when Josh and the gorilla were wrestling on the sidewalk. The In-Training shirts should be ready on Wednesday, and I'm trying to get the Red Bull Mobile Energy Team back out this year. ------------------ Perry My User Profile

Are we still on for 6:15pm Wednesday group run at the store? Scott------------------

Boy it was a hot one! We'll have to start marking out some routes. I drove a 2 miler around the Idlewild area the other day, so I'll see if I can do that one on my next rest day. Kimberly drove the route she ran and said she clocked it at about 3.5 miles. Scott

The last 2 runs I've been in groups, and on Saturday I was asked how much longer I was going to be in the 45-49 age group, and when I told the guy 1 more year he said he couldn't wait! Then yesterday another guy asked me how long it was until I was coming up to the 50-54 age group, and his reply was "We better make the most of this year!" I'm taking that as the ultimate compliment! I think my reputation is better than my actual performance, though.

Perry, Sorry I wasn't at the In Training. I've hurt my right hip/femur joint, and after a Steady State Run yesterday evening, I was too stiff to run this morning. It's been bothering me since last Saturday, so I'm thinking I may need to take a week off to get healed up. See you all next Saturday. Scott

No since it aggravating the injury. I'll see you in a week. The group numbers were back up with a few new folks signing up. Red Bull should be out there this Saturday. I'm encouraging most folks to run the Jim Herrin race on the 21st. I may go and set up a tent, if we have someone to run the In-Training sessions that day. Otherwise, Josh will be there giving out water bottles and information about the store, and I'll be at In-Training. ------------------ Perry My User Profile

Scott, Have you increased miles lately? I starting having hip problems in December while ramping up my mileage for the Museum Marathon. I rested up some and did take some anti-inflams. but I really think lots of stretching did the trick. I'm not sure my problem was piriformis sydrome but that's the stretch that relieved me the most.Take it easy a few days and maybe it will get better. Good luck. Perry, Are you running in Warner Robins? Steve

I'm thinking it's bursitis of the hip joint. It's tender to the touch, but getting better every day I take off. Problem is I've put on 5 pounds since I stopped running, because my appetite is still up there at a 30 mpw appetite! Scott

I will probably not run in Warner Robins. I'm planning to have a tent set up to promote the store. So, I'll probably have to man that.Scott, Hip getting any better? Are you planning to be at the In-Training sessions on the 21st, or will you be in Warner Robins? If you're not doing Warner Robins, would you want to conduct a time trial for the In-Training group?

Guys, I might not make the "Training" Saturday. A fellow I work with has talked me into running the 5K course with him Saturday. He is new to running and a little nervous about the race.I might pop by anyway because I intend to run back to the 5k start when we finish. If I don't see anyone till Labor Day, good luck to all.

I won't be at CC Park Saturday either, as I'll be at the First Pres XC meet. Chad McD's offering an open race, so I'll help with the meet, then make a fool of myself in front of all the runners and their parents! See you at a group run, or at Labor Day. Scott

First Pres's Varsity boys found a new way to dominate. They split their team into 3 teams for their invitational and they came in 1st and 2nd, the first team with a score of 15 (again!). Scott Cope won 17:15, Chad Bacon was second, Kelly Sanders third, John Tankard 4th, and Joby Peake 5th, all 1st Pres studentsand all under 18 minutes. All their top 7 came in the top 10! The open race was well attended. I saw a couple of Sunday morning runners there. It was HOT and the course was hard, not like a road race with that good traction. My thighs are still sore! Scott

The youngsters always amaze me at how well they do on dirt and grass. My cross country times are nowhere near my road times, yet a lot of theirs are.I hope to be able to run in the 10K next Monday.
