Um, I don't think I'd want to see any of you running with a thong (and only a thong) ... well, except for Df and KJ I've invited two other runners with us for tomorrow's killer hill run, I didn't tell them what I call it though .. Chops, can we run the teardrop? I think we should do Clark ... we're all capable, though I may drag behind a bit ... argh ... Sally ------------------ "Follow your bliss"

I refuse to comment further on this topic discussion (not the hill run) for fear of going through another "cottager" ordeal. "Not that there's anything wrong with that." Egotism is the anesthetic that dulls the pain of stupidity. - Frank Leahy

My source of entertainment has been with my own blog and this running thread. Sad but true ... yet so exciting! You Mtl Coolrunners rock! Can't wait til the run tomorrow night ...

I hope to finish at the Y today to be able to join you hill runners. I still haven't met more than a handful of you. I want to be able to recognize those of you at Ile Bizard on Sunday. Went to my first physio rendez-vous at McGill to work on the hamstring. I was given three great exercises to do twice a day. Have to go back twice next week if I can afford it! Ran the TM at the Y on Tues. !0 min w/u @ 4-6mph, followed by a 20 min. tempo at 9.4 mph/ 6:15 / mile pace (HR @ 165-170, target reached) Finished with 10 min. cool down and lots of stretching. Duct tape kept the hamstring together. DUCT TAPE!! The answer to EVERYTHING! ____________________________________________________________ There is no reality; only perception. (Dr. Phil)

Roses are red, Violets are blue, I'm schizophrenic, And so am I.Wow, what an amazing hell-hills run all by MYSELF! One friend cancelled because of a knee injury and the other because he had to work late. Chops should have come and then run again with his lovely missus ... We know Roly is a wimp, and Mercury, well, he was probably so fast, I didn't even see him leave Villa Maria without me. Route (someone let me know how far this is ... 10, 11K?): - start at Cote-St-Luc, south on Decarie to Notre-Dame-de-Grace which becomes Westmount Ave. - one loop of Forden, the "teardrop" then back onto Westmount, The Boulevard until Cote-des-Neiges, almost to Atwater, but I doubled back onto Cedar to turn around - down Mountain to Sherbrooke (boy that's steep!) and then west a bit to Clarke - climbed Clarke + bonus to spite all of you abandoning me, but realised at the top, there's no exit (doh!) - ran back down Clarke bonus to The Boulevard and then onto Westmount - did a second loop of Forden cause I like it so much, then back along Westmount, NDG, and Northecliffe to Villa Maria metro - back on Decarie to my car on Cote-St-Luc Don't know my time 'cause I had no watch, don't know the distance 'cause I had no GPS doohickey. I'm used to relying on the other Coolrunners for both of those ... Great pacing today! Breathed like I was walking most of the time, fun relaxing run ... nice to not feel like I'm going to drown (too much swimming lately). Well, that's it, supper's ready and waiting ... missed you all ... sniff, sniff ... Have a good night, Schizo Sally ------------------ "Follow your bliss"

I can't believe they all wimped out on you, SS. You know the Shepherd would never have let that happen...Good luck to all runners of Ile-Bizzard this weekend, with some extra good vibes to Mrs. Chops for her first 5 K race. Bravo just for showing up to the starting line! What a sweet talker you are, Chops... Mars

Hello Everyone.. Happy New Year, and Happy Birthday (late probably to whoever I missed..) I have only checked the thread about 3 times since I left for S.F. way back last year before Christmas... But I did have a great holiday trip in California, and started running with my girlfriend!.. So we are she will be ready for a 5k this spring!! Well, I almost made plans to go for the hill run tonight, but I would have had a difficult time getting there at 6:00.. and so I just ran around the neighborhood and the regional park. It was my first experience of snow running, and it wasn't too bad. I don't think I would like miles and miles of snow trails.. especially when it doesn't give much, and it is like running on really bad pavement with tons of little potholes.. I mush prefer a dirt trail anyday! But as long as the weather holds up.. I might try and make it either to the race on Sunday, or to the Monument.. I will keep checking for further developments. I am glad that I was able to find the new thread and everyone is making the most of the season! Also I am glad that swimming is going well for those of us that training in the pool!!Truxx

Killer workouts and random acts of kindness:So there I was, barely past the halfway point of tonight's tempo run, when I come across this father and son team pushing their old pontiac 4-door something or other uphill. The family is Hispanic: Dad is about 45, son is about 20, daughter, steering, is about 25. They look desperate, son's about to puke, and they are both breathing like O2 concentration in the air is down to nothing. I ask if I can give them a hand. I thought the Dad was going to fall to his knees and cry. I take my place behind the car and start pushing uphill, along with the two of them, although for the most part, one of them is taking a break while the other pushes with me, and they switch off every 15-20 seconds. The son is a little stronger, but Dad's got staying power and pushes for longer. We do this for about 200 yards, up to a nearby gas station. Getting onto the gas station area, past the sidewalk, was especially steep, but we pushed the car all the way to the pump. Crap... I took it for granted they had a mechanical problem or something. Geez... they ran out of gas. Ah well... The look of gratitude of the father's face was unbelievable. The handshake I got made me feel like a million bucks. The son looked like he was going to pass out. I quickly got on my way, with my traps, triceps, lower back, and especially the quads all pretty pumped. Feeling the muscular fatigue and still breathing really hard, I just felt great from the opportunity to help. Within a few minutes, I got into a great groove, and I had wings and pretty much flew home. On this particular short training course, I had improved my time from 45 minutes to 41 minutes in about a month. Tonight's time, including the uphill car pushing event, was 45:05... Just wanted to share... Mars [This message has been edited by mountmars (edited Feb-03-2006).]

Hey, nice to hear from you Mars! Good story! But why did'nt they just walk to get the gas and bring it back to the car?! Truxx, Manu is running with you now? Cool, I always knew she wanted to run and I'm glad she finally started. Grommit! A missing toe nail? Ouchhh!! Brutal. A good FRIDAY to everyone! KJ

w. i. m. p. - no "h" there buddy, except as in Ha Ha Ha! quote: Not my fault that my female clients always leave later then they planned.
And the male runners don't even bother showing up ... Mercury: I feel for you and the exorbitant physio fees ... reason why I haven't gone again for such a long time, even though I need to badly. Hope your hamstring heals soon ...
DR: I've been a bad girl, not doing my exercises regularly enough. Come whip me with a wet noodle ... Truxx: Happy you had a good time in CA - good to hear from you ... Mrs. Truxx & Mrs. Chops: Good luck with your first race! TB: Did you sign up yet for Berlin? Yes, yes, I know I have to call you back ... Mars: I agree with KJ, why didn't they just go get gas and walk back? Your story reminds me of an opposite story that one of my ex-husband's friends recounted. Once in the winter when she was walking past a laneway where people were trying to free a car stuck in the snow, she actually walked by with a limp so that they wouldn't ask her for help! Alright, back to work ... I got 10 hours sleep last night! Yay! Finally! Sally ------------------ "Follow your bliss" [This message has been edited by Silly Sally (edited Feb-03-2006).]

It occured to me, as I replayed the events in my head, that they may not have been sure if it was a gas problem or something else. Also, they may not have had money for both gas and the container to bring the gas back to the car... Be that as it may, it made for a great whole-body workout. Mars

Who is running in Ile Bizard? Anyone doing the 10K? If you see a dorky looking , short, skinny guy wearing a non-Boreal - like yellow jacket with a black & gold headband.....it's Ian (Mercury). Please come and say hi. You can't miss the grey hair - unless it's snowing and I wear a white tuque. I really want to cheer for the cool runners but I need to know who you are........best of luck everyone. You might need snowshoes according to weather reports........
