Windy almost turned around, cranked up the tunes, and kept going. Wanted to run before the snow, who knows when we'll see the asphalt again. Snowing on my last k...g'night.

And ain't the snow great!! It's like a layer of soft cloud to absorb the hard asphalt to protect my ankles all winter. Hey Hugh! Nice to hear from ya. I went out tonight as the snow was falling and I made tracks in the middle of the road. On my way back up my street after my run, my tracks were still there as I ran on top of them. I thought that was cool. It was sort of my little moment. Ok, enough of that. Have fun running guys! And watch your footing...

Went to the McGill track yesterday. Still feeling it this morning in my left foot. It was tiring but fun to be able to run 400s again. Nice crowd and I enjoyed, "rigging" my 200m and 400m times by slowing down with about 10m to go such that when I crossed the line, I would call out the perfect split and finish time for that segment. My running mate was howling in laughter as we ran together in similar fashion. Hey, when you're this slow, you gotta compensate somehow. Have a great day. TB

Dont you just hate it when you feel ripped off?So I'm a twit for making assumptions, however..... I rented the snowshoes for the now famous Mt. Algonquin hike from YETI... nice bike/hiking store on St Laurent [worth mentioning I spent the best part of $1000 there last year on a new bike and accessories!] The rental price was $12 per day... no problem there. I was unable to get back to store on the Sunday to drop of the snowshoes as per the agreement, but I assumed that I would simply be charged at the same rate for the 2 days I was late.... not so!!! Read the small print [nobody explains at the time of rental what the penalties for late return]....... $25 late charge on top the late days being charged at double rate i.e. another $24 per day!!!!.......they dropped the double charge.... so my penalty came out to $49. This is added to the two full days charge... even though the snowshoes were picked up late on friday for use on Saturday I was charged for both full days. Total Cost For this Rental: $77.61 inc taxes Needless to say I complained to the two sales assistants, who shrugged thier shoulders and when back to their business.. Sadly, I must take my business elsewhere.... family of five who tend to spend a fair amount on this type of stuff in the course of a year... mountain bikes skis etc etc... I will copy this complaint to the store and gladly keep you all posted on any apology or reimbursement...... however I am not holding my breath. Make your own assumption and shop where you're most comfortable Thanks for your time Gary

Whoaa! This is called excessive late fees and penalty charges! You are right to complain. I will definitely keep this in mind when time will come to shop for outdoors equipment. Thanks for sharing this Grommit.KJ

Looks like I may be able to run the hypothermic race on Feb. 05. Today I found a big improvement on my shoulder, I noticed that a lot of tenderness, stiffness and swelling has gone down and given me a little bit more mobility if I don't move it to fast or try to extend the muscle reach to far then I'm OK I only feel the pain When I move to fast or extend to far. Monday and Tuesday I power walked at an incline of 15% for 2.5 miles Monday at 3.5 speed (40 minutes) and 1.5 miles Teusdayat at 15 % incline (25 minutes). I couldn't run because the pounding hurt. Today I was able to run for 3.1 miles at around a 7 speed for 27.24 minutes with only a minor throbbing.Roly

I was interested in finding out from TB what the deal is with the track at McGill. When, where etc. Is it with Dennis Barrett and the gang? Need to do a bit of speed work as a prep for the West Island Circuit 5 & 10K's.

Ian, if you need a doctor's note, apparently the Jean Coutu on St. Catherine and St. Mathieu is pretty good. My friend needed a note to deffer an exam, and all he had to do was say he had stomach cramps and pay 30$, I'm not into such dishonesty, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Ian, from what I've heard, the track at Mcgill is pretty expensive, while CCR is another 30$. Soon I'll be there on Monday evenings.

Mercury: I run Tuesday nights from 5:45-645pm with Dorys and other members of my gym. This workout is independent of what Dennis does and we follow his program for the day. Consideration in the amount of $100 is paid and this provides us access every Tuesday night until April.TB

Thanks TB. That sounds a wee bit pricey for this poor teacher. I know Dorys by reputation though, having run against him in the past (I ran a 1:20 -20K and he kicked my butt at Maski-Courons) but $100? Is it possible to pay by the session for two or three only? I want to do my own workouts, esp.6 x 800 in 2:20 or 5 x 1200 or 5 x 1 mile slightly slower. Maybe Robillard is also an option Thanx AC, a bit far but perhaps more easily accessable in terms of parking and cost.------------------

So we opted for the uber-dull hotel TM....... 5miles of hill program <10% followed by 7 miles aerobic pace..... 1:44:32..... thank god for the ipodgrommit the experiment ......can still feel Mt Algonquin in his gluts.....dull and achey

Went to spectate the McGIll Team Challenge where LG was running the 3000m (technically she didn't win since she was not part of a team). Wow lots of quick people there... It sure does take a lot of organisation to run a track meet with over 30 different events and even more heats!Just interesting to see the different running scenes in mtl. And nice to be indoors for a change. Anyone running Ile Bizard? It's the first race of the circuit...
