Am I the only one running outdoors this evening ??

Weather is great, some slick, slippery spots had me doing the shuffle...bit of a strange run...city crew repairing asphalt (yep, no comment)..couple of bikes zooming right at me on the sidewalks where I couldn't use the street , a couple of runners both dressed in all red (?) then a couple of parka clad women - one in red..then a gentleman walker coming towards me - in red...is the cosmos trying to tell me something tonight ?

Roly - u feeling better ?

Sally - did you mean Tuesday evening ?

Anyone running in Lasalle this month ?

Hello Everyone!
I finally got out for a run last night after I guess 3 weeks with none... It felt good to get out there, and my time was just about 5 seconds from the last time I ran the same loop! I am not sore today either.. Pretty good! The weather keeps getting better also!!

I will keep up better with the posts.. Thanks Grommit for asking about some of us quiet ones!

I hope all of you are doing well, and I look forward to running with some of you soon!

Was out on the mountain this afternoon. Gro, was that you I kept saying hi to as I did laps around the top? It looked a bit like you but he was wearing sunglasses and a dorky faux fur-type hat with hanging ear flaps. On the third time around I was going to introduce myself but he didn't reappear. Nice day to run if you could avoid the wind. It was freeezing on the hands. Ran 21/2 hours as a Boston prep but my hamstring is about to fall off. Get to see the infamous Dr. Fallenbaum tomorrow at McGill sports med where I will ask for a shot to get me from Framingham to the Common. One year in pain. Enough is enough.

Df, good thing you're swifter than I am ... DOH! I was reading last year's mini-calendar on my wall!

Alright folks, NEW POLL for next CR get-together at Hurley's, 7pm (cause no one will suggest another place) ...

Your choice:

1) Monday, March 13
2) Wednesday, March 15
3) Thursday, March 16

Let me know ASAP! Be there or be square. Don't be square KJ, you're a hand walker now ...

Don't want to meet on March 17, no no ... that would be insane!

Roly: overtraining? Hope the days off are good to you ...

Mercury: OUCH!!!!!

Truxx: Welcome back. Boy, I hope I can get back into the groove as easily as you ...

Sally

I have an airtight alibi melord..... I was/am in Ottawa and was nowhere near the scene of the crime..... so on the charge of wearing a faux-fur hat with flaps...... I plead NOT GUILTY!

Monday = zero
tonight = I'm going to scope out a local gym to do some intervals.... The weather here is perfect for a jog along the canal, but I didn't bring any outdoor gear and anyway I'm going to stick to the tm.... well until the weekend at least

later

Df, SS, I'm doing fine, Just a little tired over the week-end. I havn't been eating properly lately to much junk.

So the range of motion in the shoulder is about 98% back to normal. Still painfull at times when I move the wrong way or try to over stretch it. Apparently this is normal and could last between 3-6 months. So I'll continue with the icing and exercises and hope it will get back 100% soon.

Monday rest
Today rest - tossed and turned all night last night and got maybe 2 hours of sleep max.

Just bought latest Running Times for bedtime reading... This greco-australian guy (you know.. the Ultra Meister Super Dooper) broke the 24H run WR (=303k). It means over 7 marathons on top of one another, each done under 3:30. Hopelessly insane.

MLC: I had a thought for you today during my first training with the babyjogger ! I did 2 loops on the circuit GIlles-Villeneuve, for a total of 8.2km. Funny thing happen with my times on each loop, 1st 19m10.4, 2nd 19m10.5. I guess I was on a steady pace!

Tuesday or Thursdays are never great for me Sally. Not impossible but not great as I work from 4-5:30 at the Y. I guess Wednesday, but will leave Thursday open as well for any Hurleys get-together.

Got a booking for an MRI today, ordered by the McGill sports med group. Appears I have a partial tear of the hamstring (at the Ishiial Tuberosity) under the butt. Apparently injections are out-of-the-question as it can cause a total rupture. (Doh)

Only an osteopath can help and I just have to learn to tolerate the pain in the meantime. In spite of everything I have read, it was recommended I take Advil prior too and during Boston. I was floored! At a huge seminar in Boston last year and in numerous articles in RW etc., they continuely warn against this because of sudden death etc. Any feedback anyone? I don't Know what to think at this poine.

Sally follows her bliss... Ralf follows his nose... Omni follows his babyjogger... This world becomes unsecure.

Just to keep you posted. My orthopedist thinks that it is necessary to look again at the possibility of a stress fracture. Since these are not always visible in x-ray images I am going to get a scintigramm of my shin bone. The appointment at the specialist for this is on Monday. Take care

hey ralf.... stress fractures, now there's a truely wonderful sensation... let's hope you got there before it got too bad... if that is in fact what you're looking at. SF took me out of the game for most [on & off] of 2004 ........

... if you're not sure if your shins are fit to run [at any particular moment], hop on the leg that's giving you problems for 30 seconds... if it hurts at all ....don't run that day..... this can take months, well in my case anyway

6.35 miles of recovery run around the block for me this afternoon. Much attention paid to the deck.... no problems to report (53:10)

and now food....

SS: I'll be there

I'm planning on running the Boreal 1/2. Anyone else planning on that one?

I'm planning on stepping outside for the first time this weekend. Hopefully the transition won't be so rough.

Ralf: My thoughts are with you. All the best.

...... didn't get to ski much this year, but I reckon we're going to have the best conditions ever for the next couple of days down at Sugarbush [way cheaper than up north, better snow & no quebec spring break crowds ]

take care
