yeah managed about a 14k run on the sidewalks around home. Not a long run indigestion stopped me going any further. Sidewalks were starting to ice up so it was a little tricky. Roly [This message has been edited by rolyone (edited Mar-03-2006).]

Hej everybody, this week I realized that I start to get completely out of shape. It looks like the two month of missed training are starting to affect my VO2. Went out on my bike once more. I followed a course I used to run when I was still running. The weather was good, temperature around zero and only in a few places I saw some traces of snow. However, some of the hills became a real challenge on the bike. Got my heart rate up to 95% of max. Four days to go before my appointment with the orthopedist. Will anybody run a couple of km for me, please. (No miles please, can't use them over here). Thanks, take care Ralf ------------------ Follow your nose [This message has been edited by RalfM (edited Mar-04-2006).]

Chops I'll be at the monument for 9:00 am. Anyone else. Haliburton 100 mile you know I would help, But it's on my wedding aniversary week-end (Sep.9) damn. Df I just read a nice article on Pikes Peak in the latest trail runners magazine. They mentioned the Jay challenge and leadville marathon as not being as hard as this one. Dah 13 miles straight up at an average of 11% grade nearly 8000 ft climb to the summit at 14,050 ft. OUCH! I am signed up for this 3 weeks after Ottawa. I only managed 1 loop and a bit in the woods planned for today (8k). One 3.5 k section felt like running thru sand not to many adventurers packing down the trail at the farther end of the woods. Blazing trails thru fresh snow is fun but tiring. Maybe sneek a little dip on the packed trails on Mount Royal tomorrow.anyone ever experience a burning esophagus when running. had it happen twice this week. Df Hope to see you tomorrow at the monument. enjoy the week-end Roly

Ralf: I know how you feel ... :-( and I'm still not able to train yet... Roly: I have to be honest here. When is your 50k? Only 3 weeks before Jay? Which one is more important to you to do? If you are meant to have any injuries, they will come out and stay out during the 50k and they will be there with you during Jay. 3 weeks is not long enough to recover. I have done 3 marathons in two months before, with the last two only 2 weeks apart. And this feat is nothing compared to what you will be attempting. Proceed with caution. You know either way, I'll support you. I worry cuz I luv ya! Df, Chops, Grommit: Have fun on the mountain! I will think of you later on when I will be munching on dim sum and going for a walk. Hi all, This be my hankie a-wavin in the breeze. I have been up to my earlobs in work these days - no end in sight. Running moderatly, certainly not with any regularity. I will try to make the mountain tomorrow morning, but no guarantees. If I am not there by 9:02, I probably ain't gonna make it."Bureaucrats write memoranda both because they appear to be busy when they are writing and because the memos, once written, immediately become proof that they were busy." - Charles Peters

Thanks SS, I luv you too. besides it's 40 days before Jay and it's a fat ass style nice and relaxed and only one little hill at the end. The RD of this race told me to run Ottawa not race it for my first marathon (thats my style) and use that one as a slow LSD for the 50K which I'll use as a slow LSD for Jay which I'll use as a slow LSD for the Vermont 50. Then I'll rest a few weeks OK!. Wait there's the Fall colors marathon (nice hills) in October Humm!!! with a nice square medal. Oh yeah the goofy challenge in January. DF what date is Pikes Peak marathon? What about.......Grommit I would like the company. When you e-mail the RD Peter to add your name to the list ask him about Haliburton he has run the 50 miler. JB Hope you can make it tomorrow. Roly

Not going to happen - my hip/leg is too sore, I'll stick to short and flat around here. Have an excellent run - Df Part II : Did my 5 and change loop, boy was I slow. Weather was great and traffic light. Managed a skate this aft with munchkin - an outdoor rink set up by the city next to the J C Bridge - it was lovely, people flying kites next to the rink. We saw an enormous (sp.) kite, very pretty. Ralf : hope all goes well with your appt this week, take care. Mars: haven't heard from you in a while, hope you and the missus are well. Have a good week everyone.

So, I decided to check out what's happening on coolrunners after preparing some home made pizza dough and waiting for it to rise. Seems that it's been a very quiet day on all the forums today. I guess everyone has been enjoying the nice sunny weather today. Well at least in Montreal anyway. good to see DF got out and ran and a did little ice skating today way to go df.I waited at the Monument today unilt 9:02:57, then headed up on my own, solo. First thing going up I noticed the legs felt very heavy and sore guess the run in the snow yesterday worked more muscles then I thought. But there is no way I'm going to stop running today. No double run up and down today but at least I completed my run up 1 loop then down again. Still a bit sore and tired I decided to continue down Deluth to St Laurent for a few kilometers the turn back and head to my car on Deluth. Later in the day I felt extreamly tired and checked my Internal gauges and realized my system was down a pint. I quickley rushed to the local depaneur and picked myself up a beer and am now feeling much better. Have a good day all. Roly

Sorry to hear that everyone bailed on you ... I know that feeling! You were smart to check your fluid levels though and fill up. Next time, you should make sure you always have some in stock ... you might not be able to make it to the dep! You all know I can't run, so Greta, my new little car, and I did the next best thing ... drove over Da Hood and into the Westmount Hills, a return trip. We enjoyed the sun. It was a little hard though, and almost heart-breaking, watching all the runners ... sniff, sniff ... That dim sum sure was good though! Next CR Montreal get-together will be Monday, March 14, 7pm. Place? I haven't a clue and if someone doesn't come up with a cool non-smoking drinking place by this Wed. at 8pm, then Hurley's it'll be ... and it has to be decently close to a metro for those without wheels. Roly: Saw you this morning as I was looking for parking. Had to park quite far, ran to the monument, arrived around 9:10 maybe. Went up, 2 loops. Beautiful weather, bad footing. Had a fun ending: did the last k side-by-side with a guy. It ended up in a sprint and a high-five. Lots of flashy Borealers around !------------------ Don't bust my chops, baby, don't bust my chops

Chops, you should have honked I would have stuck around. I left because I was getting cold standing around. BTW I had the yellow strap you lent me. SS, I think my run today was better off solo. I felt crappy, oh well it's like that some times. Can't wait for march 14. Grommit. I might just rest a few days myself the last couple of runs was more a mental exercise then my usual enjoyment of running. I pushed my self to complete what I planned today but It felt sluggish and labored, I don't like that. I hope to be fully charged for a nice long run next week-end, Hope you can make it. Back to work tomorrow Wish I had another week off. Roly

Hi everyone. I was planning on getting out with you all but plans were dashed by a necessary trip to the cottage in St. Lin to deal with a plumbing problem. If the conditions today were the same as yesterday - and it seems they were - it was murder getting footing on the way up to the top. Kind of like running with your feet in bags of flour-clumpy & sticking.Got back mid afternoon and did a 25 min. tempo on the TM at the NDGY. Ran 85% of MHR (185) or 165bpm @ 6:18/mile pace. Realatively easy but boy, did I ever have to go for a pee. Talk about pain, but I digress. Glad I didn't run the mountain actually or my Boreal crowd would have had a few things to say to me. Besides, I hate their new outfits. Too gaudy, but I have one on order nonetheless. I prefer to dress down..... ------------------

In those conditions, I have ALWAYS the same thing happening: swirling motion with the push-off foot + old winter socks = large blister on each arch. Roly: Sorry for Sunday. I didn't oink cause' I was on Park going North + on the east lane. Didn't expect so much time to find parking. Ggrrrrrrr.... ------------------ Don't bust my chops, baby, don't bust my chops
