Hello all, thanks for the encouragement, all we are waiting for now is the date. I was telling TB last night that when we went back on Thursday to finish off, the last thing being more x rays, I was on “overload” from what was around us. Tip of the hat to people who work in these places, I know I couldn’t do it.

Ralf, sorry to hear that your situation isn’t better – will you be seeing your doc when you get home ? Yes, check out Whistler, I’ve been on the west coast at least 3 times and never got around to it – send me a couple of pics.

Knee, wow, great stuff ! So, humm, what else have you been up to besides running, walking on your hands, painting, working… bravo chérie.

So, Gro, first it was the eggs, now its mac & cheese ?? Where do you find these things ? See the ankle is better, good stuff.

Sally - how you doin' today ?

As for the ole gal, run with the MAA last night on the mountain, tough go for me, not much hill running lately. When we heard church bells echoing around us I looked at my watch, it was 6, nice to see the daylight is lasting that much longer. Olmsted was in good condition, plenty of people running. Today, went to the pool for 45 minutes..like to think I`m getting better.

Have a nice weekend all, enjoy the snow tomorrow…Df

I will get an appointment at my orthopedist as soon as I will be back to DUS - i.e. Monday afternoon. However, I don't expect much from the doctors visit. Probably the only thing that will help is patience. I won't get to Whistler this time. I am leaving tomorrow and we have an invitation for dinner tonight. However, since it doesn't look to be my last visit of the west coast, I will try to get there next time. For the pix I have to wait until I am home. I forgot to take the cable with me that I need to connect the camera to a computer.

Enjoy your weekend

Ralf

Grommit, Chops, I won't be at the monument tomorrow.

Chops I want to try that project run slow and solo first before running it with the group.

I did not run on Thursday or Friday. I feel like I have a low level cold that just won't come out full blown. It sucking the energy out of me. I wish it would just come out and get it over with.

Managed a slow 16 k run late this afternoon and feel really tired again. I'm gonna try to sleep in tomorrow until 8:00 am.

Hopefully tomorrow afternoon I'l be able to get out and run a double loop up the mountain.

SS glad to hear your gettin better.

Take care.

Roly

Word of wisdom to everyone ... don't exercise at the start of a cold, I have been warned many times by my Ironman trainer, Dirk. He's known two people who have had the virus travel to their heart, and it wasn't pretty - they were lucky to survive and were out for a realllly long time ... And then someone else just told me that happened to his friend too ... within a matter of hours ... scary. Don't chance it folks, rest up if you're feeling lousy ...

Roly: Yes, feeling better ... the shakes are starting to subside ... and so is the pain.

Ralf: Oh! That's horrible!! I talked about you to Dirk and he and I feel for you ... you have to take care of that ... Rest up ...

Sally

Was on the mountain this morning at... 07:45. Had a pee before starting to freeze. Wrote GROMMIT on the snow. Very artsy. It was cold. Brrrrrrrrr....

Fly: Thursday hill run is still around but lack of participants because of the cold. Spring should bring back the tradition.

I have a confession to make. Ever since the injury to my foot, I have been a slave to my TM mistress. She's so understanding and I get to press her buttons to my hearts content. She obeys unquestionningly and I enjoy staring at her view (the dvd-tv combo mounted on top of her).

I am beginning to forget what is like to run outside. Truth be told, at this point, did I ever run out there? With today's cold weather, along with the ice and snow, I ran toward my mistress and begged for her forgiveness for having entertained the thought anything else but her.

It raised a smile to see so many runners this am having converted to my mistress. They are begining to see the light.

Hope everyone is doing well.

TB

TB I must confess my sins I too ran today on the TM.

Took me 90 minutes to run 7 miles.

5 min at 4% incline
15 min at 5%
10 min at 8%
10 min at 10%
10 min at 15%
10 min at 12 %
10 min at 10 %
10 min at 8%
10 min at 5%

According to incline calculator converting the distance covered at the % incline I climbed approx. 3056 feet.
Mount Royal is about a 750 foot climb.

Sshh Don't tell Sally. I'll rest my cold tomorrow. I'm off on spring break next week.

I got to get in shape enough to at least get to the top first. Then I'll learn myself to get down

But there is always these for the trip down:

Congrats to everyone who braved the cold outside today. Ran the mountain from the NDGY via the Blvd, Pine east, McConnell ice rink & Olmstead to the top and the reverse. It was FRIGID on the way back. My fingers were frozen. Needed the warm water treatment. Very painful. So much for my hotpaw mitts. 1hr. 45 minutes but brrrrrr. Gro, I'll call this week sometime when I find out my schedule. My son awaits surgery on his ankle this week so my after hours have been filled,

Let me know if anyone wants to run Tues. or Thursday. Cover up everyone.

Congrats on the good albeit FREEZING run!

Oh my gosh, I'm sorry to hear that Colin needs surgery! Please let us know how it goes ...

Roly:

TB: Um, it's Mr. TM, not Ms. TM ... and there's still no way of converting me ... anyway, I've got a new sport now - channel surfing

Chops and Flyisa: I'll be back hopefully sooner than later, a little less fit, but those hills are a-calling!

Ralf: Any better today?

Sound like me running the trails near home after eating a bowl of my homemade chili.

Ok I have several questions for all of the Montreal coolrunnners!! I have watched "Running on the Sun about Badwater" 4 times in the last 2 weeks and I am reading "running Thought the Wall" short stories about various ultrarunners. I am curious how far are you "willing" to test your abilities?
Myself I am not naturally designed for runnng but running is one of my biggest challenges and one of my greatest joys (besides the wife and kids naturally). For me the question is not how fast I can go but how far am I willing to go to complete a challenge like Badwater. Would I be able to do it? If I dedicated my time to do it? What would be your ultimate challenge mentally or physicallly? If you had no restrictions holding you back. What woud you go for? Curious!!

MY wife told me that she would support me in whatever I decided and whould be there to crew me with the kids in any race I choice. Not pace me but crew?

Grommit If you had a team to support you would you do a race like Badwater?

You know how far, baby! Just hope this stupid car accident doesn't impede my training too much - minimum set-back is about 3 1/2 weeks but I am back to swimming more at least ... cycling will come next. Running not until after March Break (cause I have the kiddies). Have to ease back into it, ya know!

Just have to get rid of this head and back and neckache ...

Have a good night folks, and bravo to anyone who braved the cold ... brrrrrr ....

Swimmin' Sally

p.s. Grommit gave me a helping hand today to look at cars ... Who wants a lift in my new Chevrolet Aveo? Small car but packs a punch for the $$$, and I can fit the snowboards on the special roof rack!
