Sally: Is it possible that your car picture has widened the current page ? Ralph: If you're still in Vancouver, have a go at Grouse Mountain.

Yes, it did, sorry. But now we're on a new page Grommit: I hope you read Omni's post with careful attention about where you step. Really, you should be training with some sort of support for the next while ... and I'm not talking knut sack, I'm talking ankle support ... I have a headache that won't go away and it is killing me ... Someone please come take it away, and the neck and back pain too ... I want your gut-feeling answer: let say you are running a 180 strides per minute which is 3 strides per second. During one (1) second (or three (3) strides), for how long would you touch the ground ? Half of the time ? 1/3 ? 2/3 ?

I don't remember well, however I have a vague memory about contact time which would suggest that it will be slightly below 2/3 s. This sounds a lot, however at 180 strides per minute you make short steps. Thanks for the hint to Grouse mountain. I am still at Vancouver, but I am not sure wheter I will make it to Grouse mountain before I leave. Anyway, I am still careful with my leg and have not moved that much. On the weekend we went to Cypress Mountain which was not bad. Tomorrrow I will give running another try. Wish me luck, please. Ralf

MLC: I couldn't tell you the exact numbers, but they say the less you touch the ground the faster you'll be able to go. So the less you are a heel striker the less you touch the ground. Sounds familiar TB!

Hi Roly, gang. Just got in from my hood loop, lovely this evening, no need for anything fur lined. Still some ice and what melted today is now slick, be careful if you are heading out the door. Spent the better part of the day at a local hospital with my mom. Hopefully, they will be able to schedule her for a hip replacement within the month if funding holds – lets not go there. Sharing meals, schlepping from floor to floor with what by the end of our visit there I called `The Hip Group` -- made me realize how fortunate I am to be doing what I am able to do. BTW, hip surgery isn`t only for the elderly. Made myself a new friend, Mark, an avid cyclist, winter sports enthusiast, a few years older than this chick. He fell while working at home, fracture, plate and now a replacement. He`s in surgery next week, I`ll be giving him a call. Who knows, if we both get over our aches and pain, we may manage a cycle together, would be cool. Fly – welcome back ?, we haunt the same hood, my mail is here somewhere. You`re forewarned, I`m not fast and because I`m hurt, don`t run long right now. Despite this, if you would like some company on occasion, let me know. I`m on Victoria near Miss Italia. Now didn`t I read somewhere here something about Mr Lambchops turning into Mr Porkchops…get that tall bod of yours out the door, never mind the numbers. Sally – take care - I echo Roly. G'night -df

{{{Df}}} I hope your mom is scheduled quick for that hip replacement. I've seen that operation on the discovery chanel it's quite amazing. The individual they highlighted had a remarkable recovery and went from being unable to walk to being very mobile.Don't recall how long it took but it took only 10 minutes on TV. Grommit Who's Dawn?? No really what time and Sunday would be best for me. Saturday is reserved for my run in the woods no Garmin, no time, just enjoy a nice long scenic run in the woods (my therapy day). I have a run in mind that I would like to try. Start at Villa Maria metro run down Decarie to Queen Mary, right on QM to Cote de Niege, right on CdN run down CdN and up the Mountain to the parking area near Beaver lake continue down C. Houde to Park, Turn around and run back to Cote de Neige cross the street and run up to Summit circle 1 loop then back to Villa Maria. Anone want to geuss what the milege might be. Good night Roly

Be careful going down the steep part of Da Houde ... you can do some knee damage ... and your quads will pay for it ... Df: I'm with you ... Good luck with your mom. Sally

Hi guys! Df, good luck with your mom. I had stopped running for 2 weeks but I started again this week. I think I burned out -again! I was trying to do a little bit too much The 2 weeks break with no physical activity at all was great. I feel rested. I have been running for 45 minutes monday-tuesday-wednesday -with a break this morning. Also, during my 2 weeks break, I've started to do acrylic paintings and that is what is taking a lot of my free time, these days. http://kneejerk2.blogspot.com/ I'm cant walk on my hands yet Cant wait for a group run.

BTW, We, the people, want to know more about Mark. Knee: Very graphic. What are the size ? I want one. Serious. Sally: A mild cerebral commotion could have been the cause of your disconfort.

Went running last night. I had fun: charged the hills and went real slow on flats. Lack of practice produced bad appreciation of distance vs pace. Often, went too fast on hills and had to down gear to reach the top. Who's running on Sunday ? At what time ?
