sorry chops..... spelling & computers was never my forté..... neither is swimming!

Hey Roly..... don't stress yourself about Ottawa/driving/etc..... we'll find loads of long ugly runs that'll get you to the finish line at Jay when the snow melts in the meantime just keep on doing what you're doing..... how's the shoulder?

Anybody care for a limp up the mountain on Sunday AM ? the weather might be nice....

Grommit,

I would still like to run in Ottawa. I'll still work on my marathon plans with the week-ends tailored for Jay. Found out that my girls have a second show in the evening so I can sleep in the car after the race then drive back in time for show. There should be about 150 Tim Hortons between Ottawa and Montreal to help keep me well coffeed out.

The range of motion in the shoulder is getteing better slowly. Still a bit painfull but I was told it could take up to 8 weeks to heal fully! Thanks for asking.

Sunday, not sure what time I can run, I'm having a bithday dinner for my Mom Saturday night. So it depends on when I can kick everyone out.

Hey Roli. If you go to Ottawa, maybe I can hitch a ride? Just a thought. Don't know if I want to spend a nite or two there or not. I could share the driving with you. Just a thought.

Your more then welcome to drive down with me. Do you drive standard.

Hi there, I've been a lurker for a while and really admire the great support you provide for each other here (with the exception of the occasional taunt (sp?)). Love Grommits musical suggestions!
Anyway, I've just started hitting the pavement again (man it was windy today!) and hope that I may join in on the fun, the runs, and even the occasional taunt.

Welcome Fly.....What part of town are you in. We have to link up. 10-4 on the weather. Went out the door to run and almost blew away. Ran to the Y instead and did the TM. 5 times 5:00 minutes at 5 degrees incline and 8.1 mph. What a killer. Heart came out of my chest.

Thanks for the invite Roly. That would be great! I just entered the Half a few minutes ago, because I run Boston in April. I do drive standard. My rustbucket is standard. I just need to negotiate with the missus to confirm everything. There is a possibility she wants to come along to see the tulips. She has never been to Ottawa. Send me an Email to:
<icordner@yahoo.ca> where I can give you my cell #.

Be careful out there everyone. My son slipped in the lane behind the house yesterday and broke his ankle. Ice is everywhere, especially where you don't expect it to be...........

Thanks for the welcomes.

Here's a quick summary of my situation as requested. I live in St-Lambert so I occasionally run along the river here but for the most part I head up the mountain. It's a little embarrassing to give my running history, some of you just blow my mind, but we all start somewhere right? I've been running for about a year now but have been slackin' because of the cold.
This year I'd like to run a half but for the most part a few 10s. (Weak knees!) I'm always hesitant to participate in races...I always feel I haven't prepared enough. I ran in Bruno last year...really beautiful area, nice hilly course. My daughter also ran the 1k so hopefully we'll repeat this year with the whole clan (I have 3 daughters).
I don't know if anyone would remember but I wrote a few times last year when I was living in Brazil.

Actually Fly, I know Seaway park in St. Lambert very well. I used to run on the then revolutionary track (Grasstex) in the 60's & 70's. In fact, won the Provincial Championships there in the 3000 Steeplechase in 1969 and qualified for the Quebec team that travelled to Europe. Those were the days!! Used to take the Metro to Longueil and jog over to the track along Riverside Drive.

Actually, my high school track coach ( Ken McGowan- Verdun High) is retired there, I believe. Mr. Ian Hume, used to coach the St Lambert CSA club. Thanks for the memories.

Fly, It doesn't matter how fast or far you run if you enjoy running, talking and joking around. This a great group to run with. For local 5 and 10 k races check the link below. A few of the coolrunner will be at these events. I know I will be running with my 6 year old daughter at a 1 k run this summer

Change of plans cousins (Italian side) are in from Long Island so I won't be running in the AM just lots of carbo loading and vino.

Merc. Problems with my e-mail I'll send you a e-mail from work on Monday.

SS Nice car but really you should take better care of it.

Good night all.

Roly

The thing about running in conditions like today is that you never really relax and get into a groove.... So with full body armour I got to the monument about 15 minutes early and did a circuit of the park to keep warm... was back at the monument bang on time, jumped up and down for 5 minutes and decided to give up waiting.... up to the top, twice around and home via Cote des Nieges (absolutely the worst running surface ever, no salt, no grit... just ice) Total time about 2:20 no idea of the distance... more of a survival run today than anything else... the ankle
didn't complain too much and is getting iced as we speak.... Hot tea is heaven sent.

A first.... I got bitten by some mangey mut on the way round the top, it was very lucky I didn't break it's scrawny neck!! It's equally scrawny owner didn't even apologise..... I hope it wasn't rabid

Oh and I forgive alll the no shows.... whatever the wimpey excuse is

SS huge/beautiful photos bugger-up my screen....

Gee SS. It's a miracle you are alive to tell us your story. The news yesterday was full of gloom concerning acidents & road conditions. On the bright side, your car looks like mine now. Works great, just doesn't look the greatest! Nurse yourself back carefully and realize, as you crank it up a hill, that you are happy just to be able to breath hard.

Grommit: Sorry. I blew a tire on Saturday. Car is at the garage. Had to settle for my Westmount standard (teardrop etc..). Cold.

Fly: Remember your intervention from Brasil. Should I say: welcome back ?

Oh Sally,

such a bad luck. I am very happy that you got only minor injuries. Hope that you will be completely restored soon. Your accident and the pictures of your car made me recall some unhappy memories of an accident we had five years ago in the Laurentides. We didn't hit a truck, but due to an unexpected ice layer we left the 15 sideways at 100 km/h. Best wishes

Ralf

Thanks to all my CoolRunning friends for your support and concern ... I'm still a little in shock, but taking each day the only way I can for now ... day-by-day and carefully. Only light swimming planned for this week ...I am lucky to even be able to do that! It's a nice feeling though when I don't have to prop up my head cause it's floating ... can't wait 'til I'm recovered!

DR: you up yet?
