Pretty expensive half-marathon for two beers and some spaghetti. (1/2 mary $50 bucks early, $60 late and $25/35 for the 4.5 miler)Is it a certified course?

Looks like a fun time!! Would have to think about it but with the travel time it's probably out of the question.

Anyone doing the Badgerland Striders 20k Sept 3 - If you are anti - high race fees - here you go $6 in advance and $7 the day of the race. Beer - Rootbeer and snacks (Usually not a lot - but at least a fruit and pretzels(beer) )I will be in Milwaukee already that weekend, so its not like I'm burning gas to get there.

good question.....3 water stops for a half...would have be question a few things. I wouldn't pay more than $20 for 4.5 miles that doesn't list a "cause". It alludes to a pantry...but doesn't really say that it benefits it.

HI there - new to this site and forum. New runner here. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of where to go to get fitted for running shoes. I live 30 miles north of Milwaukee, but work downtown, so anything in between there would be great. Thank you Lori

daniel6mileman - I assume you are in Cross Country season right now?The Point running program has generated some top athletes - Just out of curiosity - What is you age and 5k time? Hows the team this year? It used to be your runners cranked out some big mileage in the summer - Is it still that way?

Yes I'm in XC season. First meet was today, I ran a 19:06 on a very hilly course. I'm 16 right now and a Junior. I don't go to SPASH, I go to Tri-County, a small school. Our team is good for a D2 school with only 7 guys and 4 girls. Our guys are actually good, maybe state qualifying good. I'm the only one on my team that did high mileage. No one else ever did more than 30 miles a week.

Good running this year - As the season progresses the high mileage will be a great base for the you and your coach to use to build on during the season and peak at the right time to something special for you.

Here is my race schedule for 2006 it looks like it is going to be a slow race time this fall.Whistle stop HM-10/14 Carson 10miler10/28 Frigid 8-12/3 The cooler weather has really been great for my running!! I have felt awesome out there!! Of course I am predicting upper 80's for 10/14 just because that is how my history of running goes. But maybe I can break the streak of running Halves and Fulls and warmer than seasonal temps. Hoping for cool weather on the 14th

How did that 10K go? I am doing Whistlestop. I am also thinking about doing Wha-Za-Wo half marathon this Saturday. Did anyone watch Iron Man yesterday? It was incredible. What nasty weather. Those guys (and gals) were really awesome.

10K was OK - I have been fighting a cold, so I was happy to feel strong. 2 of the 1st 3 miles were into the wind, so I just hung out in 17:55, then I tried to work harder, but just a hair under full out. I am not sure of the exact results - I think somewhere between 36:16 - 36:19 - I did not stop my watch very quickly. So that would be @ 5:42-5:43 pace for the last 3.21 miles. Now it is time to start the taper.

daniel6mileman - Some solid CC races. Fairly early in the season - I would guess you will be under 6:00 pace very soon.

I'm in the fox cities half on 9/24 and keeping fingers crossed for cool temps. Going to Mason City IA (yes, I know, not WI) for the HM on 10/22, doing the race in Stevens Point on 12/2. Loving the cooler mornings- after this summer it is a wonderful treat!

Hi all...haven't checked in here since Grandma's (the half for me). After that race, I did a half in San Diego in August, then a couple of triathlons with my husband. All in all, a good summer.Next up is the Whistlestop HM, my favorite race of all! I've almost talked myself into the full Journeys marathon in May 2007. It'll be my 2nd full (would like to beat my weather-induced 4:52:51 at Disney in 2005.) I figure Eagle River in May might be better - plus I've done the half there twice, so I'm familiar with the second half of the course. Anyway, good runs to all! Lori
