As mentioned earlier I have recently relocated from Central Maine to Dodgeville WI. last fall.

I am trying to find the best site for a complete Wisconsin race calendar. Seems like there are a lot of claendars online but none are very complete and seem to miss a lot of the smaller local races.

Any suggestions?

Go to http://www.badgerlandstriders.org, click on "Race Info" and then "Race Calendar."

Welcome to Wisconsin!

Thanks, everyone, for the info and warm welcome to WI! We are planning the big move on July 1st, so we're counting down the days!

I think I will try the Lakefront Marathon in October. It looks like a good one.

WI MTP- I am glad that you liked the Houston Marathon. I have run it a couple of times and really enjoy it. I feel like it is very well organized and well supported by the community. I plan to travel back to Houston to run it next year.

you're moving at a good time. The humidity factor in late July/ August can sometimes be a good match to Houston. I made the move from San Antonio to WI in July and although it was 20 degrees hotter when I left TX that day...I could barely breathe when I got off the plane in Green Bay.

Woohooo!

Ran 5.1 miles yesterday! Haven't run that long in several years! It took me 50 min., so I'm far from greased lightnin' but glad that I'm able to go so far. I felt like I even still had some energy in me at the end, but am trying not to push too hard, too fast due to previous knee injuries. Looks like I'm a go for the Run for the Butter 10K!

Any suggestions for a good race that I can keep training for, after I knock out this 10K in mid-June?

Hello all Wisconsinites!

I have lived here all my life and truly believe that WI is a great state for running!

I actually JUST moved from Milwaukee to Appleton because i found a job here after graduating from UWM with a Bachelor's degree.

I ran the South Shore Half at 2:12:06!!! My first half mary ever...it was awesome!

Is there anyone located Appleton or thereabouts?

Hey Everyone!!

Well training for Grandmas reaches it highest point this weekend. I will be out for 20 Sat. Should be interesting since the temps are supposed to be in the 80's but since I am starting so early I would think that I should be done before it gets to warm.

Has anyone here done the Wistle Stop Marathon/Half in Ashland? Just wondering since I am trying to set a post marathon schedule and I was looking at doing the Half up there.

Welcome to the Fox Cities - Congrats on your new job -

I did not have as much fun as you at South Shore - Wet, Muddy feet and the second half into the wind - But they do a nice job for a low cost race.

There are a few of us from Neenah in Cool Running Forum -

I would suggest checking out the Appleton Pacesetters website. You can join if you'd like, but you do not have to join to participate in the activities:

2nd Wedsday of month - Fun run and some kink of food - veru relaxed pace - It is all about chatting as you run.

4th Tuesday of Month - A speaker and a meeting

Every Saturday and Sunday morning - A group run

I am kindof a loner when it come to training - but I know some people that meet at the Neenah YMCA for runs some nights.

June 10th you could either do the Walleye Run (5 Mile) in Fondu Lac or the Belling (10K) in Green Bay - The Bellin is a huge event and they sponsor a few world class athletes.

WOW sounds like the Med City got crazy!!! I am hoping for some nice cool weather for Grandma's. I don't think I would make it past mile 5 with hot weather. I ran my last 20 miler over Memorial Day weekend and boy was it a struggle!!

Happy training to all!!!

Hey Cheeseheads!

Just got back from a great weekend in Madison and Milwaukee (I'm from Urbana, IL). I ran a 5 mile loop around Monona Bay on Sat and 11mi around Lake Monona on Sun. Both great runs with lots of shade and nice scenery.

I hope to come up for a race one of these days.

Hi, everyone!

I live in the Town of Menasha (west side), which is a great area in which to run.

Is anyone else running the Otto Grunski 10K on Aug. 12 (takes place at Jefferson Park in the City of Menasha)?

I plan on it - I did it last year and it was a well run event and fast. I consider it the fastest 10K course that I have run.

I will also do Younger 10K on July 8th - Very nice race - not as fast.

I am on Neenah's east side

WI MTP,

Thanks for contributing to my OCD -- I'm now worried about finishing last in Otto.

Well, we made it up here from Houston earlier this month and are working on getting used to our new surroundings. You're right, Sue, the weather here is GREAT right now!! I don't miss the June weather in Texas at all. It's so nice to be able to go for a run at any time of day without withering in the heat.

I have decided to train for the Lakefront marathon in Milwaukee. Does anyone know of a training group in Madison that I could run with? I am more of a social runner and miss running with a group.

Thanks!

Tara

I never said if I was fast or not - just that it is a great course if you want to run a time that is fast to you personally -

Enjoy your running -

Hey, WI MTP!

I'm not in Wisonsin, but I AM alive and I was visiting Devil's Lake last Friday. We scrambled up the boulders on the east side of the lake, and then took the ridge trail back down. We spent 5 hours hiking around then hit the Log Cabin Restaurant before heading back to the flatlands of Chicago.

I'll be running the Chicago Distance Classic (half marathon) August 13th, and the Chicago Half Marathon on October 1st. Are you into halves? Let me know if you want to run either and we could get together for dinner.

Royboy2 - Half are not my favorite - but I manage 3-4 a year.

I have a marathon Sept 24 and a key race 10K August 12th

Someday we will meet ...

Next year I will likely do these marathons

Boston
Flying Pig
Green Bay
Chicago

Flying Pig and Green Bay will just be for fun to train for a 12 hour event - I hope.
