I'm seriously considering the Green Bay Marathon. It'll be my first spring marathon, so training over the winter will be a newish challenge. But I'd really like to shave that minute and change off my PR to get a BQ out of the way early in '08.I agree the Bock Run is a good season starter. After that, I'd say the Black Earth 10 Mile in early April. Speaking of 10-mile races, which are too few and far between, there's Stevens Point YMCA Frostbite on Dec. 1. A 5-mile race and walk, too. The fun starts at noon.

What do you need for a BQ?I was the 3:10 pacer last year for Green Bay - I think this is a really good race to try and BQ. I am just starting back from injury, so the frostbite is out - Its a good race for December, but Point Bock is a great race! Living in Neenah and having plenty of good races, Unlikely I would drive to Black Earth - But you never know. For me personally, any race with free beer afterward gets an extra star Point Bock Oshkosh 1/2 (april) Green Bay Marathon (May) Any Badger Stider Event

That's when my kickoff is as well Mike. It should be interesting...These nice/cold days are really messing with me. I've dressed poorly on the last few of my runs and have definitely suffered. Tonight the wind cut right through my 2 shirts and I was freezing. Mike - You gonna go to the Frostbite at all then?

autoratrun - We are little slow at checking and replying, but don't hold it against us -IM-Wisconsin - Not this guy although I run with a few in the area that do it each year. Crusty 50k has been on my radar scope, but it has never worked out. 2006 I did the Glacial 50 Mile, so its not the distance - just logistics. Alex - No Frostbite this year - Right now I have these goals (in this order) #1 Get Healthy #2 Lose weight with lots of aerobic activcity #3 Run #4 Run fast I am still praying that I will be able to be able to run a 5k in town 1/1/08, if it goes against #1, then I will skip it too. This year if I do not qualify for Big Bock at the Point Bock 5 miler you should be afraid !!!

Runforfun, I did good at the Turkey Trot (for me) 5k time 27:13 Nice cold Morning I think it was 32 degrees than It really started to Snow hard with some wind as well... madefor a pretty Cool (not as in temp) run. This will be my first winter of running ... so I am looking forward to the challanges...(maybe I will change my mind) however I hope to do about 25wpw during the Winter... than start building more in spring. Tommorow our Running club is putting on a trail run called the extra slice... Not sure how far but it sounds like 10 miles... Snowing again here so should be interesting.

MTP WI: Do they have 3:15 pacers at the GB Marathon? That's what I need. I assumed the race was too small to have pacers, so this is very encouraging news.I had fun watching the Berbee Derby on Thanksgiving – one of those rare occasions I showed for a race but not as a participant. Here's why I was there: http://blog.silentsportsonline.com/ It was cool to see the "stars," although I didn't know who they were at the time. I'll likely run the Frostbite 10M, but it's gonna be CHIL-LY!

In the past the pace groups started @ 3:20 - Last year I requested that if they added a 3:10 group and I would be pace leader. I do not think they have a 3:15 group.I am unsure if I will return and pace the 3:10 again in 2008. I think it would be too much on my body. Boston 4/21 50 Miler 5/10 24 hour race 6/7 I am currently horribly out of shape coming back from injury. You could always hold a big sign at the start: "I need friends to run a 3:15" "Do you want to be my friend?"

50 Miler - The Ice Age - I hear it is a great time and a great party - They have a 50K with it - You could do it ???? This is likely to occur, I may decide to focus on shorter stuff insteadhttp://www.iceagetrail50.com/home.php 24 hour - FANS 12/24 around Lkae Nekomis (MN) - This is only 50/50 http://www.fans24hour.org/

I am not going to push my self any further than a marathon next yearthis is a long term commitment to running and at with that it gives me goals for 2009. ( I am thinking Minneapolis marathon in 2008 however I would rather do whistlestop but I think I will have work commitments that weekend) Not trying to sound repetitive... however I must sound like some sort of groupie... the three people I run with.. I believe all of them run the Ice age and one of them ran the 24 hour last year he made 96 miles

The Frostbite 10 Mile in Stevens Point on Saturday was brutal. Started snowing less than an hour before the noon start and didn't stop. No clear pavement, very greasy footing, biting cold especially after the 5M turnaround. My eyelids nearly froze shut, I'm not kidding. Still, I was happy with my top 20 finish and overall time. Races like that only make you stronger. [This message has been edited by jtpaten (edited Dec-03-2007).]

jtpaten - nice attitude - I was at the end of week #2 coming back from a 12 week layoff for injury. I had planned on doing this race, but it would not have been smart to run that hard yet.Hopefully next year I will be ready for the Frostbite and I hope it will be a little nicer. I think I will race the New Years Day 5k in Neenah.

jtpaten - I agree with you on all remarks except one...my eyelids actually did freeze together a few times. I am looking forward to a winter of training/snowshoeing now though and hopefully the Bock has a bit better weather.Mike it makes me sad that this year was my last Frostbite for a long time. Too bad it wasn't a bit closer to Christmas.
