jtpaten & IrisMdsn - How'd you do at Oshkosh - It took me almost an hour to find the free beer afterward - It was back at the start (Sundial) Point Bock

Fairly fast course - I heard that if you @ 2:00 pace you may have been stopped by a train that would suck!

I was happy with a 1:21:46 - 1st Clydesdale - If they listed the Clydes with everyone else it would have been 17th overall - Some really fast guys in the top 4 - a 1:07, 2-1:08s and a 1:09 - wow that's smok'n

So that's where they hid the beer!

I finished just out of the top 100. I caught 8 people in the last two miles (including three in the chute!) but that wasn't quite enough. RFF, you were among those who kicked my butt. Nice work. I was most thankful for the lack of wind. The lake section could have been really tough.

It ocurred to me right away, when we crossed he RR tracks, the problem they posed. Race directors have no power over train schedules, so they shouldn't cross their fingers and hope runners won't be cut off. What happened there should require a route change next year.

Anyone else notice that fewer than half of the bands advertised showed up? Or that the "porta potties" ID'd on the course maps tended to be gas station restrooms? Needing to make a pit stop, that annoyed me greatly.

Lots of water stations and spectators, though. I have a couple other minor complaints, but overall it was ably pulled off. I'd probably run it again.

Good run overall. I PRd by 5 minutes to finish 12th for females! Unfortunately, they put me in the wrong age group though. (45 instead of 20...oh well.) The course seemed quick to me - very flat. One of my friends that ran finished at 2:02 and did have to wait for the train. I would do the run again- I think it went rather smoothly for the first time. (besides the train incident)

I agree however, the "bands" weren't much to brag about. I normally wouldn't consider one person playing a guitar much of a band. :-)

Hoping you guys can help. I'm heading to Ashland in July and am wondering if there are any good races around there anytime after the second week in July. After a couple of weeks with my parents I am going to need the break. Didn't even realize this thread was still going to I found it in a google search! You guys are devoted!

Thanks!

Not real familiar with area - Here is a link - Go under Race Info - Race Calander

I do not see it, but I swear Minoqua had a 10k that same weekend - thats kindof a long drive.

Iron Mountain MI has a race August 4th

Hurley has the Paavo Nurmi Marathon August 11th

Or - For a change a pace - Wausau has a sprint triatholon August 4th

Sorry things are kindof slim pickins up north as far as I can see.

I'll be crazylegging it on Saturday. The crazylegs was the second race I had ever run...finished 55 minutes with random sporadic training. I ran it 6 weeks after my first run. Sure hope I PR, otherwise, something isn't going right...

I am skipping Crazylegs - I need to get over this nagging head cold. Good luck to you all.

Anyone doing the Madison Marathon or 1/2? I am considering it even though it is notorious for bad weather and disorganization. It is under new management this year though so hopefully it will be organized better. Plus, it has to be due for some decent weather after the last few years!

I'm planning on doing Mad-City Half for sure, maybe the full if I feel up to it. There is no limit that I know of and you can sign up at the expo, so that's what I'll probably do.

I've had a sinus cold for the last few days, too (from Boston?), but it's beginning to subside. Good luck with yours!

I can't wait until I can actually sleep at night instead of caughing all night.

No Crazy legs for me

No Madison 1/2

I am pacing the 3:10 @ Green Bay marathon

Outside chance I may do the Wausau 1/2 marathon next weekend.

It is a nice time of year - Racing season - Lots of choices.

Larry, I am going to play it by ear as well and register at the expo. If it is going to be 90 degrees, I will probably just do the 4K!

RunForFun, I hear you on the coughing! I hope you feel better soon. I *finally* feel like I may be on the mend. I feel like my family has been sick since Christmas!

Anyone doing the Capitol Mile this year? It is an awesome race! And if you are in the Madison area, Fleet Feet has a great training program that does track workouts on Tuesday nights. It is a load of fun.

Well, I guess I must be recovered from Boston... ran Crazylegs today and set my course PR at 36:43!

It was a beautiful warm and sunny day, a relief after Boston. The wind was quite strong as a head wind from the top of Observatory until the U-turn along the lake, then it was a tailwind all the way back to Camp Randall (last two miles). It was a great time!

I'm in for the Nurse's Run. I haven't decided on the 5K or 10K.

Did you decided on the madison marathon? I decided not to do the full, but now I am not sure what I am going to do. I know I am doing the Komen Madison the following weekend.

RunForFun: ?? why curse?

runninlaw: I'm training as if I'm doing the Mad City full, but will wait until the expo the day before to commit. The weather and how I feel will decide which race I do. I hope to do at least the half marathon, but if it's over 85F, I might just do the 10K. The nice thing about Mad-City is no cap on the number of runner's, and sign-up right until the day before.

I'm doing the 10K at Nurse's tonight. It's supposed to be warm, but it's only 10K. Good luck tonight. If you see a guy with Boston Marathon shorts and a red singlet, it might be me.

I am the one that was searching for races during my trip back home. Found a great link that listed more of the races up north that I didn't see listed anywhere else.

Hey Larry - Congrats on the 10K - I saw you finish! I wasn't positive it was you, but when I checked your profile pics, sure enough. Next time I see you I'll have to say hi. I wasn't going to do it today b/c if it wasn't you someone would probably think I was nuts if I introduced myself as "runninlaw."

I did the 5k. I was a bit nervous because I haven't run much faster than a 9:30 mile since Boston. But things went pretty well and I came in at 22:5X. Nothing spectacular, and well off my PR, but it got me 5th for women, 25th overall and 1st in my AG. Pretty cool. I am always happy when I have hardware to take home.

Nice race, runninlaw!!! It was kind of warm out there, but compared to Boston it was kind of refreshing. Yeah, next time say 'Hi'. I really didn't know too many other people there, I have a couple friends that have done Nurse's in the past, but they had other things going this year. Boy, there were a lot of people in that 5K! Hopefully you were near the front at the start. Congrats on the AG award!!

I had a good race, not a PR for me either 46:38, I think. I faded a little on the long hill ahead of the Arboretum. Only got me 5th in my AG, but the fast runners (Kaufman, etc.) always show up for that race, so 5th isn't too bad. But I didn't stick around for the awards. I probably looked pretty ragged at the finish, not much kick left.

Maybe we'll see you at Mad-City.
