Kurt - local track in West Allis? Go to Pettit Center (near State fair Park on 84th) - 450M indoor track - always about 50 degree, $3.00 per visit(pkg deals available) 2 lanes, several markings for intervals and conversion chart for number of laps to miles and a pace cahrt also. Nice facility to go in this weatehr we've had lately and also nice place to do speedwork if July temps hit 95 or higher.

Welcome RichardC - This "WI" thread - People post irregularly - But if you go to "Run Race Reports" there are some of us that post our runs and talk about life daily. Although I went to UW-L I live in Neenah.Wow was that Point Bock beer good - They did an amazing job at having the course 100% clear of slippery stuff. A little windy - But a good day to run and drink beer. Sue - Missed you - But at least I did not have to lose to you again

Hey everybody! We have fallen down the list a bit so I figured I would bump us up. I was lucky enough to get to go to Jacksonville, FL last weekend for a little spring training. I gladly exchanged the snow and freezing temps for azaleas and 60-70 degree weather. Not to mention the nice flat runs!!! Today I went out and it was back to the regular painful grind for that first mile. Boy do we get the opportunity to build character here though! Glad to hear the point bock run was fun! I was trying to race while in Jax, but it didn't work out (I was a pain with all of my training "requirements")..... RunforFun - love the new name but I keep forgetting!! I hope your training is going well. Are you still scheduled for GB? Let's hope spring is coming soon! We should at least have some more daylight hours soon.....

Toooooo out of shape to run Green Bay full marathon - I will likely do the 1/2 as a good training run. I pushed the spring marathon to Grandmas to give me the extra 4 weeks.

Well, it looks like we're finally going to get a "spring thaw". I hope it lasts! It's been a brutal winter, and I've had to keep up my training to be ready for Boston on 4/16. Ran outside through most of it, but I also did the most indoors running of any winter to date, including 17, 20, and 21 mile long runs. Combination of treadmill and indoor track. Anyway, made it through so far, but I will sure appreciate the Daylight Saving Time and warmer weather next week! Anyone else doing Boston? Good luck to everyone on their training, and enjoy the thaw! ------------------ - Larry - Next: Boston 2007 My Profile

First crash-landing of the year this morning! Roads and sidewalks were just awful due to yesterday's thaw and subsequent re-freezing. Flat, awful slickness everywhere! Landed on my rear and somehow managed to scrape my knee in the process. The saving grace was that no one was around to witness my aerial maneuver! Anybody else fed up with the ice? (And with neighbors who refuse to shovel the sidewalk???) In training for the GB half marathon!

Anyone doing the Shamrock Shuffle 5/10K in Madison this Saturday? I'm planning on running the 10K, but haven't signed up yet. I register the day of the race, if the weather looks good.

IrisMdsn,It will be my first time there, too, so don't know. Does anyone know of a 5k-10k race in the area on March 31? Need one more tune-up before Boston. I think the annual Black Earth 10 mile race is on April 7, but I should be tapering by then. Thanks!

I am doing the Shamrock Shuffle 10K. This is the first year I am doing it, but I have run the Lake Monona loop a million times. It is not a pancake course, but it isn't bad at all. A few small rollers and then the worst hill will be after you turn around at Olbrich Park and have to run back up the big hill (that you just ran down to get to the park). The other side of the lake monona loop (i.e. the monona side) is much hillier. It looks like it should be 40 for Saturday. Temp keeps rising everytime I look at the weather. A few days ago they said 32. Any which way, it will be better than the last few weeks. As far as the ice goes, last weekend was rough. I did my long run in the morning with 14 miles at MP. It was tough starting out fast with all the black ice. I *almost* ate it a few times, but was lucky enough to save myself. Yesterday was flat out gorgeous! First time in a long time I whipped out my running skirt!! Clocked 64 degrees here!!

It was great yesterday. 70F when I did my intervals in shorts and a tee. It was almost too warm for the intervals, but it still felt good!Good luck Saturday!

The Shamrock Shuffle was awesome. Tons of people and good weather. Were you out there Larry?I set a 2 minute 6 sec PR and got to take home some hardware too, so I was happy! So much fun to have races again!

Yeah, there were a lot more people than I expected. Pretty competitive. I ran about 2 minutes off my PR (Boston marathon training, no rest or taper) for 10K, but came in tenth in AG. If they had 5-year AG's, like most races, I would have been third. The course was a little narrow had to run through mud a few times to get around people. On the return leg, the 5K walkers were also in the way. Overall, though it was a pretty good event. I'll probably do it again. Good work on your PR and hardware, runinlaw!

That race is too crowded. If they don't put a cap on registration, I won't do it again.
