WI MTP ~ I see that winter is closely approaching. I won't get in as much running now because I am extremely busy. Runinlaw ~ Congrats on Boston - I used to live there and before I was even a runner, I LOVED the Marathon. It's so festive and fun!! Even being a nonrunner, it was great to partake in the all-day drinking fest I hope everyone else is doing well. ------------------ Jenn

Anyone run the Noodleini this morning? The weather was fabulously mild, I got a chunk of cheese shaped like a turkey, and I set a PR! All in all a good time! Jennifer

Nice job on the PR Jennifer I was at the Noodelini - Did you do the 5K or 15K? It was almost perfect weather conditions. My 1st time at this race. I guess it is a new course this year. I was not a big fan on coming back on the sidewalk, but it was a fast course. I do not run many 15ks - Last one was the bunny hop 2005. It is actually a very nice race distance. I will likely be back in 2007 - Hopefully faster

This was my first Noodleini too. I ran the 5K, and my only criticism of the race was making participants run on the sidewalks! My knee felt like it was going to explode during that stretch. The chicken noodle soup afterward sort of made up for it though.Where is the Bunny Hop held? Are you running the New Year's Eve 5K at Bridgewood Resort in Neenah? It starts at 11 and there's a party in the Ground Round afterward (noon Packers game). I'm doing it for the beanie stocking cap and the apres-run party.

I ran the Berbee for the first time...oh, what a day! It was beautiful. Plus, I though the t-shirts were cool. My goal was to set a PR but it didn't happen. I usually run with my husband but he hurt his back and after 2 minutes of running decided it would be best if he walked to off I went to pace myself. Cool event and worked out well for us since we were heading to Milwaukee for turkey day feasting...

I also was at the Noodleini - prefect weather. Something must have gone right, as I got a new PR. I'm thinking about doing the New Year's run as well.

I am in on the Jingle Bell run in Madison next weekend. I am really hoping to PR in my 5K distance. We'll see. Hopefully it won't be as ridiculously cold as this weekend. Did anyone run today. Sheesh! I ran a bit over 6 miles at 9 am and it was 17 degrees and very windy! Thanks for compiling the longer race list. While is is not quite a half, the Lake Monona 20K (12.55 miles according to the USATF) is a great race. It goes around lake Monona in Madison and through some cool neighborhoods. I highly recommend it. They don't have an 07 date listed yet on the website, but it is usually in early May. Course: http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=13861 Race website: http://www.runmadison.org/lm20km/ Stay warm!!

runninlaw - You will also find the Badgerland striders 20k the Saturday before memorial day a low cost (Under $10) but quality event. It is flat and fast. Because their events are usually $6 or $7 you will find ribbons (Just like grade school track & field) for age groups. All other aspects of the event are 1st class.

Hey, dere! Born and raised in Baraboo (yes, I DID work at the circus, too), went to undergrad at Stevens Point and lived in Madison for many years working at the UW. I'm now in Viking's land, and although there is only a river between us, I'm always amazed at the differences between MN and WI. I have a whole slew of things that are "only in Wisconsin" including all the plastic statutes on 90/94 and some of the excellent beer from Black River Falls! (Don't tell anyone but I also find Wisconsinites to be just a bit more open and gregarious...) I'll be around Madison next weekend, don't know for sure about a Jingle Run, but it would be great if I could decide and sign up that day! I run RFTC every summer; I am hoping they have chip timing this year. I PR'ed last year, but it didn't count as they weren't recording the times. I hope they will this year! Go BADGERS!!! ------------------ 30 Something's Rule: www.30somethings.bravehost.com Recent Melissa

MN is nice, but different - I lived in Lakeville (Far South Sub) for 2 years. One of my favorite race - Ron Daws 25K - last Saturday in March or 1st in April - 150 people - only $3 or $4 and a very tough course. Also the Urban Wildland 1/2 Marathon - August. I find MDRA race schedule easy to use. http://www.raceberryjam.com/mdra3.html I clicked on you link to the 30s something site - Looks fun

Racine, WI here. Grateful for the gym membership and indoor track after all the frosti-snowness and icy running paths that are now part of our lives. Made an attempt to run at Petrifying Springs Park in Kenosha on Saturday and I've GOT to get something on my shoes that grip the ice. But, hey - it's great to find out there's a lot of us here in Wisconsin! ------------------

Hi all ~Well I am jealous this time of year to those with gym memberships and treadmills but there's nothing that wakes you up like getting hit in the face at -2 at 7:15 a.m. With all the ice and snow, my shins are hurting a bit more after each run but I've taken up running cold water on my legs in the shower and trying to ice too. How's running going for everyone else? Melissa, I checked out your 30-somethings page - wow, that's so cool. I once tried joining the 20-something thread on cool running but they all knew each other so well that it was hard to join the clique. Anyways, I might try some snoshoeing soon as soon as all of my work finishes in the next week. Enjoy the cold!!! ------------------ Jenn

I know, isn't it awful?!?!? Did you run outside today? Fortunately, I have an after-work event at a martini-serving establishment so I don't have to run. Jennifer

Of course - I was out at 7:15 at 14 below zero. When I turned around on my last 3 mile stretch, the wind was just a-howling. I didn't think I would make it but damn, adversity makes you stronger ------------------ Jenn

I wimped out and hit the treadmill. The wind was nasty here and I figured the skin on my face would be very thankful if I did not brave the elements. First time I have hit the TM in a year!!! It was just as exciting as I remembered it.

Yes Iris...it is ridiculous!!! Are you still in for the JBR on Saturday? Are you doing the 5K or 10K? I am doing the 5K and was originally hoping to PR....but, I ran in that area last weekend and it was very snowy, icy, uneven...considering it hasn't gotten above 32 all week and there are forecasted winds of 15 mph on Sat, I am just looking for a fun run....I almost wish now I had signed up for the 10K since the arb is so beautiful when full of snow (and all those turkeys!!!). It should be decent temps though and a lot of fun. Good cause too - I raised $200! Arthritis is not a friend in my circle!Good luck to you on Saturday - let me know how your run goes!

I'm from Iowa but I couldn't be a bigger Paker Fan. One of my goals is to run the marathon that goes through Lambeau Field and I'm hopin' to do a runnin' camp in Wisconson this summer.
