We've done this in the past and even gotten a group together here and there for runs/races. Any of you all out there? If so, where are you located and might you be interested in meeting others from the boards? I'm actually in the Central Valley, but enjoy driving to the BA & Sac to run whenever I can. Anyone? Bueller?------------------ hup

I am a decent recreational runner from Fremont and like to race 5k's primarily.I ran a few times with a running club but due to schedule conflict and my desire to save on gas, nowadays, I normally just run on the streets and track of the local HS near my home. Would be interested in meeting others in races and share our experiences!

Hey there! Miles - how're things going? I don't know if I ever shared this with you, but in 2003 I ran CIM (actually the last 3 years). I was primed and ready to smash my PR (3:19:23 ... a good hour behind you) Anyway, I was slightly ahead of pace all the way through when I started to cramp right as we went under the freeway (is that about mile 23?). I ran as fast as I could go without cramping up, which was not fast at all. Long story long, I finished at 3:19:24! I cried. So, on a far lower level, I could relate to your near miss in 02.What is on everyone's racing plate? My wife and I are running the Bizz Johnson Trail Marathon in Susanville on 10/9. Also running a hilly 10 mile race in Mariposa on Sunday. Anyone else planning to race anytime soon? Thanks for responding. Maybe we can get together some sort of group deal sometime soon? hup

Heya Hup,I still have your water belt and heartrate monitor, you and your beautiful family coming up for CIM? I already have one victim set up to hit Espanol with me the night before - arc from the CH. No running CIM for me this year, I'm working the course, still feeling the ankle, so my max mileage is 5 at a leisurely pace, but I did complete my first cycling century last weekend, doing a heavy climb route tomorrow - Sac to Auburn, a test for the Auburn Century in a few weeks - 10k of climbing in 110 miles. Don't know if I'm ready, tomorrow will tell. Give me a shout or something.

Hey hup, and all! I'm here in the Bay Area (San Ramon). Unfortunately my running is fairly nonexistant at the moment so I doubt I could hang with a group for a run, at least not right now. Maybe this will be my motivation to get back into the swing of things. mrampton, where in Hayward do you run? I work at the edge of Castro Valley and Hayward, and keep meaning to make it up to Lake Chabot one of these days after work. Is there anywhere else cool to run around there? (I should know the area better after working there for 3+ years, but sadly I do not)

I like to go to the dirt track at Mission San Jose a lot. It is not crowded and there is a nearby restroom. I like to watch the football team there practice as well. The kids there do seem to need more endurance training though.Sometimes, I go to the Milpitas HS but lately I prefer to save on gas and just stay within Fremont. quote: Originally posted by mrampton: gcklo:What HS track do you run on? I am also planning on running the Bulls. Though my chance of catching one of them is not great. I will also run the San Mateo 911 Memorial. Can't miss the chance to run on the horse track at Bay Meadows. Hope to knock one to two min off my 5k PR. quote: Originally posted by Rain Man: San Francisco.Next run: Um, maybe Running of Da Bulls 5K in Palo Alto.

I'm a new runner, just finished the 5th week of the 5k training program, and I live in Mountain View. So far I've done all my jogging alone and would enjoy some company if anyone is nearby.

Yeah that under the freeway right there is a cursed area watch out. In 2002 I missed water there and had to slow and spin all the way around to grab it (I was REALLY thirsty) that right there probably cost me the 2 1/2 seconds. I am racing just about every weekend. Jamba 5K on 9/18, Paso 10K on 9/25, and the big one Twin Cities Marathon on 10/2. Hopefully I can recover and still run CIM. Are you running CIM again?

I ran the Bulls 8K last year (not sure why they changed it to a 5K this year), and I was the last person to beat the first bull. Couldve gone faster but I was wearing a turkey costume.
Some of the bulls are instructed to go slow, though, and they give the runners a 3 minute handicap.

I'm around the Sac area and I'm running the Buffalo Stampede 10 mile this coming Sunday, 9/11. I'm running Portland Marathon on 10/9 and I think this will be a good tune-up race.

I'm waiting until after my 10-9 race to make the call on CIM. If I come through in good shape then I'll probably run it. If not so good I'm thinking about Napa in March or Newport, OR in May (have heard good stuff about this one) You're a busy guy these next few weeks! Is training going well? Any solid time goal at TCM?

Have heard lots of good stuff about the Stampede. It does come at a great time to use it as a tune up for Portland. Good luck! hup

Stupid question .... are they actual bovines or folks dressed up as bulls? (I told you it was stupid ) I think it would be much safer to run with a guy in a turkey suit than with an actual bull BTW Rain Man, my daughter goes to USF and we were up there Saturday (it was fantastic to escape the Central Valley heat!). Can you tell me where you shop for running shoes in the City? Thx - hup

Checking in from Fairfield. Just ran the GVH Labor Day Races in Davis on Monday. Next up...Probably Tracy Run for the Ribbon in early October. Focusing on 5/10K's for the time being after a long layoff. Maybe one or two marathons next year.

yeah, they have elite runners dressed up as bulls--the palo alto residents would have a cow if they were real. nicole teter (ran the 800 meters in athens) was one of the bulls. for running shoes, i get emm at fleet feet. ------------------ TURKEY BEACH TROT III: Dances with Turkeys Thanksgiving Day Run & Walk San Francisco, CA Race against a gigantic 6'1", 180-pound Turkey! Checking in from Palo Alto...Currently training for the NYC Marathon. Running the Bizz Johnson 1/2 as a warmup / pace indicator. I'm relatively new to competitive running and haven't heard of this Bulls 8k or 5k, which is apparently going to take place right under my nose. Can someone let me know where to get info / register for it? Also considering the possibility (not really seriously yet) of running CIM if I don't think NYC will be a good race for meeting my time goal.
