Hi Everyone,
I'm moving from central Denver to the Thornton/Northglenn area. I'm totally bummed because I can't work in my routine at Wash Park, so I need a new place to run that isn't pavement (too hard on my knees and ankles). Anyone have any good suggestions for an area nearby?
Thanks a bunch!
Dara

the Big Dry Creek Trail in Westminster is a good one...park at 128th between Huron St. and Zuni....trail is mainly unpaved and is 9 miles one way.

There is a dog park just north of 104th and York, on the east side of that there is a nice trail that start in front of the apartments there, and winds through some open space, with a tunnel under the railroad tracks. I haven't followed it far east of there, but I think it passes the Rec center and they just built a tunnel under Colorado Ave so that may go quite a ways east. You can also go west from that same starting point and pick up a nice trail on the other side of York. I think that goes all the way to Washington St. It's no Wash Park, but they are starting to connect some of those trails now. I am trying to find other trails in the area, if anyone has any other ideas, I'm listening.

I agree. There is usually room for parking there, too. One problem w/this trail, though. No trees or shade. Washington Park was very shaded. I have been running in the late mornings and it has been getting very hot on the Big Dry Creek Trail. Bring water as you will need it.
