HI Scott and all the other LICR'sNice to see this thread up again, without the search function I couldn't find it. Still running, haven't been doing any races though, shifted my focus to tri's now so just doing a lot of all three and waiting to actually do my first tri. Hope everyone else is doing good, thankfully not a bad winter here on LI. This weekend high 50's ??? Keep checkin in Good luck with everyone's racing season. Suzanne

I was debating whether to do the 1/2 but after last year, I just can't seem to MENTALLY get my mind into it. It is the worst course I have ever run... I wish they would really change the course to showcase the true beauty of LI, then maybe I would be able to do it. Suzanne

Scott I just picked up the paperwork for this. How are you going to get into the city with your bike, that is the one thing that is stopping me from signing up. It looks like great fun to do Suzanne

Hi...I'm not sure yet (lol) but I'll get there some how, an Ol' friend of mine does it every year, not sure if there's room for me with them yet, last resort I'm driving in & parking somewhere cheap, (ha) & I'll take the ferry back to the start. Yes, It does look like a fun one... Scott

Hey there, I'm from LI too. My outdoor runs are ususally on the Jones Beach boardwalk and I also like Norman J. Levy Park in Merrick. There are some nice hills there and the crushed clamshells are nice to run on. Hopefully the Wantagh Parkway trail will be re-paved soon as well.

The course was ok, not a lot of turns. However, I don't think many people liked the new starting location as it was far from the finish line and wasn't too fan friendly. The course fairly flat with a slight incline on jericho turnpike for miles 6-8 and a slight uphill on wantagh. The weather was beautiful and I enjoyed the day as a whole. I just hope the keep a constant course at some point, as its easier to compare one time to another time.

I ran the half and thought the course was pretty good. I drove it the night before which made the first 6 miles fly by on race day because I knew when all the mile markers were coming. I didn't care for the walk to the starting line since I had parked at Field 2. I did like the live bands they had out on the course--fun!

The parking was still in Eisenhower, you just had to walk/jog/run/warmup to the starting area. It wasn't that far. Luckily I parked in the lots by the swimming center.I find having bands on a course funny since when your running you are only by them for a couple of seconds. There probably more for the fans. quote: Originally posted by scottNY: Thanks for the info, so there was parking for the start, how about buses back to your car, like Cow Harbor?"...the next change should be...like Cow, make Saturday Race Day...fyi: There's going to be a new, (nyrr) New York City Half Mary this August...I'm shooting to make that my 1st Half since the Full...enjoy...

Bumping to ask a question. I mailed in my Cow Harbor application last week. August 30th to be exact. My name hasn't shown up on the entrant list yet. (As of 9/8/06 2:29pm). Is this something that I should be worried about. Has anyone mailed in their application instead of using Active.com. (I wanted to save a whopping $1.61, wish I just used Active.com). I don't want to get stuck back in the last wave/corral and I really want to run this race.Just wondering.... (If anyone is still out there..)

I also mailed a check in, took about a week before my name showed up, I would contact them if it doesn't show up by Monday afternoon...can't wait for this race, even though I'm not trained enough to beat last years time...gl

Yeah, I'm nervous about my entry. I really want to run this race. 2004 I was out of shape and ran 52:37. Last year I was in better shape, pulled a hamstring 8 days before, tried to run then blew out the hamstring even more. This year (knock on wood), I am still healthty and even in better shape. Hoping to break 40 minutes. I just don't want to get stuck in the back wave. I sent an email but haven't heard anything. Any other way to contact?? When did you send your check in??
