I was on the 8:45 a.m. boat going to work when someone said, "The Trade Center is on fire." I looked out of the window, and a jet was flying very low over the harbor. Then it flew into the south tower and blew up in a fireball like Independence Day. I couldn't believe it.The city is shut down - the boat turned around and went back. Sue

It was just too unreal to even react - we were all stunned, and saying, you saw it? You saw the first one? No, I saw the second. No, IT FLEW INTO THE BUILDING!Knocked out all cell phones and stuff. We can see the towers smoldering from here. Sue

Dervin works near the WTC, but not in. I hope. alf the known universe here has someone who works in those buildings, though. And I buy my Mizunos there. And run past it at lunch.There are helicopters all over the place, even here on Staten Island.

I just talked to someone on the phone who said that the attack at the Pentagon was also apparently an airplane. Every airport in the US has been shut down.

OMG Sue, I am so glad you are okay. First I thought of my son, he is on an aircraft carrier, on his way to the Persian Gulf. Then I thought of you. I hope we hear from Dervin soon. I'm so scared.

They are shutting Boston down. The Prudential Center, the John Hancock builsing, the Financial District...I think they are going to send us home...

Tina, they're on Chambers Street, some blocks away. I am sure that she's alright - the WTC was isolated in its problem for quite a while, and downtown was evacuated ASAP - in fact, access was closed, and we were turned right around on the boat and sent home.
Not giving you a placebo, I really think that you don't have to worry about her. The damage control was immedaite, and I'm sure that she's on her way home. Where does she live? E-mail me her phone numbers - I'll try to get through. I might have better luck.
