THE 8TH ANNUAL FREDERICK RUNNING FESTIVAL--A TRUE GEM
[ A word from our sponsor ]

Relay January 2010The CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Frederick Running Festival is brought to you by the same organization that brings you the highly successful Baltimore Running Festival. You get first class management and amenities of a big race with the down-home feel and size of a smaller venue. Like Corrigan Sports' other Running Festival events, the Frederick Festival has five race races; a full marathon, a 1/2 marathon, a four-person marathon relay, kid's races and a Saturday night twilight 5K. It has a very conveniently located venue at the fairgrounds in Frederick, Maryland. This will be the 8th running of the event.

Participants come from all around the world and all 50 states, but most come from the Eastern Seaboard. Frederick is centrally located to many of the East Coast US population centers. In particular Frederick is close to Washington D.C. and Baltimore. This makes the Frederick Running Festival easy to get to. Dulles International Airport, Reagan National Airport and Baltimore-Washington International Airport are all an easy drive and there is plenty of reasonable hotel space with great rates from race partners. Please check the Website for directions and accommodations.

The Frederick Running Festival is presented and managed by Corrigan Sports. This professional race management team is known for attention to detail and listening to runners. Corrigan puts on the Baltimore Running Festival and has recently expanded to start the Oakland Running Festival in California. Corrigan invented the popular "Running Festival" format with plenty of fun, plenty of entertainment, and something for everyone.

Come experience the hidden gem that is the CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Frederick Running Festival! This event is one that truly has it all. It has a race for everyone. It has professional and experienced support and a very interesting course. And it has a great post race party. Yet all of this comes with an intimate scale that you can enjoy. So come on out to Frederick on May 1st and 2nd 2010 and experience this gem for yourself!

The New Cape Cod Relay

This tremendously popular region has a new overnight relay next May 1st and 2nd --suburban Boston to Provincetown on the tip of Cape Cod. It has terrific organization, amenities, history, and extraordinary scenery.

The Cape Relay will run 200 miles in roughly 24 hours through some of the most historic and scenic regions in North America. The route is 203.2 miles, Quincy, Massachusetts, to Provincetown on the tip of Cape Cod; 36 legs for 12-person teams. For some this will reprise the legendary Plymouth to Provincetown Relay, which ran (80.8 miles) from 1974 to 1987, because it covers much of the same historic ground.

The Cape is an inviting destination. The Pilgrims on the Mayflower first landed there and spent five weeks before sailing across the bay to land in December, 1620 founding Plymouth.

This relay is a run through history and along a beautiful course with gorgeous scenery during the flowering of spring in southern New England. Organization will be first rate with the safety and enjoyment of participants and protection of the environment being the highest priorities.

You and your team will have the time of your life all along the course; an event you will never forget. The Cape Relay is a running adventure like no other. It will be the manifestation of team building. With admirable organization, attention to every detail, and the beautiful south shore and Cape backdrop, it is ideal for competitive runners and casual joggers alike. The first Cape Relay will simply be the event of the year for many.

Teams are given staggered starts based upon the average 10k times to get all the teams to the finish just in time for the big party and awards ceremony at the BAS-Relief Park in Provincetown.

The Cape Relay is modeled after other long distance relays. The course is divided into 36 legs with designated runner exchange zones at the end of each leg. Teams, 12 or 6-person, will run around the clock, completing 36 legs or stages, each with well-designed transfer points and rest areas. Be part of running history; go to the event website for more information.

This is an event you do not want to miss. Set up your team and get in on the first one. This will satisfy that wanderlust, that feeling of being part of something very special. It will be a rolling, running, overnight party in a very special place. Just imagine! Let's go!
