The Smuttynose “Will Run for Beer” 5K is the biggest bash for LOCO Sports and will close the 2014 WRFB Series, fittingly, with an excellent 5K and a great post race party at the brewery. Yes, they have gone back to the traditional 5K distance on this one and have laid out a great single loop course that is relatively flat and has few turns. And Smuttynose Brewery, their brand new state-of-the-art brew house, provides an awesome location for the post race and post-series celebrations.

It is a rural loop in Hampton and starts and finishes at the new Smuttynose brew house. The post race party is worthy of the name and the location, and—if you ran five of the series races--you won’t want to miss getting that jacket! It is awarded here!

And it will be the second day of summer!

As with many LOCO races, the post race celebration is not to be missed. Live music from a rock n’ roll band will enliven the festivities, and there will be a large white beer tent/beer garden with Smuttynose craft beers. There will be a cookout too with burgers and hot dogs, coleslaw, and tasty Stonyfield Farm products. And their red “awards tent” will be busy.

In fact, just running this race will be an award in itself. The course runs on rural roads with fields and farms and those quintessential New England stone walls.

Register early for this one as it has sold out the last 4 years in a row! http://smuttynose5k.com/

They will be using the B-tag, the Chronotrack computer scoring system with the chip built into the bib number—yours to keep. Yankee Timing Company will provide immediate and accurate results.

LOCO Sports- For Runners by Runners
This is another great race by the folks at LOCO Sports. LOCO was founded in New Hampshire by runners just like you who believed that loyal runners deserved a company truly dedicated to the sport of running and to the running community.

The folks at LOCO also have a solid history of successful race management, including the Rockfest Half Marathon, Great Bay Half Marathon, The Women’s Half Marathon, the Stow Eight Miler, the “Will Run for Beer” Series, and additional new and exciting races coming your way in 2014 such as the Funky Half Marathon in Kingston and a new seacoast Marathon TBA. You can count on them to provide a terrific race experience from start to finish.

Smuttynose Brewing Company
Smuttynose Brewing Company was started in 1994 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and has developed into one of New England’s leading craft breweries. The name comes from Smuttynose Island, one of the Isles of Shoals just off the New Hampshire coast. They have a wide variety of beers, including their best selling mainstays, including Finastkind IPA, Shoals Pale Ale, and Star Island Single. They also produce seasonals, their Big Beer Series, and short batches. They have won several national awards.
