INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - (May 17, 2006) - The third edition of the USATF National Club Marathon Relay Championships will be hosted by the inaugural Post-News Colorado Colfax Marathon in Denver, Colo., on Sunday, May 21. With $30,000 in prize money at stake, clubs will be competing for national titles and unprecedented prize money for a club competition.

Clubs from California, Colorado, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina and Washington are entered, including both the men's and women's defending champion clubs. The marathon relay event is the first of three club championship events in the 2006 USATF Club Championship Series.

"We are excited about this year's championships and the turnout from around the country," said USATF President Bill Roe. "The goal of this championship is to offer both elite development clubs and grass roots clubs the opportunity to have a road championship which they can focus on each year."

On the women's side, the defending champion adidas Raleigh TC (N.C.) will be challenged by strong squads from Moving Comfort - Montana (Mont.), Rocky Mountain Distance Team (Colo.) and Team Nebraska Brooks (Neb.).

The men's competition will see the defending champion Fleet Feet Sports-Brooks (Ky.) facing tough challenges from Boulder Express "BX" (Colo.), ASICS Aggies Running Club (Calif.), Boulder Running Company/adidas (Colo.), Club Northwest (Wash.) and Team Nebraska Brooks (Neb.).
