Sveinsson named Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Chelsey Sveinsson has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after winning the individual girls' title at the Nike Cross Country Nationals Saturday in Portland, Ore.
A high school sophomore running for the Addison XC Club, Sveinsson won the girls' 5 km race in a course-record 17 minutes 26.9 seconds. Her closest competitor was over eight seconds back.
Now in its seventh year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
