SUBWAY® to Bring 26.2 Foot Sub to Inaugural Eugene Marathon

EUGENE, Ore. - SUBWAY® restaurants spokesperson and weight loss champion, Jared Fogle, will be in Eugene to help kick off the inaugural SUBWAY® Eugene Marathon Sunday, April 29, 2007. Fogle, who became famous for losing 245 pounds in one year while eating SUBWAY® sandwiches will fire the starting gun for the main event and lead pre-race stretching for the SUBWAY® one mile kids run. At the finish line, racers will be greeted by Fogle who will be handing out pieces of a 26.2 foot long sub sandwich in recognition of the 26.2 mile race.
"From my previous visits to Oregon I can easily see why it is such a great state for physical activity and staying fit," said Fogle.
The SUBWAY® Eugene Marathon will be the first major destination marathon since the early 1980s to take place in Eugene. The event will include a marathon, half-marathon, five kilometer and one mile kid's run. The various runs will begin near the historic Hayward Field and will take runners through Eugene and Springfield, on city streets and bike paths finishing near Autzen Stadium.
