Lambie named Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Arianna Lambie has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after winning the women's 6,000 meter race Saturday at the 2006 NCAA West Region Cross Country Championships in Portland, Ore.
A member of the American record-holding 4x1500-meter relay, Lambie repeated her performance from last year in winning the 6,000 meter race in 20 minutes 58.85 seconds. Lambie's first place finish helped secure the Stanford women's team win, as they posted a low score of 42 to claim the Regional title
Now in its sixth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
