El Segundo, CA – Following the recent announcement that “4 MINUTE MILE” will make its world premiere at the 2014 Seattle International Film Festival, Gravitas Ventures has negotiated a deal to acquire all North American rights. The film stars Kelly Blatz, Academy Award-nominee Richard Jenkins, Cam Gigandet, Analeigh Tipton, with Rhys Coiro and Academy Award-winner Kim Basinger. Gravitas plans to open the film theatrically on August 1, 2014, with a pre-theatrical window starting on July 1st.

4 MINUTE MILE is the inspirational story of Drew (Kelly Blatz), a high school student struggling to overcome the inner-city surroundings that threaten to imprison him. After getting manipulated into running drug payments to a local dealer (Rhys Coiro), Drew has nowhere to turn in a family with a deadbeat older brother (Cam Gigandet) and an overwhelmed single mom (Oscar-winner Kim Basinger). His only outlet is track practice but that is taken from him as he continues down the path of his sibling; even the affections of a girl at school (Analeigh Tipton) can’t set him straight. Just as it seems hopeless, an ex-track coach with his own demons (Oscar-nominee Richard Jenkins) witnesses Drew’s speed and athleticism and decides to train him to reach for more than he ever imagined possible. Together they work towards finding solace in each other but Drew’s resolve is threatened as tragedy strikes right before the biggest race of his life and forces him to confront everything that has been holding him back.

“4 MINUTE MILE is much more than a film about running,” noted Gravitas VP, Acquisitions & Marketing Melanie Miller. “Aside from the fantastic performances by its stellar cast, the film also has a wonderful perspective on the human condition and how perseverance warrants going the extra mile in life and love.”

“We are looking forward to working with Gravitas Ventures and think they are the perfect distributor for 4 MINUTE MILE because they echoed our feelings about how the film will inspire people to not only believe in themselves… but in others as well,” said producer Howard Burd on behalf of the filmmaking team. “We are so excited for audiences to see the world premiere of the film at the Seattle International Film Festival, which is a perfect homecoming since we shot the film there.”

The deal for 4 MINUTE MILE was negotiated by Melanie Miller for Gravitas, and Jay Cohen at Gersh on behalf of the filmmakers.

4 MINUTE MILE was directed by Charles-Olivier Michaud, written by Jeff Van Wie and Josh Campbell, produced by Howard Burd, Micah Sparks, Deborah Moore, Mark DiSalle, and Jennifer Reibman, executive produced by Michael Magnussen, Dave Pool, Kevin Taylor, Joe Sisto, and Jonathan Vanger, with editing by Dirk Westervelt and Elisabeth Olga Tremblay, cinematography by Jean-François Lord, and Stephen Barton as composer. The film stars Kelly Blatz, Academy Award-nominuee Richard Jenkins, Cam Gigandet, Analeigh Tipton, with Rhys Coiro and Academy Award-winner Kim Basinger. For more information, please go to
