Canadian Ryan McKenzie wins Twilight Mile

EUGENE, Ore. -- Ryan McKenzie of Windsor, Ontario, won the Twilight Mile in four minutes and one second at the Oregon Twilight meet at Hayward field on Saturday.
Adam Goucher, an Olympian in the 5,000 meters, came in second at 4:02.45 running for Nike.
The Twilight Mile has been run 39 times. In 19 of those races, the four-minute mark has been broken 53 times by 38 different runners.
Oregon legend Steve Prefontaine won the Twilight Mile twice, in 1972 and 1973.
The University of Oregon's track and field regular season wrapped up with the invitational meet in front of 5,398 fans.
In the women's 800 meters, Nicole Teter of the Oregon Track Club won in 2:03.09, in front of the Ducks' Rebekah Noble, who finished in 2:03.94.
In the women's javelin, Kim Kreiner, unattached, threw 57.80 meters, followed by Oregon's Rachel Yurkovich, with a throw of 56.68 meters. Kreiner's throw set a Hayward Field record, topping Sarah Malone's throw of 56.94 meters in 2005.
