February 2007, Honolulu, HI

The 2007 XTERRA Trail Running Championship Series is off and running! Hitting more than 30 stops across the nation, this series offers stunning off-road adventures for anyone looking to spice up their routine, break free from indoor treadmills, and RUN WILD in nature's arena.

This year, XTERRA has grouped their trail runs in key regions, including: Northern and Southern California, Utah, Tennessee, the Midwest and Northeast, Chicago and Georgia. The series format encourages runners to attend several events in their area and offers a legit opportunity to sharpen their off-road skills in a fun and competitive environment. When the series concludes, Regional Champions will be crowned and invited to compete for the title of U.S. Champion, along with other leading runners from each region - in Lake Tahoe, Nevada - on September 29 at the XTERRA National Trail Running Championship.

"XTERRA is thrilled with the growth of its Trail Running Series. In only two years, we have doubled in size to more than 30 events - with more to be announced for the 2007 schedule. XTERRA Trail Runs provide new challenges for thousands of runners - an opportunity to explore their own backyards and challenge Mother Nature's diverse and unique offerings from roots and rocks, to stream crossings and unexpected scenic vistas," says Janet Clark, President of Team Unlimited/XTERRA.

True to the XTERRA "Live More"Ā motto, the XTERRA Trail Run Series strives to bring out the Champion in You. Whether this means crossing the finish line first, or at all: XTERRA aims to inspire individuals to move in the direction of health. In fact, we dare you to lace up those running shoes and see if you can finish an XTERRA Trail Running event without experiencing a sense of accomplishment and that "hurt so good" euphoria.

We're here to help you sweat out your anxieties, and we're here to stay. The sport of trail running boasts over 6.2 million enthusiasts and is flourishing from coast to coast. XTERRA envisions unifying this diverse community of athletes by adding more events in more venues each successive year.

In addition, most XTERRA Trail Runs are coupled with a local non-profit to serve as a beneficiary for the event. Organizations including hospitals, track clubs, parks & recreation and youth programs have profited from XTERRA Trail Run events, for instance, the SoCal series has raised over $6,000 for the Children's Hospital LA!

The XTERRA team is chock-full of optimists -- we're glass half-full people, and we want the world to enjoy the ride with us. Whether you're running on the white sands of Maui for the XTERRA Makena Beach Trail Run, zig-zagging through grapevines in Maryland at the XTERRA Boordy Vineyards Trail Run or anywhere in between, we vow to take your breath away, literally! All it takes is a pair of running shoes and the desire to explore something new; with distances ranging from 5k to 20k, XTERRA Trail Runs take you there.

ABOUT XTERRA
XTERRA is renowned for being the most illustrious off-road, multisport (swim, bike, run) competition in the world. The first XTERRA race was held in 1996 with 123 competitors in Maui. The demand for the sport exploded thereafter and there are now more than 20,000 competitors, ages 13-65, from all 50 states and more than 30 countries worldwide.

The 2007 XTERRA America Tour (now in its seventh year) boasts 54 events in 32 states across the country. This multisport series was the foundation of the XTERRA Trail Run Series. In 2005, the XTERRA Trail Run Series grew beyond the America Tour to include 15 additional races throughout the country. Each event sets out to champion human potential and make the world a better place, one step at a time.
