One of the
Running USA 2009 conference highlights for
attendees, like past years, will be the Monday, February 9 evening
ING
Hall of Champions Awards Dinner and Auction at the spectacular Hilton
La Jolla, Torrey Pines. The banquet will see the induction of the sixth
class of Running USA's Hall of Champions which recognizes individuals
who have made important and noteworthy contributions to the sport and
business of running. Last year's honorees were:
Anne Audain, Olympian
and race founder;
David Hannah, Houston Marathon;
Basil and Linda Honikman,
Running USA;
Wally Kastner, Big Sur Marathon;
Craig Masback, USATF CEO
and
Larry Rawson, TV commentator.
Another part of the fun at the dinner is the live auction
benefiting Team Running USA and other Running USA programs. There are
great items to bid on including an unbeatable Mammoth Lakes "Train
with the Team" package, a full-page national ad page in Running Times
magazine, a state-of-the-art Cannondale triathlon road bike with great
SUGOI cycling apparel, the popular Runner's World speakers package, an
autographed jersey from NBA All-Star Kevin Garnett, vacation getaways
in Colorado, Arizona and California, NASCAR tickets with hospitality and
special collectables, and in addition, during the conference, there will
be a silent auction with more outstanding items.
Before the dinner and auction, conference attendees
will have the opportunity to meet and "run" with Team Running
USA athletes including 2004 Olympic medalists Meb Keflezighi and Deena
Kastor and Olympians Jen Rhines, Kate O'Neill, Ryan Hall, Ian Dobson,
Anna Willard and Dan Browne.
