SAN FRANCISCO - (June 13, 2009) - Aracelly Clouse, 36, can proudly claim the title of an undefeated XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series Champion. Sweeping the series with three consecutive wins, Cameron Park's Clouse placed first for the women and ninth overall at Saturday's XTERRA Marin Headlands Trail Run with her half-marathon time of 1 hour, 55 minutes, 56 seconds almost three and a half minutes ahead of runner-up Meredith Leva, 22, of Sacramento.

For the men, it was 29-year-old series newcomer Brendon Mahoney from Mountain View, CA barely edging out a win in 1:42:21. Oakland local Ray Yokoi, 39, who is undefeated in his age group and a consistent third place finisher, moved up a notch to claim second just 6 seconds later.

Although not able to earn series points, the XTERRA Marin Headlands Trail Run also offered a 7K fun run through the rolling hills inside the Golden Gate National Recreational Area. Giovanni Guzman, 20, of Stevenson Ranch blazed through the course in just 31:39 to win the men's race while it was Rinaldo Cis of Mountain View who clocked in at 33:01 to take second.

Sarah Miller, a Walnut Creek resident, crushed the women's competition in 39:29 finishing almost three minutes ahead of Amanda Husted who had traveled all the way from Springfield, Ohio.

This inaugural event welcomed almost 400 runners from 15 states to the spectacular Bay Area. According to race director Brennan Lindner, "The fog rolled out just before the race, and what we were left with was perfect running weather, sunny and 60 degrees. It was another fun event, especially with the 'stairs' at mile 8 that took the runners straight up to the coastline ridge and the final grueling climb up to the top of Fox Trail."

After tallying the XTERRA Marin Headlands series finale points, Aracelly Clouse and other fellow XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Regional Champions will be invited to race for free at the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on Sunday, September 13 in Bend, Oregon. Then on Sunday, December 6, runners will have the chance to run against an international who's who in the trail running community at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship at Kualoa Ranch on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu.
