USATF Certified Trail Marathon celebrates its second running on Labor Day

On September 2, 2002 international marathoners from Austria, Canada, Japan, and Macedonia will join runners from more than 22 states to participate in Colorado Running Company's American Discovery Trail Marathon (ADTM).

Voted one of America's top 20 trail marathons by Trail Runner magazine (March 2002), this point-to-point course is run on the New Santa Fe and Pikes Peak Greenway trail systems and is the only USATF certified trail marathon in the United States. At last year's inaugural event 23 runners qualified for the Boston Marathon.

The run starts in Palmer Lake, Colorado, at the New Santa Fe Trailhead, winds through the impressive United States Air Force Academy campus, and finishes in downtown Colorado Springs at Monument Valley Park. The entire course offers marathoners breathtaking scenery and spectacular views of the Rocky Mountain Front Range and Pikes Peak.

The marathon is organized and conducted by the American Discovery Trail Marathon Club, a group of local marathoners dedicated to providing all participants with a memorable and unique running experience. The ADTM is a member of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), the All American Trail Running Association (AATRA), and USA Track and Field (USATF).

Three-person relay teams comprised of male, female, and coed categories are being offered in addition to the marathon. There is no entry limit although marathon and relay team entry fees increase after July.

For more information visit www.adtmarathon.com, or call the Colorado Running Company at (719) 635-3833.
