World-Leading 4x1 For Texas A&M Women

Austin, Texas A&M women's 4 x 100 relay squad set a world leading mark in winning with a time of 43.40 seconds at the Texas Invitational on Saturday.
Meanwhile, three Aggies recorded double victories on the day. The trio included Lindsey Adams (100h, 400h), Khrystal Carter (100, 200) and Dominique Stafford (100, 200).
In all Texas A&M posted 12 victories in its first outdoor meet of the season and had the best collegiate finish in four other events at Myers Stadium. The Aggies totaled 30 regional qualifying marks, 18 on the women‚s side of the ledger and 12 for the men.
Three-fourths of the women‚s 4 x 100 unit that won the NCAA Championship in the event during 2007 ran the first three legs in Austin. The group of Elizabeth Adeoti, Porscha Lucas and Simone Facey were on last year‚s squad while Allison George ran the anchor leg this time in place of Tresha Henry.
The mark ranks as the No. 3 team and performance on the Aggie all-time list. It only trails the 43.05 A&M ran to win the NCAA title and the 43.29 posted to win the Midwest Regional last season.
Finishing in second in the 4 x 100 relay with a time of 44.44 was a second group of Aggies. The foursome included Sandy Wooten, Gabby Mayo, Khrystal Carter and Ashika Charan. Their time ranks as the No. 7 team on the A&M all-time list.
Lindsey Adams posted her pair of victories in the hurdles, winning the 100 hurdles in 13.35 and claiming the 400 hurdles in 1:01.22. Her time in the 100 hurdles is a career best, lowering her previous best of 13.60. She moved to No. 6 on the A&M all-time list equal to the mark Tresha Henry ran last season in the NCAA Championships.
Finishing behind Adams in the same section of the 100 hurdles were Whitney Holmes (13.62) in third place and Jennifer Williams (13.76) in fourth place.
A 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 had Khrystal Carter winning in 11.54 seconds with Allison George (11.58) and Elizabeth Adeoti (11.64) in tow. Carter and George established career best marks, moving to No. 6 and No. 9 on the A&M all-time list.
Carter also led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 as she ran 24.18 into a 2.3 headwind with Sandy Wooten (24.32) and Gabby Mayo (24.37) taking second and third.
The men produced a 1-2 finish in the 100 with Dominique Stafford winning in 10.47 while Brandon Lowe posted a 10.74. Stafford enjoyed a second victory as the claimed the 200 in 21.40 with Bryan Miller finishing third in 21.63 while Brandon Lowe placed fourth in 21.83.
Jessica Wingfield paced a 1-2-3-4 sweep in the javelin for the Aggies, winning with a distance of 162-0 (49.37). She surpassed the regional qualifying mark as did Hillary Pustka (158-5), Laura Asmikas (158-3) and Emalie Humphreys (151-02).
Wingfield holds a personal best of 164-0 in the event to rank No. 7 in the event on the A&M all-time list. In setting career best marks Pustka and Asimakis joined Wingfield on the all-time list at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.
In the men‚s triple jump Zuheir Sharif led another 1-2-3-4 Aggie finish as he won with a mark of 51-8 π (15.75). Tyron Stewart produced a leap of 50-10 π (15.50) for runner-up while Terry Dike placed third (49-6 ∏) and Melvin Echard finished fourth (49-4 π).
The women‚s triple jump also featured a 1-2-3-4 sweep with Ashika Charan leading the pack with a leap of 42-6 π (12.96). Yasmine Regis followed with a 41-10 (12.75) for second as Angela Thomas finished third (41-3) with an outdoor personal best. Ashley McCarty placed fourth (40-6 π).
The men‚s 4 x 100 relay won in a time of 39.66 with the quartet of Richard Adu-Bobie, Brandon Lowe, Dominique Stafford and Cade Liverman. The fastest time of the 2007 season for A&M was a 39.49. A second Aggie foursome placed third in 41.65 with Zuheir Sharif, Tyron Stewart, Trinity Otto and Julian Reid.
Kevin Ondrasek posted a win in the 800 as he ran down Logan Gonzales of Texas in the final 80 meters to cross the line in a personal best of 1:51.69. Also finishing strong was A&M‚s Wes Caceras, who moved into second place over the final 10 meters and recorded a personal best of 1:53.39.
A time of 3:10.13 won the men‚s 4 x 400 for the Aggies, competing with a foursome of Morquise Cleveland, Kyle Dykhuizen, Cade Liverman and Bryan Miller.
The women‚s relay ran a time of 3:38.16 to post the top collegiate time in the meet. They ran a foursome of Katie Baker, Sandy Wooten, Jennifer Williams and Allison George. An unattached crew won in 3:37.69 and consisted of Tresha Henry, Clora Williams, Daphne Fitzpatrick and Muna Lee.
The men‚s javelin featured two A&M throwers placing second and third behind Luke Marrs, a former student. Marrs won the event with a toss of 218-11 with Posten reaching a distance of 215-5 (65.65) and Jacob Rodriguez hitting a distance of 214-9 (65.45).
Posten and Rodriguez, who each set a career best, both surpassed the regional qualifying mark in the event.
Anteneshia Lindsey finished as the top collegian in the discus and was second overall with a mark of 162-7 (49.57). Deidre Tarver placed eighth (142-4) in the event while Humphreys placed 10th (137-0).
In the 400 Morquise Cleveland established a career best of 47.17 for second place as Kyle Dykhuizen (48.42) and Jonathan Collins (48.49) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Katie Baker ran her first 400 of the season, clocking a 57.18 for third place.
Christina Munoz was runner-up in the 1,500 as she ran 4:40.86 to finish ahead of teammate Brenna Williamson, who placed third in 4:41.55. Evelyn Wing clocked 4:44.21 for fifth.
Laura Asimakis also finished in a tie for second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 12-5 ∏ (3.80). Jennifer Davidson placed fourth with a clearance of 11-11 ≤ (3.65).
In the men‚s discus Josh Tiemann produced a mark of 178-2 (54.31) to finish third. Brandon Letsinger finished third in high jump as he cleared 6-8 ≤ (2.05).
Joe Sauvageau recorded a 3:59.08 in the men‚s 1,500 to finish fourth. A career best time of 10:20.81 earned Elizabeth Slaughter fourth place in the 3,000 while Kasey McNorton ran 10:46.82 for seventh place.
With a time of 14.13 Cade Liverman finished fourth in the 110 hurdles. Teammate Melvin Echard was fifth overall, winning the second heat in 14.26 with an aiding wind of 3.0. Vincent Scillitani placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 22-0 π (6.71).
