St. Jude Heroes, AT&T Austin Marathon Partner
Posted Thursday, 6 December, 2007
In 1999, the St. Jude Heroes program was born when a group of runners in Washington, DC, decided to meld the sport they love, running, with fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®. Since that time, serious athletes and those who wish to push themselves to accomplish personal fitness goals have been raising money to help fight childhood cancer.
Anyone can be a St. Jude Hero. Each Hero receives fitness and fundraising support, a Heroes resource packet and information about St. Jude to share with sponsors. St. Jude Heroes have access to a virtual training module that provides a fitness assessment and a tailored daily training regimen, as well as their own personalized websites to keep in touch with sponsors as their event date approaches.
Sign-up to become a St. Jude Hero for the 2008 AT&T Austin Marathon and Half Marathon, held in Texas' capital city on Sunday, February 17, 2008. The USATF certified marathon and half-marathon courses start and finish in downtown Austin on Congress Avenue. For more course and race information, visit: www.ATTAustinMarathon.com.
St. Jude Heroes are also eligible for great incentives based on their fundraising level such as a St. Jude Heroes Nike Dri-FIT shirt, invitation to a Heroes-only pre-race pasta party and much more. To become a St. Jude Hero and to help save the lives of children, go to: www.StJudeHeroes.org
