National Hospice Foundation has named the
Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon the destination race for its
Run to Remember® athletic fundraising program for 2011.
Through Run to Remember, individuals raise money to support hospice care in their local communities as well as nationally. At the same time, they memorialize a loved one who has passed away. Thus far in 2010, more than $160,000 has been raised by participants from around the country.
"The Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon is truly a quality event," said Stuart Lazarus, Run to Remember National Program Director. The Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon exceeds our expectations in all areas and we are pleased to direct hundreds of Run to Remember runners and walkers from across the country to participate in Columbus next October."
Run to Remember is one of many charitable training groups that participate each year in the Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon.
"We work hand-in-hand with these groups to provide a great experience for their participants. In fact, millions of dollars have been raised for various charities over the 31-year history of the event," said Darris Blackford, Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon Race Director. "We are looking forward to hosting hundreds of Run to Remember runners and walkers from across the U.S. at our 2011 event. We have no doubt they will be pleasantly surprised by the great city of Columbus and the Columbus Marathon."
