GO! St. Louis® Introduces New Fall Event
Halloween 10K & Fun Run is set for October 18, 2009

ST. LOUIS - GO! St. Louis, a not-for-profit organization that specializes in presenting fitness events and programs for the region, has announced a new signature race, the GO! St. Louis Halloween 10K & Fun Run is scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2009. The inaugural event will feature a competitive 10K run, which should appeal to elite regional runners looking to capture the first-time crown, along with prize money for the top three overall finishers. The Halloween 10K should also attract the casual runner or walker, who is looking to compete in a fun event with family or friends. Participants are encouraged to dress in costume to celebrate the season. In addition to the 10K, a 1-mile fun run will start at 9:30am and is open to all ages.

"After conducting a recent online participant survey, we found that the local running community strongly supported the addition of a 10K to our current lineup of races and programs," said Nancy Lieberman, GO! St. Louis president. "In addition, as we began to plan for the 10th anniversary of the GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, which is set for April 10 & 11, 2010, our board and staff thought a 10K and Fun Run would be a great event for the community and help to kickoff the anniversary celebration."

The Halloween 10K & Fun Run will start in downtown St. Louis and include a fast and scenic course. Final course details will be finalized in the next few weeks.

Early registration fees start at $10 for the Fun Run and $30 for the 10K. Entry fee prices increase after September 15, 2009. Participants receive a high-quality long sleeve t-shirt and post-race refreshments. Top finisher and age group awards, along with prize money will be offered. In 2009, GO! St. Louis presented the GO! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend on April 18 & 19, which attracted more than 18,000 participants for ten different races. In addition, GO! St. Louis recently organized and provided race management for the All-Star Game 5K Run, which had more than 8,000 registrants.
